Quality of spring water used for irrigation in the Almora District of Uttarakhand, India

This paper aims to propose a quality profile of springs of the study area for irrigation. In the present study, fifty-four springs in Almora have been identified from rural as well as urban localities for calculation of irriga- tional water quality parameters during pre-monsoon, monsoon and post-monsoon, 2008. Spring water samples are collected and analyzed for pH, electrical conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (TDS), na+ , K+ , Ca2+ , Mg2+ , HCO3- , Cl- , and SO42- . Different irrigation quality parameters viz. salinity, sodium adsorption ratio (SAR), soluble sodium percentage (SSP), residual sodium carbonate (RSC), magnesium hazards (MH) and permeability index (PI) are calculated for the evaluation of spring water quality for irrigation purposes. All springs are found excellent to good based on irrigation quality parameters. Based on Wilcox diagram, about 98% of the water resources are grouped as C1S1 (low-low) and C2S1 (medium-low) classes, so springs are suitable for normal irrigation.

The present study aims to understand the hydrochemical evolution of groundwater in the Ghaggar River Basin,representing a zone of excessive abstraction of groundwater in the northwestern Indo-Gangetic *** study comprises a regional scale and high-resolution sampling of groundwater during preand post-monsoon seasons of 2013 and their analyses for major ions,δ^(18)O,δ^(2)H,and 3 *** in hydrochemical and isotopic data is found both in spatial and vertical *** significant vertical variation of TDS,NO_(3)and K^(+)allowed the classification of the aquifer system into two major groups:shallow(depth80 m bgl).The depthwise variations ofδ^(18)O andδ^(2)H support this categorization of the *** Ca-HCO_(3)and Ca-Mg-na-HCO_(3)water facies with higher values of 3 H in the proximal part of the basin characterize recharge areas under humid *** dominance of Mg-na-HCO_(3)and na-HCO_(3)facies in shallow and deep aquifers in central part of the basin,illustrate the intermediate to advanced stages of hydrochemical evolution in the *** of brackish Ca-Mg-Cl-SO_(4)and na-Cl-SO_(4)water types in the discharge areas is due to the prevailing geological conditions and anthropogenic *** modelling supports the reverse cation exchange and mixing during lateral and vertical flows,weathering of silicate minerals,dissolution of crustal salts,and evaporative enrichment are the natural processes governing the evolution of groundwater chemistry along the *** developed process-based conceptual model will aid in the formulation of a suitable plan for groundwater resource management in the region.

Bacterial Community Associated with Autotrophic and Heterotrophic Cultures of Medicinal Plant Smallanthus sonchifolius (Yacon)

Several unfruitful attempts to grow axenic shoot cultures of Smallanthus sonchifolius, also known as yacon, were made before healthy shoots grew in association with bacteria on half strength Murashigue and Skoog media supplemented with 2.2 μM benzylaminopurine. Twenty-one bacterial isolates were obtained from in vitro S. sonchifolius plantlets, eight of these isolates were identified as Flavimonas oryzihabitans, Curtobacterium pusillum, Sphingomonas paucimobilis, and Microbacterium imperiale. These microorganisms produced indole acetic acid (IAA) at amounts varying between 8.89 to 47.45 μg/mL, reason for being classified as plant growth promoting bacteria (PGPB). The results show that buds associated with bacteria cultured on sucrose free media produced 3.77 new roots measuring 18.33 cm in length after a 30-day growing period. In contrast, buds growing on sucrose supplemented media, the number of roots induced was higher (6.67 to 14 roots/explant) but shorter in length, 4.67 to 5.83 cm. During plant acclimatization to soil, photosynthesis and water efficiency were measured showing that the plants were healthy and vigorous. A slightly higher rate of photosynthesis and water use efficiency was recorded in the plants produced on heterotrophic conditions as compared to plants grown in sucrose free media. Plants adapted well in the soil demonstrating that the PGPB community associated to S. sonchifolius in shoot cultures was not harmful to plant production. The purpose of this study was to demonstrate that the bacteria associated with in vitro S. sonchifolius shoot cultures was not the result of microbial contamination, but rather from symbiotic associations that extended from cultivation in the greenhouse, to culture and back to soil. This is the first report to show that autotrophic cultures may represent a viable alternative to grow healthy plants without eliminating beneficial bacteria associated with the host.

Several obstacles to the production,expansion and genetic modification of immunotherapeutic T cells in vitro have restricted the widespread use of T-cell *** the context of HSCT,delayed naïve T-cell recovery contributes to poor outcomes.A novel approach to overcome the major limitations of both T-cell immunotherapy and HSCT would be to transplant human T-lymphoid progenitors(HTLPs),allowing reconstitution of a fully functional naïve T-cell pool in the patient ***,it is challenging to produce HTLPs in the high numbers required to meet clinical ***,we found that adding tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNFα)to a DL-4-based culture system led to the generation of a large number of nonmodified or genetically modified HTLPs possessing highly efficient in vitro and in vivo T-cell potential from either CB HSPCs or mPB HSPCs through accelerated T-cell differentiation and enhanced HTLP cell cycling and *** study provides a clinically suitable cell culture platform to generate high numbers of clinically potent nonmodified or genetically modified HTLPs for accelerating immune recovery after HSCT and for T-cell-based immunotherapy(including CAR T-cell therapy).

目前,国内外许多学者对水平井产能作了大量的研究,然而,利用前人推导的水平井产能公式计算窄条状油田的水平井产能误差较大,无法合理预测该类型油田的水平井产能。利用镜像反映和势叠加原理等渗流理论,推导了窄条状油田的水平井产能公式,并与现场实际产量进行对比,相对误差小于10%。本文的结果对水平井在窄条状型油田开发中的实际应用提供了理论基础。
