Evidence for the polyphyly of Encoelia and Encoelioideae with reconsideration of respective families in Leotiomycetes

This study focuses on the genus Encoelia and the subfamily Encoelioideae in the morphologically and ecologically diverse Helotiales.The 28S and 18S rDNA as well as tef1,rpb1 and rpb2 were sequenced for 70 species.phylogenetic analyses revealed Encoelia and Encoelioideae to be highly polyphyletic,with species distributed among eight major lineages.Encoelia fascicularis and E.pruinosa belonged to Sclerotiniaceae and were combined in a new genus,Sclerencoelia.Rutstroemiaceae comprised E.tiliacea and Dencoeliopsis johnstonii,both accepted in Rutstroemia.The type of Encoelia,E.furfuracea,was closely related to species of Velutarina,Cenangiopsis and Crumenulopsis.These species together with members of Hemiphacidiaceae formed a clade conforming to the emended concept of Cenangiaceae,introduced here.Another resurrected family,Cordieritidaceae,comprised E.fimbriata,E.heteromera and species of Ameghiniella,Cordierites,Diplocarpa and Ionomidotis,characterised by inamyloid asci and a positive ionomidotic reaction.Encoelia glauca showed closest affinities with Chlorociboria species in Chlorociboriaceae.A new genus,Xeropilidium,with sporodochial and pycnidial synanamorphs,was described for the distinct encoelioid member of the Chaetomellaceae,previously known as E.fuckelii.Morphological and ecological synapomorphies were distinguished from convergent characters to delimit monophyletic taxa including encoelioid fungi.Incorporation of public sequences from various biological samples in ITS rDNA analyses allowed identification of sequenced organisms at species,genus,or family level and added information on the ecology of seversal taxa.Members of Cenangiaceae appeared to be widespread as endophytes.Inclusion of encoelioid genera in Chaetomellaceae and Sclerotiniaceae added xylicolous saprotrophs to these families.

Combined CNN-LSTM Deep Learning Algorithms for Recognizing Human physical Activities in Large and Distributed Manners:A Recommendation System

Recognizing human activity(HAR)from data in a smartphone sensor plays an important role in the field of health to prevent chronic diseases.Daily and weekly physical activities are recorded on the smartphone and tell the user whether he is moving well or not.Typically,smartphones and their associated sensing devices operate in distributed and unstable environments.Therefore,collecting their data and extracting useful information is a significant challenge.In this context,the aimof this paper is twofold:The first is to analyze human behavior based on the recognition of physical activities.Using the results of physical activity detection and classification,the second part aims to develop a health recommendation system to notify smartphone users about their healthy physical behavior related to their physical activities.This system is based on the calculation of calories burned by each user during physical activities.In this way,conclusions can be drawn about a person’s physical behavior by estimating the number of calories burned after evaluating data collected daily or even weekly following a series of physical workouts.To identify and classify human behavior our methodology is based on artificial intelligence models specifically deep learning techniques like Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM),stacked LSTM,and bidirectional LSTM.Since human activity data contains both spatial and temporal information,we proposed,in this paper,to use of an architecture allowing the extraction of the two types of information simultaneously.While Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN)has an architecture designed for spatial information,our idea is to combine CNN with LSTM to increase classification accuracy by taking into consideration the extraction of both spatial and temporal data.The results obtained achieved an accuracy of 96%.On the other side,the data learned by these algorithms is prone to error and uncertainty.To overcome this constraint and improve performance(96%),we proposed to use the fusion mechanisms.The last combines deep learnin

Numerical investigation of the effects of soil-structure and granular material-structure interaction on the seismic response of a flat-bottom reinforced concrete silo

In this work,a numerical study of the effects of soil-structure interaction(SSI)and granular material-structure interaction(GSI)on the nonlinear response and seismic capacity of flat-bottomed storage silos is conducted.A series of incremental dynamic analyses(IDA)are performed on a case of large reinforced concrete silo using 10 seismic recordings.The IDA results are given by two average IDA capacity curves,which are represented,as well as the seismic capacity of the studied structure,with and without a consideration of the SSI while accounting for the effect of GSI.These curves are used to quantify and evaluate the damage of the studied silo by utilizing two damage indices,one based on dissipated energy and the other on displacement and dissipated energy.The cumulative energy dissipation curves obtained by the average IDA capacity curves with and without SSI are presented as a function of the base shear,and these curves allow one to obtain the two critical points and the different limit states of the structure.It is observed that the SSI and GSI significantly influence the seismic response and capacity of the studied structure,particularly at higher levels of pGA.Moreover,the effect of the SSI reduces the damage index of the studied structure by 4%.

The cryptic lifestyle of most fungi necessitates molecular identification of the guild in environmental studies.Over the past decades,rapid development and affordability of molecular tools have tremendously improved insights of the fungal diversity in all ecosystems and habitats.Yet,in spite of the progress of molecular methods,knowledge about functional properties of the fungal taxa is vague and interpretation of environmental studies in an ecologically meaningful manner remains challenging.In order to facilitate functional assignments and ecological interpretation of environmental studies we introduce a user friendly traits and character database FungalTraits operating at genus and species hypothesis levels.Combining the information from previous efforts such as FUNGuild and FunFun together with involvement of expert knowledge,we reannotated 10,210 and 151 fungal and Stramenopila genera,respectively.This resulted in a stand-alone spreadsheet dataset covering 17 lifestyle related traits of fungal and Stramenopila genera,designed for rapid functional assignments of environmental stud-ies.In order to assign the trait states to fungal species hypotheses,the scientific community of experts manually categorised and assigned available trait information to 697,413 fungal ITS sequences.On the basis of those sequences we were able to summarise trait and host information into 92,623 fungal species hypotheses at 1%dissimilarity threshold.

Graft versus host disease(GvHD)is the clinical condition in which bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells(MsCs)have been most frequently studied.In this review,we summarize the experience from clinical trials that have paved the way to translation.While MsC-based therapy has shown an exceptional safety profile,identifying potency assays and disease biomarkers that reliably predict the capacity of a specific MSC batch to alleviate GvHD has been difficult.As GvHD diagnosis and staging are based solely on clinical criteria,individual patients recruited in the same clinical trial may have vastly different underlying biology,obscuring trial outcomes and making it difficult to determine the benefit of MsCs in subgroups of patients.An accumulating body of evidence indicates the importance of considering not only the cell product but also patient-specific biomarkers and/or immune characteristics in determining MSC responsiveness.A mode of action where intravascular MSC destruction is followed by monocyte-efferocytosis-mediated skewing of the immune repertoire in a permissive inflammatory environment would both explain why cell engraftment is irrelevant for MsC efficacy and stress the importance of biologic differences between responding and nonresponding patients.We recommend a combined analysis of clinical outcomes and both biomarkers of disease activity and MSC potency assays to identify patients with GvHD who are likely to benefit from MSC therapy.

A study is presented on the feasibility of an approach based on the combination of phase Change Materials(pCM)with metal walls in container-type houses.This line of research finds its motivations in recent trends in the energy and building sectors about energy consumption reduction.Another important objective concerns possible improvements in the comfort provided by such houses during the summer period.The results obtained through numerical solution of the governing equations accounting for heat transfer and latent heat effects associated with the pCM show that the indoor temperature can be reduced with a varying degree of success depending on the considered conditions.

Early Clinical Improvement of the Axial pain after Sagittal Curve Restoration in patients Who Underwent a Multiple Level Microdiscectomy with Fusion of the Cervical Spine Using Zero profile Cages

A common pathology that causes axial and/or radicular pain is cervical degenerative spine. It has the potential to cause myelopathy. The majority of cases necessitate surgical decompression and sagittal balance correction;surgery may be performed at multiple levels of the cervical spine. Typically, during decompression, the degenerated discs are replaced and the spine is fused, and it has been recommended to restore the lordotic curve during the procedure to avoid any axial pain post-operatively. We followed our patients who had multiple level cervical spine decompression with fusion and monitored their axial pain after correction or in the absence of correction of the normal lordosis in the early post-operative period. When various levels of degenerative cervical spine are treated, it appears that axial pain does not improve in the immediate or early postoperative term.

Leucocyte-and platelet-rich fibrin as a rescue therapy for small-to-medium-sized complex wounds of the lower extremities

Background:Generally,advanced wound care resources are applied for complex wounds that pose a challenge to the medical and nursing teams.In this report,the use of leukocyte-and platelet-rich fibrin(L-pRF)is emphasized for complex wounds as an alternative,simple,inexpensive,time-saving process that does not require hospitalization and has a healing potential over that of bare soft tissue,including bone,tendon,and ligaments.The aim of this study is to extend the use of L-pRF in small-to-moderate-sized complex wounds of lower extremities in which L-pRF maintains the sensitive structures viable.Methods:Between January 2016 and December 2017,17 small-to-moderate-sized complex wounds of lower extremities treated with L-pRF were recruited from the plastic and reconstructive surgery clinic in Aydin State Hospital,Turkey.The treatment was administered twice per week in the outpatient clinic.Depending on the size and extension of the complex wound,two to five blood samples were collected into 8.5 ml dry,glass vacuum tubes with no anticoagulant,and samples were immediately centrifuged at 1630×g for 5 min to obtain L-pRF.Complete healing was defined as the day of complete wound epithelialization.Results:The median values of the initial wound size and wound duration were 12 cm^(2)(interquartile range,6 to 23 cm^(2))and 8 months before first admission(interquartile range,4 to 18 months),respectively.All wounds showed significant improvements after L-pRF therapy and full closure after a median of 18months,with an interquartile range of 11 to 34 months of L-pRF applications.There were recurrences of wounds during the first 6 months after therapy.No adverse events were observed.Conclusions:Our results add to the growing evidence that L-pRF treatments protect and maintain bare soft tissue structures viable,facilitate the formation of granulation tissue and epithelization,and remarkably reduce the need for additional soft tissue surgeries in small-to-medium-sized complex wounds.

The New Mixed Generalized Erlang Distribution

In probability theory, the mixture distribution M has a density function for the collection of random variables and weighted by wi ≥ 0 and . These mixed distributions are used in various disciplines and aim to enrich the collection distribution to more parameters. A more general mixture is derived by kadri and Halat, by proving the existence of such mixture by wi ∈ R, and maintaining . kadri and Halat provided many examples and applications for such new mixed distributions. In this paper, we introduce a new mixed distribution of the Generalized Erlang distribution, which is derived from the Hypoexponential distribution. We characterize this new distribution by deriving simply closed expressions for the related functions of the probability density function, cumulative distribution function, moment generating function, reliability function, hazard function, and moments.

Should a Vp or Lp Shunt be Used for the Treatment of pseudotumorcerebri in Adults?

Introduction: pseudotumorcerebri(pTC) is a condition characterized by false brain tumor symptoms, caused by high intracranial pressure (ICp). Treatment options include medication, weight loss, surgery, and shunting. Shunting, either ventriculoperitoneal (Vp) or lumboperitoneal (Lp), emerged as the preferred method of treatment, but there is an ongoing debate as to which technique should be prioritized. The aim of this study is to gather additional evidence to determine the optimal type of shunt for treating pTC. Materials and Methods: Ninety patients with pTC were studied at Damascus University between 2016 and 2021. The study monitored symptoms before and after treatment, with improvement related to the technique used (Vp or Lp shunts). Of all patients, 83 were women and 7 were men. In addition, complications were analyzed. Results: Both shunts showed similar postoperative rates of symptom improvement, but Vp shunts were utilized more frequently overall in this study. patients who received Lp shunt surgery had a higher rate of postoperative complications compared to those who received Vp shunt surgery, but the chi-squared analysis did not provide sufficient evidence to confirm a significant relationship between the type of surgery and the occurrence of postoperative complications. Conclusion: Despite ongoing controversy about the optimal treatment for benign intracranial hypertension (BTC), most authors approved the trend of using Vp (ventriculoperitoneal) shunts, given a lower rate of complications. However, there is no statistically significant difference between outcomes of Vp and Lp (lumboperitoneal) shunting techniques, according to our research.
