Low-temperature(NO + O_(2)) adsorption performance of alkaline earth metal-doped C-FDU-15

To improve the removal capacity of NO + O_(2) effectively, the alkaline earth metal-doped order mesoporous carbon(A-C-FDU-15(0.001)(A = Mg, Ca, Sr and Ba)) and Mg-C-FDU-15( x)( x = 0.001-0.003) samples were prepared, and their physicochemical and NO + O_(2) adsorption properties were determined by means of various techniques. The results show that the sequence in(NO + O_(2)) adsorption performance was as follows: Mg-C-FDU-15(0.001)(93.2 mg/g) > Ca-C-FDU-15(0.001)(82.2 mg/g) > Sr-C-FDU-15(0.001)(76.1 mg/g) > Ba-C-FDU-15(0.001)(72.9 mg/g) > C-FDU-15(67.1 mg/g). Among all of the A-C-FDU-15(0.001) samples, Mg-C-FDU-15(0.001) possessed the highest(NO + O_(2)) adsorption capacity(106.2 mg/g). The species of alkaline earth metals and basic sites were important factors determining the adsorption of NO + O_(2) on the A-C-FDU-15( x) samples, and(NO + O_(2)) adsorption on the samples was mainly chemical adsorption. Combined with the results of(NO + O_(2))-temperatureprogrammed desorption((NO + O_(2))-TPD) and in situ diffused reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy(DRIFTS) characterization, we deduced that there were two main pathways of(NO + O_(2)) adsorption: one was first the conversion of NO and O_(2) to NO_(2) and then part of NO_(2) was converted to NO_(2)^(-) and NO_(3)^(-);and the other was the direct oxidation of NO to NO-2 and NO_(3)^(-).

Glutamine supplementation attenuates intestinal apoptosis by inducing heat shock protein 70 in heatstroke rats

BACKGROUND:Heatstroke is the most hazardous heat-related illness and has a high fatality rate.We investigated whether glutamine supplementation could have a protective effect on heatstroke rats.METHODS:Twenty-five 12-week-old male Wistar rats(weight 305±16 g)were randomly divided into a control group(n=5),heatstroke(HS)group(n=10),and heatstroke+glutamine(HSG)group(n=10).Seven days before heat exposure,glutamine(0.4 g/[kg·d])was administered to the rats in the HSG group by gavage every day.Three hours after heat exposure,serum samples were collected to detect white blood cells,coagulation indicators,blood biochemical indicators,and inflammatory cytokines in the rats.The small intestine tissue was stained to analyze pathological structural changes and apoptosis.Finally,immunohistochemistry and Western blotting were used to analyze the expression levels of heat shock protein 70(HSP70).Multiple comparisons were analyzed by using one-way analysis of variance,and the Bonferroni test was conducted for the post hoc comparisons.RESULTS:After heat exposure,the core temperature of the HS group(40.65±0.31°C)was higher than the criterion of heatstroke,whereas the core temperature of the HSG group(39.45±0.14°C)was lower than the criterion.Glutamine supplementation restored the increased white blood cells,coagulation indicators,blood biochemical indicators,and inflammatory cytokines that were induced by heatstroke to normal levels.The intestinal mucosa was injured,and the structure of tight junctions was damaged in the HS group;however,the structure of intestinal mucosal epithelial cells was stable in the HSG group.Glutamine supplementation alleviated intestinal apoptosis and up-regulated HSP70 expression.CONCLUSION:Glutamine supplementation may alleviate intestinal apoptosis by inducing the expression of HSP70 and have a protective effect on heatstroke rats.

Testing Regression Coefficients in High-Dimensional and Sparse Settings

In the high-dimensional setting,this article considers a canonical testing problem in multivariate analysis,namely testing coefficients in linear regression models.Several tests for highdimensional regression coefficients have been proposed in the recent literature.However,these tests are based on the sum of squares type statistics,that perform well under the dense alternatives and suffer from low power under the sparse alternatives.In order to attack this issue,we introduce a new test statistic which is based on the maximum type statistic and magnifies the sparse signals.The limiting null distribution of the test statistic is shown to be the extreme value distribution of type I and the power of the test is analysed.In particular,it is shown theoretically and numerically that the test is powerful against sparse alternatives.Numerical studies are carried out to examine the numerical performance of the test and to compare it with other tests available in the literature.

Silicon-carbide fiber-reinforced polymer electrolyte for all-solid-state lithium-metal batteries

Silicon carbide(SiC) with various morphologies was employed as reinforcing fillers for poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO)-based solid polymer electrolytes(SPEs).Specific ally,the SiC nanoparticles with an average size of 5-10 μm endow a significant enhancement of the interaction between carbon atoms for the fillers and the oxygen atoms from the PEO-lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide(LiTFSI) matrix,which provides rapid transport channels for mobile Li+and enhances the mechanical strength of SPEs.The SPEs reinforced with one-dimensional SiC nanoparticles exhibit superior Li^(+)conduction,good mechanical property,and uniform Li plating.Thus,a dendrite-free plating of lithium for 0.58 mAh at 0.1 mA·cm^(-2) and excellent cycle stability at various current densities for 250 h are achieved in Li/Li symmetric cells using SPEs electrolytes with 5.0 wt% SiC nanoparticles.Moreover,the LiFePO_(4)/Li full cells assembled using SPEs electrolytes with 5.0 wt% SiC nanoparticles provide a capacity of 151.5 mAh·g^(-1) at 0.1 mA·cm^(-2)(55℃),and maintained a Coulombic efficiency of 99% for 120 cycles.

Stability of Navier–Stokes System with Singular External Force in Fourier–Herz Space

We prove the asymptotic properties of the solutions to the 3D Navier–Stokes system with singular external force, by making use of Fourier localization method, the Littlewood–Paley theory and some subtle estimates in Fourier–Herz space. The main idea of the proof is motivated by that of Cannone et al. [J. Differential Equations, 314, 316–339(2022)]. We deal either with the nonstationary problem or with the stationary problem where solution may be singular due to singular external force. In this paper, the Fourier–Herz space includes the function space of pseudomeasure type used in Cannone et al. [J. Differential Equations, 314, 316–339(2022)]

Since the first report of diketopyrrolopyrrole(DPP)-based conjugated polymers for organic thin-film transistors(OTFTs),these polymers have attracted great attention as representative semiconductors in high-performance OTFTs.Through unremitting efforts in molecular-structure regulation and device optimization,significant mobilities exceeding 10 cm2·V–1·s–1 have been achieved in OTFTs,greatly promoting the applied development of organic circuits.In this review,we summarize our progress in molecular design,synthesis and solution-processing of DPP-based conjugated polymers for OTFT devices and circuits,focusing on the roles of design strategies,synthesis methods and processing techniques.Furthermore,the remaining issues and future outlook in the field are briefly discussed.

Biomanufacturing(BM)is a multidisciplinary area incorporating the characteristics of living organisms and engineering principles to create valuable products for various sectors,including medicine,energy,and the environment.BM has undergone a remarkable transformation in the last two decades,entering the era of BM4.0 and becoming a pivotal driver of the sustainable revolution.Notably,Japan has made significant advances in BM,contributing to its development through the creation of innovative materials,advanced processes,and interdisciplinary applications.However,because of certain development policies,this research has not been widely recognized on an international level.This paper provides a comprehensive summary of the research progress made by renowned Japanese laboratories and researchers in biomedical materials,bio-three-dimensional(3D)printing,and biomedical applications in the last five years.Their unique contributions are introduced and analyzed,illuminating the distinctive approaches and breakthroughs within each domain.Additionally,this review highlights the current challenges and prospects of BM.The viewpoints presented in this paper are intended to serve as a valuable reference for scholars studying BM in Japan.

Carbon dioxide adsorption behaviors of aluminum-pillared montmorillonite-supported alkaline earth metals

The Al-pillared montmorillonite-supported alkaline earth metal 5M/Al-PILC(PILC = pillared clay, M = Mg, Ca, Sr, and Ba) and x Mg/Al-PILC( x = 1, 3, 5, and 7 wt.%) samples were prepared using an impregnation method. Physical properties of the materials were determined by means of X-ray diffraction(XRD) and N2 adsorption-desorption, and their CO2 adsorption behaviors were investigated using the thermogravimetric analyzer(TG), CO2 temperatureprogrammed desorption(CO2-TPD), and in situ diffuse reflectance infrared transform spectroscopy(in situ-DRIFTS) techniques. It is shown that 5 Mg/Al-PILC possessed the highest CO2 adsorption capacity(2.559 mmol/g). The characterization results indicate that Alpillaring increased the specific surface area of montmorillonite, which was beneficial for the adsorption of CO2. The CO2 adsorption process on the sample was mainly chemical adsorption, and alkalinity was the main factor influencing its adsorption capacity. The alkalinity of the sample was enhanced by loading an appropriate amount of alkaline earth metal, and the adsorbed CO2 was present in the form of bicarbonate and carbonate. In addition, the 5Mg/Al-PILC sample exhibited an excellent regeneration efficiency. We believe that the outcome of this research would provide a good option for developing highly effective CO2 adsorption materials.

Effect of quaternary basicity on softening-melting behavior of primary slag based on magnesium flux pellet

It is generally accepted that the softening-melting properties of ferrous burden play a vital role in optimizing the shape and position of cohesive zone.The effect of quaternary basicity and atmosphere on softening,melting and permeation temperatures of primary slag based on magnesium flux pellet was investigated by visualization method.The mechanisms were analyzed utilizing thermodynamic calculation,X-ray diffraction analysis and electron probe microanalysis.The results indicated that the softening and melting temperatures of oxide samples increased by approximately 120℃with increasing quaternary basicity from 0.3 to 1.2 owing to the formation of slag phases with high melting point and solid Fe.Meanwhile,the difference between softening and melting temperatures decreased from 21 to 11℃.The permeation temperature was not affected by the quaternary basicity and fluctuated around a level of 1250 C,given that the permeation temperature depends on the wettability between slag and coke bed.On the other hand,as the ratios of CO/CO_(2) varied from 3/7 to 7/3,there were no significant differences in either the softening or melting temperatures,whereas the permeation temperature was increased from 1239 to 1271℃ since the reduction of FeO-bearing phases to solid Fe could decrease the wettability between slag and coke bed.

Developing laterite nickel ore leaching residue as sustainable blast furnace charge

A kind of leaching residue generated during high pressure acid leaching of laterite nickel ore is creatively prepared as blast furnace charge for ironmaking.Results show that the briquettes with uniform shape,compressive strength higher than 72.3 N/pellet,and cracking temperature over 400℃can be obtained by the non-binder briquetting with water content of 12.2 wt.%and pressure of 30 MPa.After preheating at 975℃for 12 min and roasting at 1225℃for 15 min,the strength of the roasted briquettes can reach 2815 N/pellet,and the iron grade is 59.27 wt.%.And the sulfur content can be simultaneously reduced to 0.067 wt.%.The obtained briquettes achieve adequate reducibility index,reduction degradation index,reduction swelling index,softening and melting temperatures,which are suitable for blast furnace ironmaking.The results show that this method cannot only effectively treat the leaching residue to reduce the risk of environmental pollution,but also realize the utilization of leaching residue.
