Rasch validation of the Chinese parent-child interaction scale (CPCIS)

Background Proper parent-child interaction is crucial for child development, but an assessment tool in Chinese is currently lacking. This study aimed to develop and validate a parent-reported parent-child interaction scale for Chinese preschool children. Methods The Chinese parent-child interaction scale (CPCIS) was designed by an expert panel based on the literature and clinical observations in the Chinese context. The initial CPCIS had 14 parent-child interactive activity items. Psychometric properties of the CPCIS were examined using the Rasch model and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Convergent validity was investigated by the associations between CPCIS and family income, maternal education level, and children's school readiness. Results The study recruited 567 Chinese parent-child pairs from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, who completed the CPCIS. Six out of the 14 items in the initial CPCIS were dropped due to suboptimal fi t values. The refined 8-item CPCIS was shown to be valid and reliable by Rasch models and CFA. The person separation reliability and Cronbach's α of the CPCIS were 0.81 and 0.82, respectively. The CPCIS scores were positively associated with family's socioeconomic status (η2 = 0.05,P < 0.001), maternal education level (η2 = 0.08,P < 0.001), and children's school readiness (η2 = 0.01,P < 0.01). Conclusion CPCIS is an easily administered, valid, and reliable tool for the assessment of parent-child interactions in Chinese families.

Background Asthma is a significant chronic health problem worldwide. Management aims at disease control by reducing functional impairment and exacerbations and improving quality of life (QoL). We report a multi-center study to survey asthma control and QoL in four cities in the Pearl River Delta. Methods The conjoint survey involved ten Hong Kong pediatric hospitals/units, two Shenzhen hospitals, two Macao hos-pitals, and two Guangzhou hospitals on asthma control (using Asthma Control Test) and QoL (Pediatric Allergic Disease Quality of Life Questionnaire, PADQLQ). Acceptability of a treatment is graded as very good/good/fair/poor. Results Good asthma control was only reported in 80% subjects in Hong Kong, but higher in sister cities (85–94%, Pwas associated with better PADQLQ (B=?0.029, P was associated with allergic rhinitis severity (B=4.77, P <0.001), poor control of asthma (B=7.56, P <0.001), increased frequency of traditional Chinese medicine use (B=1.7, P < 0.05), increased fre-quency of bronchodilator usage (B=1.05, P < 0.05), 'smoker in family' (B=4.05, P < 0.05), and incense burning at home (B=3.9, P < 0.05). Conclusions There are some clinical and cultural differences among the four southern Chinese cities within the Guangdong province. This study identifies potentially modifiable environmental and treatment factors associated with poor asthma control and QoL for health-care interventions. Having a smoker in the family is independently associated with poor asthma control and QoL.

kaKs_Calculator is a software package that calculates nonsynonymous （ka） and synonymous （Ks） substitution rates through model selection and model averaging. Since existing methods for this estimation adopt their specific mutation （substitution） models that consider different evolutionary features, leading to diverse estimates, kaKs_Calculator implements a set of candidate models in a maximum likelihood framework and adopts the Akaike information criterion to measure fitness between models and data, aiming to include as many features as needed for accurately capturing evolutionary information in protein-coding sequences. In addition, several existing methods for calculating ka and Ks are also incorporated into this software. kaKs_Calculator, including source codes, compiled executables, and documentation, is freely available for academic use at http：//***/***.

The liver is an immunologically tolerant organ and a common metastatic site of multiple cancer *** a role for cancer cell invasion programs has been well characterized,whether and how liver-intrinsic factors drive metastatic spread is incompletely ***,we show that aberrantly activated hepatocyte-intrinsic cell cycle-related kinase(CCRK)signaling in chronic liver diseases is critical for cancer metastasis by reprogramming an immunosuppressive *** an inducible liverspecific transgenic model,we found that CCRK overexpression dramatically increased both B16F10 melanoma and MC38 colorectal cancer(CRC)metastasis to the liver,which was highly infiltrated by polymorphonuclear-myeloid-derived suppressor cells(PMNMDSCs)and lacking natural killer T(NKT)*** of PMN-MDSCs in CCRK transgenic mice restored NKT cell levels and their interferon gamma production and reduced liver metastasis to 2.7% and 0.7%(metastatic tumor weights)in the melanoma and CRC models,***,CCRK activated nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)signaling to increase the PMN-MDSC trafficking chemokine C-X-C motif ligand 1(CXCL1),which was positively correlated with liver-infiltrating PMN-MDSC levels in CCRK transgenic ***,CRC liver metastasis patients exhibited hyperaaivation of hepatic CCRK/NF-κB/CXCL1 signaling,which was associated with accumulation of PMN-MDSCs and paucity of NKT cells compared to healthy liver transplantation *** summary,this study demonstrates that immunosuppressive reprogramming by hepatic CCRK signaling undermines antimetastatic *** findings offer new mechanistic insights and therapeutic targets for liver metastasis intervention.

Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi("huang qin"),Ligusticum chuanxiong Hort.("chuang xiong"),Panax notoginseng(Burk.)***("san qi"),Uncaria rhynchophylla(Miq.)Jackson,("gou teng"),Rhokiola rosea L.("hong jing tian")and Stephania tetrandra ***("fang ji")are commonly used traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)for hypertensive *** pharmacologically active compounds found in these TCMs are:baicalin,ligustrazine, notoginsenoside R rhynchophylline,salidroside and tetrandrine,respectively,which possess anti-hypertensive properties with diverse cellular *** this study,we attempted to evaluate a possible correlation of the anti-oxidative activities(using the cell-free DPPH assay)and the vaso-relaxation effects(using rat isolated thoracic aorta)of these *** the anti-oxidative study,a relative order of free radical scavenging capacity(SR%)of:baicalin≥tetradrine >>salidroside≥ligustrazine≥rhynchophylline≈notoginsenoside R was *** the vaso-relaxing study,a relative order of the maximum relaxation response(at 3 mM)of:tetradrine>baicalin>>ligustrazine>notoginsenoside R≈rhynchophylline>salidroside was recorded.A positive correlation(R=0.7741)between the anti-oxidative activity and the vascular relaxation effect of the compounds evaluated was *** contrast,ascorbic acid only elicited a free radical scavenging activity with no apparent relaxation effect;whereas nifedipine(a Cachannel blocker)caused a marked vascular relaxation with no obvious free radical scavenging ***,our results suggest,for the first time,that the therapeutic effect(***-hypertensive)of these TCM-oriented drugs,unlike the Western medicine,are probably correlated with the unique anti-oxidative potential of these compounds.

Dear Editor,Since the late 1980s, trauma in China has been identified as a major public health challenge, with trafic-related fatalities accounting for 80% of accidental deaths[1]. In 2019, Shenzhen had a total population of approximately 20 million, and from 2010 to 2017, both emergency medical services and the total number of trauma patients increased, with trauma accounting for 47.0% and 38.4% of all patients in 2010 and 2017, respectively[2,3]. This report describes the efforts to implement programs and establish a trauma system in Shenzhen, China.

环境DNA(e DNA)技术是近年来新兴的一种野外水生生物调查方法。本研究旨在设计一组香港瘰螈(Paramesotriton hongkongensis)特异的引物和TaqMan探针并确立此eDNA方法在水样中的实用性,以期进一步调查其野外种群分布。测定11种瘰螈物种的线粒体细胞色素b(Cyt b)基因序列,然后使用Primer Express 3.0软件设计引物和TaqMan探针。通过比对NCBI基因库及进行退火温度梯度测试,验证引物和TaqMan探针的特异性。通过测试不同浓度的引物和TaqMan探针,优化q PCR扩增效率。然后检测养殖不同数量香港瘰螈的水缸水体中eDNA,以评估已建立的q PCR方法灵敏度。同时,测定香港瘰螈e DNA降解速度,以估计其在水中的持续时间。实验结果显示,本研究所设计的引物和探针只对香港瘰螈呈阳性扩增,而对同属的其他10个物种均呈阴性。优化的q PCR效率为93.9%、最低检测浓度为10DNA拷贝数。已建立的qPCR方法能灵敏地检测出在养殖1只香港瘰螈24h实验水缸水体的DNA拷贝数为(13.56±3.35)/ml水样。另外,降解实验发现,采用0.45μm孔径滤膜已有效检测香港瘰螈e DNA并能监测15 d。本研究成功设计并建立了一种能在水环境中检测香港瘰螈是否存在的e DNA技术,以期应用于野外考察。
