Numerical investigation of the effects of soil-structure and granular material-structure interaction on the seismic response of a flat-bottom reinforced concrete silo

In this work,a numerical study of the effects of soil-structure interaction(SSI)and granular material-structure interaction(GSI)on the nonlinear response and seismic capacity of flat-bottomed storage silos is conducted.A series of incremental dynamic analyses(IDA)are performed on a case of large reinforced concrete silo using 10 seismic *** IDA results are given by two average IDA capacity curves,which are represented,as well as the seismic capacity of the studied structure,with and without a consideration of the SSI while accounting for the effect of *** curves are used to quantify and evaluate the damage of the studied silo by utilizing two damage indices,one based on dissipated energy and the other on displacement and dissipated *** cumulative energy dissipation curves obtained by the average IDA capacity curves with and without SSI are presented as a function of the base shear,and these curves allow one to obtain the two critical points and the different limit states of the *** is observed that the SSI and GSI significantly influence the seismic response and capacity of the studied structure,particularly at higher levels of ***,the effect of the SSI reduces the damage index of the studied structure by 4%.

Evidence for the polyphyly of Encoelia and Encoelioideae with reconsideration of respective families in Leotiomycetes

A Hybrid Learning Algorithm for Breast Cancer Diagnosis

In many fields, particularly that of health, the diagnosis of diseases is a very difficult task to carry out. Therefore, early detection of diseases using artificial intelligence tools can be of paramount importance in the medical field. In this study, we proposed an intelligent system capable of performing diagnoses for radiologists. The support system is designed to evaluate mammographic images, thereby classifying normal and abnormal patients. The proposed method (DiagBC for Breast Cancer Diagnosis) combines two (2) intelligent unsupervised learning algorithms (the C-Means clustering algorithm and the Gaussian Mixture Model) for the segmentation of medical images and an algorithm for supervised learning (a modified DenseNet) for the diagnosis of breast images. Ultimately, a prototype of the proposed system was implemented for the Magori polyclinic in Niamey (Niger) making it possible to diagnose (or classify) breast cancer into two (2) classes: the normal class and the abnormal class.

从2010年起,在江苏省丰县毛木耳Auriculariacornea产区观察到蛛网病症状,该病害的发生呈逐年上升趋势,对毛木耳产量和产业造成了严重的损失。经过2015–2016年两年的调查研究,分析毛木耳蛛网病的发病规律。致病菌分别与毛木耳菌丝体和子实体的互作研究表明,该病原真菌仅危害毛木耳子实体,使毛木耳子实体的子实层出现裂缝,进而引起子实体畸形甚至停止生长。该病原本被鉴定为Cladobotryum cubitense。经37℃高温处理7d可抑制其菌丝的生长,50%咪鲜胺锰盐也能够抑制C. cubitense菌丝的生长,为减轻或控制毛木耳蛛网病的发生和传播提供了可行性策略。

Background:Generally,advanced wound care resources are applied for complex wounds that pose a challenge to the medical and nursing *** this report,the use of leukocyte-and platelet-rich fibrin(L-pRF)is emphasized for complex wounds as an alternative,simple,inexpensive,time-saving process that does not require hospitalization and has a healing potential over that of bare soft tissue,including bone,tendon,and *** aim of this study is to extend the use of L-pRF in small-to-moderate-sized complex wounds of lower extremities in which L-pRF maintains the sensitive structures ***:Between January 2016 and December 2017,17 small-to-moderate-sized complex wounds of lower extremities treated with L-pRF were recruited from the plastic and reconstructive surgery clinic in Aydin State Hospital,*** treatment was administered twice per week in the outpatient *** on the size and extension of the complex wound,two to five blood samples were collected into 8.5 ml dry,glass vacuum tubes with no anticoagulant,and samples were immediately centrifuged at 1630×g for 5 min to obtain *** healing was defined as the day of complete wound ***:The median values of the initial wound size and wound duration were 12 cm^(2)(interquartile range,6 to 23 cm^(2))and 8 months before first admission(interquartile range,4 to 18 months),*** wounds showed significant improvements after L-pRF therapy and full closure after a median of 18months,with an interquartile range of 11 to 34 months of L-pRF *** were recurrences of wounds during the first 6 months after *** adverse events were ***:Our results add to the growing evidence that L-pRF treatments protect and maintain bare soft tissue structures viable,facilitate the formation of granulation tissue and epithelization,and remarkably reduce the need for additional soft tissue surgeries in small-to-medium-sized complex wounds.

Improving symbolic data visualization for pattern recognition and knowledge discovery

This paper examines the visualization of symbolic data and considers the challenges rising from its complex *** data is usually aggregated from large data sets and used to hide entry specific details and to transform huge amounts of data(like big data)into analyzable *** is also used to offer an overview in places where general trends are more important than individual *** data comes in many forms like intervals,histograms,categories and modal multi-valued *** data can also be considered as a ***,the de facto visualization approach for symbolic data is zoomstars which has many *** biggest limitation is that the default distributions(histograms)are not supported in 2D as additional dimension is *** paper proposes several new improvements for zoomstars which would enable it to visualize histograms in 2D by using a quantile or an equivalent interval *** addition,several improvements for categorical and modal variables are proposed for a clearer indication of presented *** for different approaches to zoomstars are offered depending on the data type and the desired ***,an alternative approach that allows visualizing the whole data set in comprehensive table-like graph,called shape encoding,is *** visualizations and their usefulness are verified with three symbolic data sets in exploratory data mining phase to identify trends,similar objects and important features,detecting outliers and discrepancies in the data.

Effect of titanium based complex catalyst and carbon nanotubes on hydrogen storage performance of magnesium

Mg （MgH2）-based composites, using carbon nanotubes （CNTs） and pre-synthesized titanium based complex （TCat） as the cat- alysts, were prepared by high energy ball milling technique. The use of both catalysts demonstrated markedly improved the hydrogen storage performance, e.g. a significant increase of hydrogen release rate and decrease of desorption temperature. The synthesized composites can absorb almost 6 wt% of hydrogen within 3 min at 200 ~C and desorb 6 wt% hydrogen in 10 min at 310 ~C. The influence of CNTs and TCat on desorption temperature was also investigated by using temperature programmed desorption （TpD）. The TpD results reveal that the peak desorption temperature and the onset temperature can be lowered by 109 ~C and 155 ~C, respectively, compared to the non-catalyzed MgH2. The reaction enthalpy and entropy of hydrogen de- sorption for the synthesized MgH2-based composites are calculated by the van＇t Hoff analysis to be 73.1 kJ/mol H2 and 130.2 J/mol H2 K, respectively.

Investigation of SpECT/CT cardiac imaging using Geant4
