Silicon sub-bandgap photodetectors can detect light at the infrared telecommunication wavelengths but with relatively weak photo-response.In this work,we demonstrate the enhancement of sub-bandgap photodetection in silicon by helium-ion implantation,without afecting the transparency that is an important benefcial feature of this type of photodetectors.With an implantation dose of 1×10^(13)ions/cm^(2),the minimal detectable optical power can be improved from−33.2 to−63.1 dBm,or,by 29.9 dB,at the wavelength of 1550 nm,and the photo-response at the same optical power(−10 dBm)can be enhanced by approximately 18.8 dB.Our work provides a method for strategically modifying the intrinsic trade-of between transparency and strong photo-responses of this type of photodetectors.

The porous metallic biomaterials have attracted significant attention for implants because their lower young's modulus matches the human bones, which can eliminate the stress shielding effect and facilitate the growth of bone tissue cells. The porous metallic biomaterials fabricated by selective laser melting (SLM) have broad prospects, but the surface of the SLM-built porous structure has been severely adhered with unmelted powders, which affects the forming accuracy and surface quality. The porous metallic biomaterials face the corrosion problem of complex body fluid environments during service, so their corrosion resistance in the human body is extremely important. The surface quality will affect the corrosion resistance of the porous metallic biomaterials. Therefore, it is necessary to study the effect of post-treatment on the corrosion resistance of SLMed samples. In this work, the mechanical response and the electrochemical corrosion behavior in simulated body fluid of diamond and pentamode metamaterials Ti-6Al-4V alloy fabricated by SLM before and after sandblasting were studied. After sandblasting, the mechanical properties of the two porous metallic biomaterials were slightly improved, and the self-corrosion potential and pitting potential were more negative;meanwhile, the self-corrosion current density and passive current density increased, indicating that its corrosion performance decreased, and the passive film stability of sandblasted samples got worse.

The value of preoperative PLR and NLR in the prognostic evaluation of lung cancer

Objective:To explore the relationship between platelet/lymphocyte ratio(PLR)and neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio(NLR)and prognosis of lung cancer patients before cold ablation.Methods:Retrospectively analyze the case data of primary lung cancer patients who underwent cryoablation of lung argon helium knife in our hospital from January 2012 to March 2018.PLR and NLR were calculated based on the blood routine data of the patients within 1 week before the operation.value.The patients were followed up.The deadline for follow-up was June 2021.The survival curve(ROC curve)was drawn according to the patient's survival prognosis,and the Youden index was calculated to determine the optimal cutoff value of PLR and NLR,and grouped based on this analysis.The correlation between pre-PLR level and NLR level with clinicopathological characteristics and prognostic survival time of patients with primary lung cancer.Results:The best cut-off point was calculated according to the ROC curve and divided into high PLR group(PLR≥155.72,n=127)and low PLR group(<155.72,n=87);high NLR group(≥2.91,n=120)and Low NLR group(<2.91,n=94);preoperative high PLR,high NLR group pT,pN,pM and TNM staging compared with low value group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);Cox multivariate Analysis shows that high PLR,high NLR,high pT staging,high pM staging,and high TNM staging are independent risk factors affecting postoperative survival;the postoperative survival rate of the high-level PLRNLR group was significantly lower than that of the other groups,and the difference was statistically significant.significance.Conclusion:The significant increase of NLR and PLT before operation in patients with primary lung cancer is associated with poor prognosis;the combination of the two has potential clinical application value in assessing the survival of patients after surgery.

The frequency of human suffering from cancer is increasing annually across the globe.This has fueled numerous investigations aimed at the prevention and cure of various cancers.Long non-coding RNA(lncRNA)are known to play a crucial role in cancer.For instance,cancer susceptibility candidate 11(CASC11),as one of the long non-coding RNAs,has been reported to be overexpressed in various tumors.This review elucidates the mechanism by which lncRNA CASC11 regulates tumors'biological processes and affirms its value as a therapeutic target for tumors.Through systematic analysis and review of relevant articles in PubMed,we revealed the pathophysiological mechanism of CASC11 on the tumor by regulating the biological processes of tumor such as proliferation,autophagy,apoptosis,thereby promoting tumor metastasis.We also revealed the regulatory pathways of CASC11 in different tumors,for instance by acting on a variety of microRNAs,oncogenic proteins,carcinogens,and transcription factors.Consequently,CASC11 regulates cancer proliferation,apoptosis,and invasion by altering the WNT/β-catenin signaling pathway and epithelial–mesenchymal transition(EMT).Furthermore,CASC11 expression has a high pertinence with clinical prognosis,suggesting that it is a potential marker for malignant tumors or a clinical adjuvant therapy in the future.

The blood-brain barrier(BBB)is an essential component in regulating and maintaining the homeostatic microenvironment of the central nervous system(CNS).During the occurrence and development of glioblastoma(GBM),BBB is pathologically destroyed with a marked increase in permeability.Due to the obstruction of the BBB,current strategies for GBM therapeutics still obtain a meager success rate and may lead to systemic toxicity.Moreover,chemotherapy could promote pathological BBB functional restoration,which results in signiﬁcantly reduced intracerebral transport of therapeutic agents during multiple administrations of GBM and the eventual failure of GBM chemotherapy.The effective delivery of intracerebral drugs still faces severe challenges.However,strategies that regulate the pathological BBB to enhance the transport of therapeutic agents across the barrier may provide new opportunities for the effective and safe treatment of GBM.This article reviews the structure and function of BBB in physiological states,the mechanisms underlying BBB pathological fenestration during the development of GBM,and the therapeutic strategies of GBM based on BBB intervention and medicinal drugs transporting across the BBB.

Numerical Study on Aerodynamic Performance of Floating Dual-Rotor Wind Turbines in Heave and Surge Motions

Compared with the traditional wind turbine of a single rotor,dual-rotor wind turbines(DRWTs)have higher wind energy capture efficiency and a more complex structure.Therefore,the aerodynamic performance of the DRWT installed on the floating platform will be greatly affected by the motion caused by wind and wave loads.In this paper,5 MW and 750 kW single rotor wind turbines(SRWTs)are combined into a 5 MW-5 MW DRWT and a 5 MW-750 kW DRWT,and their power output and wake field characteristics in different motions are studied.The flow field is obtained by solving the Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes equation(RANS).The overset grid technique is employed to achieve the large-amplitude multiple-degree-of-freedom motion of the DRWT.The overall performance of the 5 MW single rotor wind turbine is determined by a numerical method.For the DRWTs,numerical results show that the surge motion and heave motion both have a negative effect on the power output of the DRWT.The surge motion is a critical factor that causes the power output of the DRWT to periodically change with motion.The average power output of the DRWT influenced by motion is lower than that of a DRWT with a fixed bottom.The surge motion significantly disturbs the wake of the DRWT due to the mutual interference between the upstream and downstream rotors.Under the influence of heave motion,low-velocity regions downstream of the blade tip are enhanced.This study indicates that attenuating the surge and heave motion of offshore DRWT is very significant for improving its efficiency and should be taken into consideration during the design procedure.

Is it necessary to use the entire root as a donor when transferring contralateral C7 nerve to repair median nerve？

If a partial contralateral C7 nerve is transferred to a recipient injured nerve, results are not satisfactory. However, if an entire contralateral C7 nerve is used to repair two nerves, both recipient nerves show good recovery. These findings seem contradictory, as the above two methods use the same donor nerve, only the cutting method of the contralateral C7 nerve is different. To verify whether this can actually result in different repair effects, we divided rats with right total brachial plexus injury into three groups. In the entire root group, the entire contralateral C7 root was transected and transferred to the median nerve of the affected limb. In the posterior division group, only the posterior division of the contralateral C7 root was transected and transferred to the median nerve. In the entire root ＋ posterior division group, the entire contralateral C7 root was transected but only the posterior division was transferred to the median nerve. After neurectomy,the median nerve was repaired on the affected side in the three groups. At 8, 12, and 16 weeks postoperatively, electrophysiological examination showed that maximum amplitude, latency, muscle tetanic contraction force, and muscle fiber cross-sectional area of the flexor digitorum superficialis muscle were significantly better in the entire root and entire root ＋ posterior division groups than in the posterior division group. No significant difference was found between the entire root and entire root ＋ posterior division groups. Counts of myelinated axons in the median nerve were greater in the entire root group than in the entire root ＋ posterior division group, which were greater than the posterior division group. We conclude that for the same recipient nerve, harvesting of the entire contralateral C7 root achieved significantly better recovery than partial harvesting, even if only part of the entire root was used for transfer. This result indicates that the entire root should be used as a donor when transferring contralateral C7 nerve.
