Gene interference regulates aquaporin-4 expression in swollen tissue of rats with cerebral ischemic edema Correlation with variation in apparent diffusion coefficient

To investigate the effects of mRNA interference on aquaporin-4 expression in swollen tissue of rats with ischemic cerebral edema, and diagnose the significance of diffusion-weighted MRI, we injected 5 pL shRNA- aquaporin-4 （control group） or siRNA- aquaporin-4 solution （1：800）（RNA interference group） into the rat right basal ganglia immediately before occlusion of the middle cerebral artery. At 0.25 hours after occlusion of the middle cerebral artery, diffusion-weighted MRI displayed a high signal; within 2 hours, the relative apparent diffusion coefficient decreased markedly, aquaporin-4 expression increased rapidly, and intracellular edema was obviously aggravated; at 4 and 6 hours, the relative apparent diffusion coefficient slowly returned to control levels, aquaporin-4 expression slightly increased, and angioedema was observed. In the RNA interference group, during 0.25- 6 hours after injection of siRNA- aquaporin-4 solution, the relative apparent diffusion coefficient slightly fluctuated and aquaporin-4 expression was upregulated; during 0.5 4 hours, the relative apparent diffusion coefficient was significantly higher, while aquaporin-4 expression was significantly lower when compared with the control group, and intracellular edema was markedly reduced; at 0.25 and 6 hours, the relative apparent diffusion coefficient and aquaporin-4 expression were similar when compared with the control group; obvious angioedema remained at 6 hours. Pearson＇s correlation test results showed that aquaporin-4 expression was negatively correlated with the apparent diffusion coefficient （r = -0.806, P 〈 0.01）. These findings suggest that upregulated aquaporin-4 expression is likely to be the main molecular mechanism of intracellular edema and may be the molecular basis for decreased relative apparent diffusion coefficient. Determination of the metastable zone and induction time of thiourea for cooling crystallization

The solubility,metastable zone width(MSZW),and induction time of thiourea for cooling crystallization were experimentally determined in the temperature range of 283-323 *** solubility data could be well described by the Apelblat equation model as lnx=-99.55+1071.66/T+16.27 *** determinations of the effects of various stirring and cooling rates indicated that the MSZW increased with increasing and decreasing cooling and stirring rates,***,the induction times at various temperatures and supersaturation ratios were also *** results indicated that homogeneous nucleation could occur at high supersaturation,whereas heterogeneous nucleation was more likely to occur at low *** on the classical nucleation theory and induction period data,the calculated solid-liquid interfacial tensions of thiourea in deionized water at 302.46 and 312.58 K were 2.86 and 2.94 mJ·m^(-2),respectively.

Preparation and electromagnetic properties of nanosized Co_(0.5)Zn_(0.5)Fe_(2)O_(4) ferrite

Nanosized Co_(0.5)Zn_(0.5)Fe_(2)O_(4) ferrite was prepared by chemical co-precipitation *** samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),field-emission transmission electron microscopy(FETEM),vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM)and network *** analysis indicates that the diameter of as-prepared powder is about 20-30 *** saturation magnetization of nanosized Co_(0.5)Zn_(0.5)Fe_(2)O_(4) ferrite is 74.01 mA·m^(2)·g^(−1).The complex permittivity and complex permeability of the Co-Zn ferrite were measured by vector network analyzer in the frequency range of 2.0-18.0 GHz,and the reflection loss(RL)was investigated according to the wave transmission *** results show that the maximum reflection loss reaches−13.7 dB at 6.8 GHz and the bandwidth of reflection loss less than−10 dB reaches 3.8 *** as-prepared nanosized Co_(0.5)Zn_(0.5)Fe_(2)O_(4) ferrite can be potentially used as an excellent microwave absorber in the C-band.

We present here a novel strategy for the chemical recycling of bio-based poly(ethylene furanoate)s(PEF)to value-added high-performance bio-based poly(ethylene-co-isosorbide furanoate)(PEIF)copolyesters by the combination of cyclodepolymerization method with rapid cascade polycondensation-coupling ring-opening polymerization(PROP).The solution cyclodepolymerization of commercially available PEF affords cyclic oligo(ethylene 2,5-furandicarboxylate)s(COEFs),and the effects of reaction conditions on the yield of COEFs were *** copolyesters with different isosorbide(IS)contents were synthesized via the cascade PROP of COEFs with IS,which show significant enhanced glass transition *** melt spinning,PEIF fibers with different orientation factors were prepared,with excellent thermal stability and mechanical *** obtained PEIF fibers can lift a weight∼25000 times higher than its *** PEIF fibers are stable under ambient conditions but are biodegradable following the“surface erosion”*** sustainable value-added biodegradable PEIF fibers offer a solution to the environmentally friendly fibers.

Enhanced ferroelectric and improved leakage of BFO-based thin films through increasing entropy strategy

Platinum-based chemotherapy remains the main systemic treatment of ovarian cancer(OC).However,the inevitable development of platinum and poly(adenosine diphosphate-ribose)polymerase inhibitor(PARPi)resistance is associated with poor outcomes,which becomes a major obstacle in the management of this *** present study developed“all-in-one”nanoparticles that contained the PARPi olaparib and gallium(Ga)(III)(olaparib-Ga)to effectively reverse PARPi resistance in platinum-resistant A2780-cis and SKOV3-cis OC cells and in SKOV3-cis tumor ***,the olaparib-Ga suppressed SKOV3-cis tumor growth with negligible ***,the suppression effect was more evident when combining olaparib-Ga with cisplatin or carboplatin,as evaluated in A2780-cis and SKOV3-cis ***,the combined treatment induced DNA damage,which elicited the activation of ataxia telangiectasia mutated(ATM)/AMT-and Rad3-related(ATR)checkpoint kinase 1(Chk1)/Chk2 signal transduction *** led to the arrest of cell cycle progression at S and G2/M phases,which eventually resulted in apoptosis and cell death due to unrepairable DNA *** addition,effective therapeutic responses to olaparib-Ga and cisplatin combination or olaparib-Ga and carboplatin combination were observed in SKOV3-cis tumor-bearing animal ***,the present findings demonstrate that olaparib-Ga has therapeutic implications in platinum-resistant OC cells,and the combination of olaparib-Ga with cisplatin or carboplatin may be promising for treating patients with OC who exhibit resistance to both PARPi and platinum.

Dear Editor, Microcephalic osteodysplastic primordial dwarfism type Ⅱ (MOPD Ⅱ )is characterized by developmental retardation, wherein the affected individuals usually present with intrauterine growth retardation and preterm birth (Majewski et al.,1982;Willems et al.,2010).This leads to an average weight of lude microcephaly,disproportionately short stature,mild skeletal dysplasia,unusual facial features including a prominent nose,prominent eyes in infancy and early childhood,some affected individuals exhibit slightly reduced intellectual development and cerebral vascular malformations (Willems et al.,2010;Li et al.,2015;Sam et al.,2015).

Recently, neural models have been proposed for headline generation by learning to map documents to headlines with recurrent neural network. In this work, we give a detailed introduction and comparison of existing work and recent improvements in neural headline generation, with particular attention on how encoders, decoders and neural model training strategies alter the overall performance of the headline generation system. Furthermore, we perform quantitative analysis of most existing neural headline generation systems and summarize several key factors that impact the performance of headline generation systems. Meanwhile, we carry on detailed error analysis to typical neural headline generation systems in order to gain more comprehension. Our results and conclusions are hoped to benefit future research studies.
