Substrate temperature dependent studies on properties of chemical spray pyrolysis deposited CdS thin films for solar cell applications

Thin films of CdS have been prepared by chemical spray pyrolysis by spraying precursor solution directly onto soda lime glass（SLG） substrates. Influence of substrate temperature on structural, optical, morphological and electrical properties have been investigated by using various techniques such as low angle X-ray diffraction（XRD）, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS）, field emission scanning electron microscopy（FESEM）, atomic force microscopy（AFM）, transmission electron microscopy（TEM）, UV–visible spectroscopy photoluminescence（PL） spectroscopy etc. Formation of CdS has been confirmed by low angle XRD,Raman spectroscopy and XPS analysis. XRD pattern showed that CdS films are polycrystalline, have hexagonal structure and prefer orientation of crystallites shifts from（101） to（002） with increase in substrate *** spectroscopy revealed that exciton-phonon coupling depends on substrate temperature and hence on crystallite size. Optical band gap increased from 2.43 to 2.99 eV when substrate temperature increased from 325 to 475 ℃. Transmittance of the film also showed an increasing trend from 52% to 80% with increase in substrate temperature. Such high band gap and transmittance values of CdS films prepared at 475℃ make it a useful window material in CdS/CdTe and CdS/Cu_2S heterojunction solar cells.

Excitons,bound electron–hole pairs,in two-dimensional hybrid organic inorganic perovskites(2D HOIPs)are capable of forming hybrid light-matter states known as exciton-polaritons(E–Ps)when the excitonic medium is confined in an optical *** the case of 2D HOIPs,they can self-hybridize into E–Ps at specific thicknesses of the HOIP crystals that form a resonant optical cavity with the ***,the fundamental properties of these self-hybridized E–Ps in 2D HOIPs,including their role in ultrafast energy and/or charge transfer at interfaces,remain ***,we demonstrate that>0.5µm thick 2D HOIP crystals on Au substrates are capable of supporting multiple-orders of self-hybridized E–P *** E–Ps have high Q factors(>100)and modulate the optical dispersion for the crystal to enhance sub-gap absorption and *** varying excitation energy and ultrafast measurements,we also confirm energy transfer from higher energy E–Ps to lower energy E–***,we also demonstrate that E–Ps are capable of charge transport and transfer at *** findings provide new insights into charge and energy transfer in E–Ps opening new opportunities towards their manipulation for polaritonic devices.

Dragonfly Inspired Nanocomposite Flapping Wing for Micro Air Vehicles

The current research is aimed towards the development of dragonfly inspired nanocomposite flapping wing for micro air vehicles(MAVs).The wing is designed by taking inspiration from the hind wing of dragonfly(Anax Parthenope Julius).Carbon nanotubes(CNTs)/polypropylene nanocomposite and low-density polyethylene are used as the wing *** nanocomposites are developed with varying CNTs'weight percentage(0%-1%)and characterized for dynamic mechanical properties,which revealed that the 0.1 weight percentage case produces highest storage modulus values throughout the frequency range(1 Hz一90 Hz).It is also observed that the storage modulus values are in the range ofYoung^modulus of veins and membrane of natural insect *** is useful to achieve true *** manufacturing technique such as photolithography is used for wing *** length,weight and average thickness of the fabricated wing are^44 mm,26.22 mg and 187 pm,*** structural dynamic properties of the fa bricated wing are obtained experimentally and computationally using DIC and ANSYS,*** developed dragonfly inspired wing showed a natural frequency of 29.4 Hz with a bending mode shape which is close to the characteristic frequency of its natural counterpart.

Pangenome analysis of Enterobacteria reveals richness of secondary metabolite gene clusters and their associated gene sets

In silico genome mining provides easy access to secondary metabolite biosynthetic gene clusters(BGCs)encoding the biosynthesis of many bioactive compounds,which are the basis for many important drugs used in human ***,the association between BGCs and other functions encoded in the genomes of producers have remained ***,we present a systems biology workflow that integrates genome mining with a detailed pangenome analysis for detecting genes associated with a particular *** analyzed 3,889 enterobacterial genomes and found 13,266 BGCs,represented by 252 distinct BGC families and 347 additional singletons.A pangenome analysis revealed 88 genes putatively associated with a specific BGC coding for the colon cancer-related colibactin that code for diverse metabolic and regulatory *** presented workflow opens up the possibility to discover novel secondary metabolites,better understand their physiological roles,and provides a guide to identify and analyze BGC associated gene sets.

Photoelectrocatalytic activity of immobilized Yb doped WO3 photocatalyst for degradation of methyl orange dye

Pure WOand Yb:WOthin films have been synthesized by spray pyrolysis technique. Effect of Yb doping concentration on photoelectrochemical, structural, morphological and optical properties of thin films are studied. X-ray diffraction analysis shows that all thin films are polycrystalline nature and exhibit monoclinic crystal structure. The 3 at% Yb:WOfilm shows superior photoelectrochemical（PEC） performance than that of pure WOfilm and it shows maximum photocurrent density（Iph= 1090 μA/cm） having onset potentials around +0.3 V/SCE in 0.01 M HClO. The photoelectrocatalytic process is more effective than that of the photocatalytic process for degradation of methyl orange（MO） dye. Yb doping in WOphotocatalyst is greatly effective to degrade MO dye. The enhancement in photoelectrocatalytic activity is mainly due to the suppressing the recombination rate of photogenerated electron-hole pairs. The mineralization of MO dye in aqueous solution is studied by measuring chemical oxygen demand（COD） values.

Lanthanum(Ⅲ) sorption studies on poly[dibenzo-18-crown-6] and its separation from uranium(Ⅵ) and thorium(Ⅳ) in L-valine medium

The sorption study of La(Ⅲ) was carried out on poly[dibenzo-18-crown-6] and L-valine medium. The quantitative adsorption of La(Ⅲ) was found at 1×10-2 to 1×10-5 mol/L L-valine. The various eluting agents were found efficient eluents for La(Ⅲ). The capacity of crown polymer for La(Ⅲ) was found to be 0.43 ±0.01 mmol/g. The tolerance limit of various cations and anions for La(Ⅲ) was determined. La(Ⅲ) was quantitatively separated from other metal ions in binary as well as multicomponent mixtures. The study was extended to sequential separation of La(Ⅲ), U(VI) and Th(IV). The good separation yields were obtained and had good reproducibility (±2%). The method incorporated the determination of La(Ⅲ) in real sample. The method was simple, rapid and selective.

Impact of Chain Length of Saturated Fatty Acids during Their Heterogeneously Catalyzed Deoxygenation

Fatty acids with different chain length were deoxygenated in the absence of hydrogen (caprylic acid (CA), lauric acid (LA) and stearic acid (SA)). The catalytic tests were carried over Pd-containing catalysts out in a batch reactor under inert gas for 6 h at 250°C to 350°C and pressures from 18 to 75 bar in the absence of additionally fed hydrogen. Pd-containing catalysts were tested;the best performing catalyst was 10% Pd/C with 63% undecane yield at 327°C. These catalysts were used for a comparative decarboxylation of CA, LA and SA. At equal reaction conditions (300°C, 6 h), the chain length of the fatty acid had a strong impact on the conversion, which was steadily increasing, whereas the alkane selectivity ran through a maximum. This work demonstrated the usability of Pd-containing catalysts for the decarboxylation of various fatty acids in the absence of additionally fed hydrogen with respect to the manufacture of hydrocarbons that can be used as blending components for fuels.

A column chromatographic method has been developed for the separation and determination of cerium(Ⅲ) using poly[dibenzo-18-crown-6].The separation was carried out in L-valine *** adsorption of cerium(Ⅲ) was quantitative from 1×10-1 to 1×10-4 mol/L *** the various eluents,1.0-8.0 mol/L hydrochloric acid,1.0-8.0 mol/L hydrobromic acid,1.0-8.0 mol/L perchloric acid,1.0-2.0 mol/L sulfuric acid and 4.0-5.0 mol/L acetic acid,were found to be the efficient eluents for cerium(Ⅲ).The capacity of poly[dibenzo-18-crown-6] for cerium(Ⅲ) was(0.428±0.01) mmol/*** method was applied to the separation of cerium(Ⅲ) from associated elements link uranium(Ⅵ) and thorium(Ⅳ).It was also applied for the determination of cerium(Ⅲ) in geological *** method is simple,rapid and selective with good reproducibility(approximately±2%).

Axial Tensile Testing of Single Fibres

The mechanical and damage properties of single fibres used in fibrous composite have gained tremendous importance in recent years. These properties are used in determination of effective properties of composites by micromechanics. These are also used in the micromechanical damage modeling. Further, these properties are used as an indicator of the excellence of product by manufacturers. In the present study the axial tensile modulus, ultimate strength and failure strain of single fibres are determined for carbon and glass fibres. ASTM D3379-75 standard is followed and a number of fibers are tested for statistical analysis. The axial tensile moduli measured are 246.7 GPa and 93.3 GPa, respectively and strength are 3031.6 MPa and 2035.9 MPa, respectively for carbon and glass fibres. Further, the respective axial tensile failure strains are 0.0137 and 0.0224. The error in the measurement of axial modulus is below 8% while for axial tensile strength is below 1%.
