Objective: To evaluate transperineal laser ablation (TPLA) with Echolaser® (Echolaser® TPLA, Elesta s.p.A., Calenzano, Italy) as a treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate cancer (PCa) using the Delphi consensus ***: Italian and international experts on BPH and PCa participated in a collaborative consensus project. During two rounds, they expressed their opinions on Echolaser® TPLA for the treatment of BPH and PCa answering online questionnaires on indications, methodology, and potential complications of this technology. Level of agreement or disagreement to reach consensus was set at 75%. If the consensus was not achieved, questions were modified after each round. A final round was performed during an online meeting, in which results were discussed and ***: Thirty-two out of forty invited experts participated and consensus was reached on all topics. Agreement was achieved on recommending Echolaser® TPLA as a treatment of BPH in patients with ample range of prostate volume, from mL (80%) to >80 mL (80%), comorbidities (100%), antiplatelet or anticoagulant treatment (96%), indwelling catheter (77%), and strong will of preserving ejaculatory function (100%). majority of respondents agreed that Echolaser® TPLA is a potential option for the treatment of localized PCa (78%) and recommended it for low-risk PCa (90%). During the final round, experts concluded that it can be used for intermediate-risk PCa and it should be proposed as an effective alternative to radical prostatectomy for patients with strong will of avoiding urinary incontinence and sexual dysfunction. Almost all participants agreed that the transperineal approach of this organ-sparing technique is safer than transrectal and transurethral approaches typical of other techniques (97% of agreement among experts). Removal of saxitoxin and anatoxin-a by PAC in the presence and absence of microcystin-LR and/or cyanobacterial cells

Cyanobacteria can produce cyanotoxins such as microcystin-LR(mC),saxitoxin(sTX),and anatoxin-a(ANTX-a)which are harmful to humans and other *** removal efficiencies of sTX and ANTX-a by powdered activated carbon(PAC)was investigated,aswell as when mC-LR and cyanobacteriawere *** conductedwith distilled water and then source water,using the PAC dosages,rapid mix/flocculation mixing intensities and contact times of two drinking water treatment plants in northeast *** pH 8 and 9,sTX removal was 47%-81%in distilled water and 46%-79%in source water,whereas it was 0-28%for pH 6 in distilled water and 31%-52%in source *** 1.6μg/L or 20μg/L mC-LR was present with sTX,sTX removal was increased with PAC simultaneously removing 45%-65%of the 1.6μg/L mC-LR and 25%-95%of the 20μg/L mC-LR depending on the ***-a removal at pH 6 was 29%-37%for distilled water and 80%for source water,whereas it was 10%-26%for pH 8 in distilled water and 28%for pH 9 in source *** presence of cyanobacteria cells decreased ANTX-a removal by at least 18%.When 20μg/L mC-LR was present with ANTX-a in source water,59%-73%ANTX-a and 48%-77%of mCLR was removed at pH 9 depending on the PAC *** general,a higher PAC dose led to higher cyanotoxin *** study also documented that multiple cyanotoxins can be effectively removed by PAC for water at pH’s between 6 and 9.

The authors obtain new characterizations of unconditional Cauchy series in terms of separation properties of subfamilies of p(N), and a generalization of the Orlicz-Pettis Theorem is also obtained. New results on the uniform convergence on matrices and a new version of the Hahn-schur summation theorem are proved. For matrices whose rows define unconditional Cauchy series, a better sufficient condition for the basic matrix Theorem of Antosik and swartz, new necessary conditions and a new proof of that theorem are given.

Did maize domestication and early spread mediate the population genetics of corn leafhopper?

Investigating how crop domestication and early farming mediated crop attributes, distributions, and interactions with antagonists may shed light on today's agricultural pest problems. Crop domestication generally involved artificial selection for traits desirable to early farmers, for example, in creased productivity or yield, and enhanced qualities, though invariably it altered the interactions between crops and insects, and expanded the geographical ranges of crops. Thus, some studies suggest that with crop domestication and spread, insect populations on wild crop ancestors gave rise to pestiferous insect populations on crops. Here, we addressed whether the emergence of corn leafhopper (Dalbulus ma id is) as an agricultural pest may be associated with domestication and early spread of maize (Zea mays mays). We used AFLP markers and mitochondrial COI sequences to assess population genetic structuring and haplotype relationships among corn leafhopper samples from maize and its wild relative Zea diploperennis from multiple locations in mexico and Argentina. We uncovered seven corn leafhopper haplotypes contained within two haplogroups, one haplogroup containing haplotypes associated with maize and the other containing haplotypes associated with Z. diploperennis in a mountainous habitat. Within the first haplogroup, one haplotype was predominant across mexican locations, and another across Argentinean locations;both were considered pestiferous. We suggested that the divergence times of the maize-associated haplogroup and of the "pestiferous" haplotypes are correlated with the chronology of maize spread following its domestication. Overall, our results support a hypothesis positing that maize domestication favored corn leafhopper genotypes preadapted for exploiting maize so that they became pestiferous, and that with the geographical expansi on of maize farming, corn leafhopper colonized Z. diploperennis, a host exclusive to secluded habitats that serves as a refuge fo

swiss pumped hydro storage potential for Germany’s electricity system under high penetration of intermittent renewable energy

In order to cut greenhouse-gas emissions and increase energy security,the European Commission stimulates the deployment of intermittent renewable energy sources(IREs) towards *** an electricity system with high shares of IREs implemented in the network,energy balancing like storage is needed to secure grid stability and smooth demand *** hydro storage(PHs) is at this moment the best option for large scale *** has strong ambitions to further develop their PHs sector and become the battery of *** this research,the potential of the swiss PsH plants is explored,whilst taking inflow into the upper reservoirs of the PHs plants into *** simulate electricity imbalance,Germany is used as a case *** already has a high penetration of IREs and has plans to increase installed IREs *** using an energy planning model(Power Plan),three future scenarios of the German electricity system were designed,each with a different set of IREs installed(solar,mixed and wind).Results show that the swiss battery ambition offers most benefits to a wind-oriented scenario,reducing both shortages as well as *** inflow in swiss PHs-reservoirs is of minor importance when looking at security of supply,although it was shown that the solarscenario profits more from inflow in terms of system ***,a potential conflict was observed in the solar-scenario between the need for electricity storage and the storage of natural inflow,resulting in more surpluses in the system when inflow was taken into account.

Precipitation analysis of as-cast HK40 steel after isothermal aging

As-cast HK40 steel was aged at 700, 800, or 900℃ for times as long as 2000 h. microstructural characterization showed that the primary m_7C_3 carbide network contained a substantial content of manganese, in agreement with the microsegregation of manganese calculated by Thermo-Calc using the scheil–Gulliver module. The dissolution of primary carbides caused the solute supersaturation of austenite and subsequent precipitation of fine m_(23)C_6 carbides in the austenite matrix for aged specimens. During prolonged aging, the carbide size increased with increasing time because of the coarsening process. A time–temperature–precipitation diagram for m_(23)C_6 carbides was calculated using the Thermo-CalcPRIsmA software; this diagram showed good agreement with the experimental growth kinetics of precipitation. The fine carbide precipitation caused an increase in hardness; however, the coarsening process of carbides promoted a decrease in hardness. Nanoindentation tests of the austenite matrix indicated an increase in ductility with increasing aging time.

Crude oil as an energy source is widely considered as the most important energy in the world even with the rapid growth of alternative *** problem of oil production decline has addressed growing concerns about applying new technology such as waterflooding to increase the oil recovery *** has been highly relying on the revenue from oil ***,it is critical to evaluate the profitability of waterflooding technology in Ecuador and provide policy suggestions to the *** purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of applying water injection in the oilfields of Ecuador using both deterministic and probabilistic *** data used with the purposes of the economic valuation is collected from an Ecuadorian oilfield(CUP Field).Three alternative options are proposed based on different timing of waterflooding application,through Discounted Cash Flow Analysis and monte Carlo simulation the alternatives are compared to identify the most profitable development option for a reservoir to be produced with water *** influence of different strategies on profitability and the risks introduced by uncertainties on the oilfield development projects are discussed in this study as well.A waterflooding alternative applied from the beginning of the oilfield development got NPV of 94.48 mmUsD and Internal rate of return of 44.42%.Furthermore,probabilities of getting a positive outcome for NPV and IRR are 95% and 96.7 % *** combination of the two methods allows the decision maker to improve their decision process,with the insights provided by economic indicators as the net present value and internal rate of ***,with the probabilities of getting positive outcomes generated by the simulation,it provided an improvement of the criterion reaching high-level reliability.
