Latest Carboniferous-Early Permian Rifting of the Northern Gondwanan Margin and the Opening of the Northern Neotethys: New Evidence from the Carboniferous and Permian Foraminiferal Assemblages from the Beyşehir-Hoyran Nappes, Central Taurides(Southern Turkey)

The Beyşehir-Hoyran Nappes,one of the tectonostratigraphic units of the Taurides,are thought to be originated from the Izmir-Ankara Ocean(northern branch of Neotethys).In this study,Late Paleozoic rock units from the blocks of Beyşehir-Hoyran Nappes were studied in detail using foraminiferal assemblages in two different locations from the southwest of Karaman City(southern Turkey).In both places,blocks/slices and pebbles of various origins are embedded within a highly sheared matrix of Late Cretaceous Age,and the whole unit can be regarded as a sedimentary mé*** ages of the blocks from the southwest of Karaman City range from the Late Serpukhovian(Late Mississippian)to Late Capitanian(Middle Permian)with some depositional breaks(e.g.,Bashkirian,Kasimovian).Combined with the previous data from the Mersin Mélange,which also include the remnants of the Beyşehir-Hoyran Nappes,our new findings suggest that a shallowing-upward sequence,characterized by a shallow water environment with foraminifera-bearing limestones,was deposited over the Tournaisian pelagic sequence in the Beyşehir-Hoyran Nappes till the Early Moscovian(Early Middle Pennsylvanian).This shallowing-upward sequence in the Beyşehir-Hoyran Nappes could be related to the Late Paleozoic Glaciation on the Gondwana supercontinent(Glacial Ⅱ),which resulted in a sea-level drop and deposition of platform carbonates during the Viséan–Early Moscovian(Middle Mississippian to Early Middle Pennsylvanian)time *** absence of the main part of the Middle-Upper Pennsylvanian deposits(continental phase during the Middle Moscovian–Middle Gzhelian)in the Beyşehir-Hoyran Nappes can be mainly attributed to the occurrence of a mantle plume and partially to the effect of Late Paleozoic Gondwanan Glaciation(Glacial Ⅲ).Progressive uplifting by the buoyant mantle plume material has resulted in rifting at the center of the basin where the Beyşehir-Hoyran Nappes have *** rifting process led to tectonic destabiliz

Prediction of the undrained shear strength of remolded soil with non-linear regression,fuzzy logic,and artificial neural network

This study aims to predict the undrained shear strength of remolded soil samples using non-linear regression analyses,fuzzy logic,and artificial neural network modeling.A total of 1306 undrained shear strength results from 230 different remolded soil test settings reported in 21 publications were collected,utilizing six different measurement *** water content,plastic limit,and liquid limit were used as input parameters for fuzzy logic and artificial neural network modeling,liquidity index or water content ratio was considered as an input parameter for non-linear regression *** non-linear regression analyses,12 different regression equations were derived for the prediction of undrained shear strength of remolded ***-Forward backpropagation and the TANSIG transfer function were used for artificial neural network modeling,while the Mamdani inference system was preferred with trapezoidal and triangular membership functions for fuzzy logic *** experimental results of 914 tests were used for training of the artificial neural network models,196 for validation and 196 for *** was observed that the accuracy of the artificial neural network and fuzzy logic modeling was higher than that of the non-linear regression ***,a simple and reliable regression equation was proposed for assessments of undrained shear strength values with higher coefficients of determination.

How has the COVID-19 pandemic changed treatment preferences of patients with proximal ureteral stones?

Background:The impact of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic on patient decision making remains *** study aimed to investigate the effect of the pandemic on treatment preferences of patients with proximal ureteral stones.Materials and methods:Retrospective data regarding treatment preferences of patients diagnosed with symptomatic proximal ure-teral stones between July 2018 and November 2021 at a single center were *** from 493 patients were analyzed according to 2 groups,including patients diagnosed during the COVID-19 pandemic and those diagnosed during an equivalent period of time be-fore the pandemic.Results:Preference for conservative treatment increased during the COVID-19 pandemic(p=0.009).In patients who had previously undergone shock wave lithotripsy(SWL),the preference for SWL decreased and the preference for conservative treatment increased during the COVID-19 pandemic(p=0.042).Multiple logistic regression analysis revealed a significant correlation between a preference for conservative treatment during the pandemic and no prior spontaneous stone passage(p=0.003;odds ratio[OR],2.48;95％con-fidence interval[CI],1.45-4.23),no hydronephrosis(p=0.035;OR,3.57;95％Cl,1.34-9.49),and a visual analog scale score of 4 or less(p=0.018;OR,1.97;95％Cl,1.15-3.38).Conclusions:A significant increase in the preference for conservative treatment was observed among patients diagnosed during the pandemic,and patients with a history of SWL demonstrated a preference shift from SWL to conservative treatment.

All-optical image denoising using a diffractive visual processor

Image denoising,one of the essential inverse problems,targets to remove noise/artifacts from input *** general,digital image denoising algorithms,executed on computers,present latency due to several iterations implemented in,e.g.,graphics processing units(GPUs).While deep learning-enabled methods can operate non-iteratively,they also introduce latency and impose a significant computational burden,leading to increased power ***,we introduce an analog diffractive image denoiser to all-optically and non-iteratively clean various forms of noise and artifacts from input images–implemented at the speed of light propagation within a thin diffractive visual processor that axially spans<250×λ,whereλis the wavelength of *** all-optical image denoiser comprises passive transmissive layers optimized using deep learning to physically scatter the optical modes that represent various noise features,causing them to miss the output image Field-of-View(FoV)while retaining the object features of *** results show that these diffractive denoisers can efficiently remove salt and pepper noise and image rendering-related spatial artifacts from input phase or intensity images while achieving an output power efficiency of~30–40%.We experimentally demonstrated the effectiveness of this analog denoiser architecture using a 3D-printed diffractive visual processor operating at the terahertz *** to their speed,power-efficiency,and minimal computational overhead,all-optical diffractive denoisers can be transformative for various image display and projection systems,including,e.g.,holographic displays.

EOS of neutron-rich matter and pure neutron matter

We report the equation of state(EOS) of pure neutron matter(PNM) and neutron-rich matter(NRM) for the realistic Urbana V 14 two nucleon interaction,obtained by using a Variational Monte Carlo(VMC) ***,many body interactions are included as a phenomenological density dependent term in the *** binding energy per nucleon is calculated for different densities and various isospin asymmetry *** results on NRM and PNM are compared with relativistic Brueckner-Hartree-Fock theory and relativistic Hartree-Fock model with the unitary correlation operator *** results obtained in this study show reasonable agreement with both of these relativistic Hartree-Fock *** also compare the binding energies obtained in this study with those obtained by various authors employing different methods and techniques.

雪旺细胞(SCs)的可塑性潜能因其在神经损伤后和周围神经系统疾病中发挥作用而备受关注。有关免疫细胞和雪旺细胞之间相互作用的研究表明雪旺细胞参与炎症过程。然而,人类雪旺细胞的免疫能力主要是从神经病变中推断出来的,但神经损伤后雪旺细胞是否直接调节适应性免疫反应尚不清楚。本研究对人类修复相关雪旺细胞(hrSCs)的免疫调节能力进行综合分析,hrSCs概括了雪旺细胞对体外神经损伤的反应。我们使用有效的人类周围神经原代hrSCs培养模型,分析了转录组、分泌组、以及细胞表面与先天免疫和适应性免疫相关的通路和标志物相关的蛋白;进行了吞噬作用测定,并监测了同种异体共培养细胞中的T细胞亚群激活。本研究结果表明hrSC具有吞噬作用,这与MHCⅡ的高表达一致。此外,hrSC表达协同调节蛋白,如CD40、CD80、B7H3、CD58、CD86和HVEM,释放过多的趋化因子、基质重塑蛋白、促炎及抗炎细胞因子,并在IFNγ进行促炎刺激后上调T细胞对PD-L1分子的抑制。与单核细胞相反,单独的hrSC不足以触发同种异体CD4+和CD8+T细胞,但会限制外源激活的T细胞的数量和激活状态。本研究表明,hrSCs具有体外专职抗原呈递细胞的典型特征和功能,并表明这些细胞在神经再生过程中作为T细胞免疫负调节剂的新作用。

An adaptive Markov chain algorithm applied over map-matching of vehicle trip GPS data

Markov chains have frequently been applied to match the probable routes with a set of GPS trip data that a pilot vehicle is emitting over a specific graph road network. This class of mapmatching (MM) algorithms presently demonstrates and involve statistical and ad-hoc measures to drive the Markov chain transitional probabilities in picking the best route combinations constrained over the graph road network. In this study, we have devised an adaptive scheme to modify the Markov Chain (MC) kernel window as we move along the GPS samples to reduce the mistakes that can happen by the use of narrower MC widths. The measure for temporarily increasing the MC window width is chosen to be the ratio between the geodesic distance of current route to the actual geodesic distance between each pair of GPS samples. This adaptive use of MC has shown to have hardened the results significantly with tolerable computational cost increase. The details of the overall algorithm are depicted by the example routes extracted from various vehicle trips and the results are shown to validate the usefulness of the algorithm in practice.

Alternating Cell Direction Implicit Method using Approximate Factorization on Hybrid Grids

In this study,a novel fast-implicit iteration scheme called the alternating cell direction implicit(ACDI)method is combined with the approximate factorization *** application aims to offer a mathematically well-deﬁned version of the ACDI method and to increase the accuracy of the iteration scheme used for the nu-merical solutions of partial differential *** ACDI method is a fast-implicit method that can be used for unstructured *** use of fast implicit iteration meth-ods with unstructured grids is not common in the *** new ACDI method has been applied to the unsteady diffusion equation to determine its convergence and time-dependent solution ability and *** numerical tests are conducted for different grid types,such as structured,unstructured quadrilateral,and hybrid polygonal ***,the ACDI was applied to the unsteady advection-diffusion equation to understand the time-dependent and progression capabilities of the pre-sented ***,a full potential equation solution is created to understand the complexﬂow solving ability of the presented *** results of the numerical study are compared with other fast implicit methods,such as the point Gauss–Seidel(PGS)and line Gauss–Seidel(LGS)methods and the fourth-order Runge-Kutta(RK4)method,which is an explicit scheme,and the Laasonen method,which is a fully im-plicit *** study increased the abilities of the ACDI *** to the new ACDI method,the approximate factorization method,which is used only in structural grids that are known to be advantageous,can be applied to any mesh structure.

Dual-Port Content Addressable Memory for Cache Memory Applications

Multicore systems oftentimes use multiple levels of cache to bridge the gap between processor and memory *** paper presents a new design of a dedicated pipeline cache memory for multicore processors called dual port content addressable memory(DPCAM).In addition,it proposes a new replacement algorithm based on hardware which is called a near-far access replacement algorithm(NFRA)to reduce the cost overhead of the cache controller and improve the cache access *** experimental results indicated that the latency for write and read operations are significantly less in comparison with a set-associative cache ***,it was shown that a latency of a read operation is nearly constant regardless of the size of ***,an estimation of the power dissipation showed that DPCAM consumes about 7%greater than a set-associative cache memory of the same *** results encourage for embedding DPCAM within the multicore processors as a small shared cache memory.

Prevalence of Helicobacter pylori virulence genotypes among children in Eastern Turkey

AIM:To identify the virulence genotypes of Helicobacter pylori(***)if present in children in Eastern Turkey and if those genotypes are mostly associated with severe clinical ***:A total of 49 *** positive Turkish children(42 with antral nodularity and 7 with peptic ulcer)who underwent upper gastrointestinal endoscopy with abdominal symptoms during the period from March 2011 to September 2012 were enrolled in this *** nodularity was diagnosed endoscopically by two of the *** determined for the presence of cagA,vacA,cagE,iceA and babA2 genotypes of *** isolates in DNA obtained directly from frozen gastric biopsy samples by polymerase chain reaction test using specific ***:Of the 49 *** isolates studied,61.2%,91.8%,22.4%,28.6%,57.1%and 40.8%were positive for the cagA,vacA s1,cagE,iceA1,iceA2 and babA2 genes,*** showed that the most common vacA subtype was s1a(79.6%).However,the s2 gene was found less frequently with an isolation rate of 8.2%of the *** *** genotypes iceA2 and vacA s1m2 were the most frequently found types in children with antral *** addition,the genotypes iceA1,babA2 and vacA s1m1 were found in similar ratios in all the *** isolates obtained from children with peptic *** genotypes vacA s2m1and s1c were not observed in any of isolates ***:This study showed that vacA s1m2,cagA and iceA2 were the most common genotypes,and no association between antral nodularity and genotypes was observed.
