Background:Generally,advanced wound care resources are applied for complex wounds that pose a challenge to the medical and nursing *** this report,the use of leukocyte-and platelet-rich fibrin(L-PRF)is emphasized for complex wounds as an alternative,simple,inexpensive,time-saving process that does not require hospitalization and has a healing potential over that of bare soft tissue,including bone,tendon,and *** aim of this study is to extend the use of L-PRF in small-to-moderate-sized complex wounds of lower extremities in which L-PRF maintains the sensitive structures ***:Between January 2016 and December 2017,17 small-to-moderate-sized complex wounds of lower extremities treated with L-PRF were recruited from the plastic and reconstructive surgery clinic in Aydin State Hospital,*** treatment was administered twice per week in the outpatient *** on the size and extension of the complex wound,two to five blood samples were collected into 8.5 ml dry,glass vacuum tubes with no anticoagulant,and samples were immediately centrifuged at 1630×g for 5 min to obtain *** healing was defined as the day of complete wound ***:The median values of the initial wound size and wound duration were 12 cm^(2)(interquartile range,6 to 23 cm^(2))and 8 months before first admission(interquartile range,4 to 18 months),*** wounds showed significant improvements after L-PRF therapy and full closure after a median of 18months,with an interquartile range of 11 to 34 months of L-PRF *** were recurrences of wounds during the first 6 months after *** adverse events were ***:Our results add to the growing evidence that L-PRF treatments protect and maintain bare soft tissue structures viable,facilitate the formation of granulation tissue and epithelization,and remarkably reduce the need for additional soft tissue surgeries in small-to-medium-sized complex wounds.

Evidence for the polyphyly of Encoelia and Encoelioideae with reconsideration of respective families in Leotiomycetes

Computation and parameterization of normalized glandular dose using Geant4

The average absorbed dose in glandular tissue is the most appropriate parameter for the assessment of the radiation-induced risk during breast imaging. The aims of this work concern:(1) the investigation of the variation effect of any related update to photon cross-section data-bases on the computation of the normalized glandular dose(Dg N) for mammography quality control tests and(2) the proposition of a parameterization method leading to provide Dg N values function of the breast thickness(T) and the particle energy(E) instead of E alone, as normally known. We analyzed the change effect of the photon cross-section data-bases on the computation of Dg N. Those coefficients, generated using the Geant4 Monte Carlo toolkit, were studied over a range of compressed breast thickness of 2–8 cm for monoenergetic(1–120 ke V by 1 ke V intervals) and polyenergetic(23–35 k Vp by 2 k Vp intervals) X-ray beams. Moreover, breast tissue composition ranging from about0% glandular(about 100% adipose) to 100% glandular(0% adipose) was also covered. The successful parameterization of Dg N look-up table function of the breast thickness and energy, will compact its analytical form without loss of accuracy. All parameterization fits resulted in r2 values of 0.999 or better.

Improving symbolic data visualization for pattern recognition and knowledge discovery

This paper examines the visualization of symbolic data and considers the challenges rising from its complex *** data is usually aggregated from large data sets and used to hide entry specific details and to transform huge amounts of data(like big data)into analyzable *** is also used to offer an overview in places where general trends are more important than individual *** data comes in many forms like intervals,histograms,categories and modal multi-valued *** data can also be considered as a ***,the de facto visualization approach for symbolic data is zoomstars which has many *** biggest limitation is that the default distributions(histograms)are not supported in 2D as additional dimension is *** paper proposes several new improvements for zoomstars which would enable it to visualize histograms in 2D by using a quantile or an equivalent interval *** addition,several improvements for categorical and modal variables are proposed for a clearer indication of presented *** for different approaches to zoomstars are offered depending on the data type and the desired ***,an alternative approach that allows visualizing the whole data set in comprehensive table-like graph,called shape encoding,is *** visualizations and their usefulness are verified with three symbolic data sets in exploratory data mining phase to identify trends,similar objects and important features,detecting outliers and discrepancies in the data.

Effect of titanium based complex catalyst and carbon nanotubes on hydrogen storage performance of magnesium

Mg (MgH2 )-based composites, using carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and pre-synthesized titanium based complex (TCat) as the catalysts, were prepared by high energy ball milling technique. The use of both catalysts demonstrated markedly improved the hydrogen storage performance, e.g. a significant increase of hydrogen release rate and decrease of desorption temperature. The synthesized composites can absorb almost 6 wt% of hydrogen within 3 min at 200 ℃ and desorb 6 wt% hydrogen in 10 min at 310 ℃. The influence of CNTs and TCat on desorption temperature was also investigated by using temperature programmed desorption (TPD). The TPD results reveal that the peak desorption temperature and the onset temperature can be lowered by 109 ℃ and 155 ℃, respectively, compared to the non-catalyzed MgH2 . The reaction enthalpy and entropy of hydrogen desorption for the synthesized MgH2 -based composites are calculated by the van't Hoff analysis to be 73.1 kJ/mol H2 and 130.2 J/mol H2K, respectively.

Investigation of SPECT/CT cardiac imaging using Geant4

Does crossover innervation really affect the clinical outcome？ A comparison of outcome between unilateral and bilateral digital nerve repair

Digital nerve injuries are the mostly detected nerve injury in the upper extremity. However, since the clinical phenomenon of crossover innervation at some degree from uninjured digital nerve to the in- jured side occurs after digital nerve injuries is sustained, one could argue that this concept might even result in the overestimation of the outcome of the digital nerve repair. With this knowledge in mind, this study aimed to present novel, pure, focused and valuable clinical data by comparing the outcomes of bilateral and unilateral digital nerve repair. A retrospective review of 28 fingers with unilateral or bilateral digital nerve repair using end-to-end technique in 19 patients within 2 years was performed. Weber＇s two-point discrimination, sharp/dull discrimination, warm/cold sensation and Visual Analog Scale scoring were measured at final 12-month follow ups in all patients. There was no significant difference in recovery of sensibility after unilateral and bilateral digital nerve repairs. Though there is crossover innervation microscopically, it is not important in the clinical evaluation period. According to clinical findings from this study, crossover innervations appear to be negligible in the estimation of outcomes of digital neurorrhaphy.

Characteristics of sildenafil erections in healthy young men

Aim： To determine the effect of sildenafil citrate on the nocturnal penile erections （i.e. time to onset, the duration of erection, and the interval between first and second erections） of healthy young men. Methods： Twenty-two potent men, 23-29 years old, were recruited for the study. All subjects completed three sessions over consecutive nights using the RigiScan monitoring device （Dacomed, Minneapolis, USA）. After a first night of adaptation, night 2 records were their baseline values, and on night 3 they received 100 mg of sildenafil citrate. Statistical comparisons were done between the second and third night data. Results： The mean time to onset of the first erection with sildenafil citrate was （34 ± 18） min, whereas it was （74 ± 24） min （P 〈 0.001） without sildenafil citrate. The number of erections observed during the first 5 h after sildenafil citrate medication was 3.6 ± 0.5 in contrast to 2.4 ± 0.5 with no medica- tion （P = 0.001）. The interval between first and second erections was shorter with sildenafil citrate：（52 ± 26） min vs. （85 ± 34） min （P = 0.01）. The duration of the last erection was statistically significantly longer with the sildenafil citrate：（64 ± 33） min vs. （42 ± 28） min （P 〈 0.01）. Conclusion： Healthy young men achieved erection within 34 min after sildenafil citrate administration, which is shorter than the 1 h interval proposed by the manufacturer. The interval between the first and second erections was shorter and the duration of the last nocturnal erection was longer.

To The Editor,I want to congratulate Jin and colleagues for their article entitled “ABO blood group is a predictor of survival in patients with laryngeal cancer” recently reported in Chinese Journal of Cancer, in which they assessed whether the ABO blood group was associated with prognosis in patients with laryngeal cancer [1]. They reported that compared with the patients with blood group non-O,patients with blood group O had significantly shorter ***, there is no satisfactory explanation why laryngeal cancer patients with blood group O had shorter *** group antigens are expressed on the surface of red blood cells and numerous other tissues throughout the body, including different types of cancer cells as well [2].These A or B antigens located on laryngeal cancer cell surface may be recognized from the immune system as antigenic foci. Hence, laryngeal cancer cells carrying A or B or both antigens could be destroyed by the immune system. On the other hand, laryngeal cancer cells harboring neither A nor B antigens, so-called type O cancer cells may not be recognized by immune cells and therefore may escape from immune destruction.
