AIM: To investigate whether illness severity has an impact on gastric residual volume (GRV) in medical critically ill patients. METHODS: Medical intensive care unit (ICU) patients requiring nasogastric feeding were enrolled. Sequential Organ failure Assessment (SOFA) score was assessed immediately preceding the start of the study. Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) Ⅱ scores were recorded on the first, fourth, seventh, and fourteenth day of the study period. GRV was measured every 4 h during enteral feeding. The relationship be-tween mean daily GRV and SOFA scores and the correlation between mean daily GRV and mean APACHE Ⅱ score of all patients were evaluated and compared. RESULTS: Of the 61 patients, 43 patients were survivors and 18 patients were non-survivors. The mean daily GRV increased as SOFA scores increased (P < 0.001, analysis of variance). Mean APACHE Ⅱ scores of all patients correlated with mean daily GRV (P = 0.011, Pearson correlation) during the study period. Patients with decreasing GRV in the first 2 d had better survival than patients without decreasing GRV (P = 0.017, log rank test). CONCLUSION: GRV is higher in more severely ill medical ICU patients. Patients with decreasing GRV had lower ICU mortality than patients without decreasing GRV.

Exploiting structural similarity of log files in fault diagnosis for Web service composition

＜正＞In this paper, we present a framework for modeling temporal reference in Chinese discourse. It generates the temporal relations （i.e. "before", "after" and "same-as"） among the sentences by applying inference rules on a set of pre-specified linguistic features, including discourse features, such as theme, rhetorical relation as well as temporal features, such as tense/aspect markers and connectives. They are designed to determine time orientation or estimate the extent of time shift. A variety of experiments are conducted to compare the different impacts of these features on temporal reference determination and show that theme is the most significant one. The overall performance is promising and achieves 91.33% of accuracy on news articles. Meanwhile, we obtain the insight that the default forward movement of temporal reference, which is employed in previous researches, is not applicable to all genres of texts. In addition, we develop a graphic representation, namely Temporal Discourse Map, which helps locating temporal references in a discourse.

With increasing deployment of Web services, the research on the dependability and availability of Web service composition becomes more and more active. Since unexpected faults of Web service composition may occur in different levels at runtime, log analysis as a typical data- driven approach for fault diagnosis is more applicable and scalable in various architectures. Considering the trend that more and more service logs are represented using XML or JSON format which has good flexibility and interoperability, fault classification problem of semi-structured logs is considered as a challenging issue in this area. However, most existing approaches focus on the log content analysis but ignore the structural information and lead to poor performance. To improve the accuracy of fault classification, we exploit structural similarity of log files and propose a similarity based Bayesian learning approach for semi-structured logs in this paper. Our solution estimates degrees of similarity among structural elements from heterogeneous log data, constructs combined Bayesian network （CBN）, uses similarity based learning algorithm to compute probabilities in CBN, and classifies test log data into most probable fault categories based on the generated CBN. Experimental results show that our approach outperforms other learning approaches on structural log datasets.

随着互联网走入社会生活,网络聊天逐渐成为一种新的沟通渠道,网络聊天语言便应运而生。这类语言的日益丰富,给语言信息处理带来了新的挑战。研究发现,困难主要来自网络聊天语言的奇异性和动态性。本文借助真实网络聊天语言文本,对网络聊天语言的奇异性和动态性进行详细分析和归纳,并设计了面向解决奇异性和动态性问题的网络聊天语言文本识别与转换方法。我们先以网络聊天语言语料库为基础建立网络聊天语言模型和语言转换模型,通过信源?信道模型实现网络聊天语言向标准语言的转换。但该方法过于依赖网络聊天语言语料库,虽然能较好解决奇异性问题,但不能处理动态性问题。因此,我们进而以标准汉语语料库为基础建立文字语音映射模型,对信源?信道模型进行改进,最终有效解决了网络聊天语言的动态性问题。

The Reformatsky reagent derived from ethyl bromoacetate circumvents the challenge associated with the direct regio-and enantioselective iridium-catalyzed allylic alkylation with an unstabilized aliphatic ester enolate. Notably, this work represents the first example of using a Reformatsky reagent in a metal-allyl reaction, which permits the direct construction of enantioenriched β-stereogenic homoallylic esters without preactivation of the pronucleophile or post-reaction modification of the product(e.g., thermal decarboxylation of a 1,3-dicarbonyl). Moreover, the process allows the coupling of a broad range of sterically and electronically diverse electrophiles bearing aryl, heteroaryl and alkenyl derivatives, including the significantly more challenging alkyl-substituted allylic carbonates. The versatility of the ester product is exemplified by a series of functional group manipulations and the development of a concise and efficient enantioselective total synthesis of the natural product,(+)-descurainolide A. Finally, mechanistic studies indicate that the zinc enolate behaves as a soft nucleophile that undergoes outer-sphere alkylation.
