The interannual periodicity of precipitation and its links to the large-scale circulations over the Third Pole

To understand the spatio-temporal variability of precipitation(P)in the Third Pole region(centered on the Tibetan Plateau-TP),it is necessary to quantify the interannual periodicity of P and its relationship with large-scale *** this study,Morlet wavelet transform was used to detect significant(plimate domains in the Third Pole,and to reveal the major large-scale circulations that triggered the variability of periodic P,in addition to bringing large amounts of water *** wavelet transform results were as follows.(1)Significant quasiperiodicity varied from 2 to 11 *** high-frequency variability mode(2 to 6 years quasi-periods)was universal,and the low-frequency variability mode(7 to 11 years quasi-periods)was rare,occurring mainly in the westerlies and Indian monsoon domains.(2)The majority of periods were base periods(53%),followed by two-base *** all stations in the Third Pole(95%)showed one or two periods.(3)Periodicity was widely detected in the majority of years(84%).(4)The power spectra of P in the four domains were dominated by statistically significant high-frequency oscillations(ie.,with short periodicity).(5)Large-scale circulations directly and indirectly influenced the periodic P variability in the different *** mode of P variability in the different domains was influenced by interactions between large-scale circulation features and not only by the dominant circulation and its control of water vapour *** results of this study will contribute to better understanding of the causal mechanisms associated with P variability,which is important for hydrological science and waterresourcemanagement.

Polymer density-functional theories(PDFTs)have distinct advantages in the study of polyelectrolyte(PE)systems over experiments and molecular *** we give an introductory review of some PDFTs recently developed for PE *** start with a general formalism of PDFTs and its relation to the widely used polymer self-consistent field theory(SCFT),then explain the various correlations that are neglected in SCFT but can be accounted for in PDFTs,including those due to the excluded-volume interaction and chain connectivity of uncharged polymers,the electrostatic correlations of small ions,and the chain correlations in *** also list some applications of PDFTs for PE systems,and finally give some perspectives on future *** hope that our review can attract more researchers to apply and further develop PDFTs as a promising class of theoretical and computational tools.

Evolution of MnO–SiO2–Al_(2)O_(3)–MgO inclusions during heat treatment at 1100℃

To investigate the evolutionary behavior of the MnO–SiO_(2)–Al_(2)O_(3)–MgO inclusions during heat treatment,water quenched samples were isothermally held at 1100°C for 120 min in Ar and air atmosphere,and the obtaining samples were analyzed by X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive *** showed that 3MnO·Al_(2)O_(3)·3SiO_(2)and MnO·SiO_(2)were detected in the 5 wt.%MgO system after isothermal holding in Ar atmosphere,while MgO·Al_(2)O_(3),MnO·SiO_(2)and Mn7O8·SiO4 were detected in air *** evolutionary behavior of the 10,15 and 20 wt.%MgO systems after isothermal holding in different atmosphere were *** affected the solid phase transformation of the low MgO content *** calculation results of FactSage 8.1 showed that MgO·Al_(2)O_(3)was formed in the 5 wt.%MgO system with air *** solid phase transformation was accompanied by grain coarsening during the isothermal holding *** differences in the solid phase transformation in different atmosphere of the 5 wt.%MgO system indicated that it was a gas-phase transport grain coarsening *** enrichment of Al element in the liquid phase region at the grain edges,the homogeneous distribution of Mg element and the disappearance of the liquid phase within the crystal revealed that other MgO content systems were liquid–solid transport grain coarsening mechanism.

Correlation between longitudinal crack occurrence and mold heat transfer in continuous casting based on process data mining

The correlation between the longitudinal crack occurrence and integrated heat transfer of the mold with data mining methods was ***,three kinds of support vector machine models based on principal component analysis with different input features were established to explore the effect of integrated heat transfer on the accuracy of the prediction model for the longitudinal *** results show that the accuracy was improved while features including mean and standard deviation of integrated heat transfer were ***,the difference in integrated heat transfer between defect and normal samples under the same process parameters was quantitatively *** with normal samples,the temperature difference of cooling water for defect samples decreased by 0.65%,and the temperature difference fluctuation increased by 31.1%.Finally,the literature data were used to provide support for the quantitative correlation according to defect formation mechanism.A new criterion for the prediction of longitudinal crack and a discovering method for correlation between product quality and process parameters in the manufacturing industry have been provided.

Predicting carbon storage of mixed broadleaf forests based on the finite mixture model incorporating stand factors,site quality,and aridity index

The diameter distribution function(DDF)is a crucial tool for accurately predicting stand carbon storage(CS).The current key issue,however,is how to construct a high-precision DDF based on stand factors,site quality,and aridity index to predict stand CS in multi-species mixed forests with complex *** study used data from70 survey plots for mixed broadleaf Populus davidiana and Betula platyphylla forests in the Mulan Rangeland State Forest,Hebei Province,China,to construct the DDF based on maximum likelihood estimation and finite mixture model(FMM).Ordinary least squares(OLS),linear seemingly unrelated regression(LSUR),and back propagation neural network(BPNN)were used to investigate the influences of stand factors,site quality,and aridity index on the shape and scale parameters of DDF and predicted stand CS of mixed broadleaf *** results showed that FMM accurately described the stand-level diameter distribution of the mixed *** and *** forests;whereas the Weibull function constructed by MLE was more accurate in describing species-level diameter *** combined variable of quadratic mean diameter(Dq),stand basal area(BA),and site quality improved the accuracy of the shape parameter models of FMM;the combined variable of Dq,BA,and De Martonne aridity index improved the accuracy of the scale parameter *** to OLS and LSUR,the BPNN had higher accuracy in the re-parameterization process of ***,LSUR,and BPNN overestimated the CS of *** but underestimated the CS of *** in the large diameter classes(DBH≥18 cm).BPNN accurately estimated stand-and species-level CS,but it was more suitable for estimating stand-level CS compared to species-level CS,thereby providing a scientific basis for the optimization of stand structure and assessment of carbon sequestration capacity in mixed broadleaf forests.

An improved strain-softening constitutive model of granite considering the effect of crack deformation

Due to their superior fluorescence,phosphorescence,and catalytic capabilities,carbon dots(CDs),an emerging class of fluorescent carbon nanomaterials,have a wide range of potential *** properties of CDs have recently been controlled extensively by heteroatom *** atoms have been effectively doped into the structure of CDs due to their similar size to carbon atoms and excellent electron-absorbing ability to further improve the performance of *** this review,we summarize the research progress of boron-doped CDs in recent years from the aspects of doping strategies,effects of boron doping on different performances of CDs and *** from the two aspects of single boron doping and boron and other atom co-doping,from different precursor materials to different synthesis methods,the doping strategies of boron-doped CDs are reviewed in ***,the effects of boron doping on the fluorescence,phosphorescence and catalytic performance of CDs and applications of boron-doped CDs in optical sensors,information encryption and anti-counterfeiting are ***,we further provide a prospect towards the future development of boron-doped CDs.

Crack mechanism of ground fissures in loess layer of Fenwei Basin, China

The Fenwei Basin, covered by loess, experiences severe ground fissure disasters. These disasters disrupt the continuity of the loess and pose significant threats to engineering construction safety along transportation routes. Nevertheless, the crack characteristics and the influence zone of ground fissures in the loess layer remain inadequately investigated. To effectively prevent and control ground fissure disasters, physical model tests and the PFC(particle flow code) numerical simulation method are used to investigate the crack mechanism of buried ground fissures in the loess layer. The results show that there are two main cracks in the layer profile, which have a Y-shape morphology. As the dip angle of the preset cracks increased from 60° to 90°, the main deformation zone at the surface gradually shifted towards the footwall. The process of crack propagation from depth to surface is divided into five stages. Additionally, the results confirm the accuracy of the width of the rupture zone d2in the footwall calculated by the cantilever beam theory. These findings can offer theoretical guidance for determining the avoidance distance of ground fissures in loess regions, as well as for implementing disaster prevention and corresponding control measures for various stages of buried ground fissure propagation.

Ectomycorrhizal fungi and dark septate endophyte inoculation improve growth and tolerance of Pinus tabulaeformis under cadmium stress

Forest trees can establish symbiotic associations with dark septate endophytes(DSEs)and ectomycorrhizal fungi(ECMF)***,the combined effects of these two fungi on the growth and cadmium(Cd)tolerance of host plants remain largely *** address this knowledge gap,a pot experiment was conducted to examine the effects of the interaction between an ECMF strain(Suillus granulatus)and a DSE strain(Pseudopyrenochaeta sp.)on Pinus tabulaeformis under Cd stress,by assessing plant growth and physiological parameters,nutrient uptake,and soil ***,the colonization rates of both fungal strains were found to increase in response to Cd stress,with the extent of this increase being influenced by the specific fungal species and the Cd level in the *** to the non-inoculation treatment,single inoculation with fungal strain resulted in enhanced biomass,root development,and nutrient contents in *** seedlings under Cd ***,a synergistic effect was observed when these seedlings were co-inoculated with *** and Pseudopyrenochaeta sp.,as indicated by significantly greater measurements in various indicators compared to both the single and non-inoculation *** inoculation effectively regulated the antioxidant defense responses and photosynthesis of *** seedlings subjected to Cd stress,particularly in the co-inoculation *** addition,fungal inoculation facilitated the Cd accumulation in ***,suggesting a promising potential for the implementation of bioremediation strategies in the areas contaminated with heavy *** findings from this study indicate that the utilization of root symbiotic fungi obtained from stress environments could potentially enhance the growth performance and tolerance of *** towards heavy metals,and co-inoculation of both fungal groups may result in even more pronounced synergistic effects on the overall fitness of the plant.
