The organ-specific toxicity resulting from microplastic(MP)exposure has been extensively explored,particularly concerning the gut,liver,testis,and ***,under natural conditions,these effects are not restricted to specific organs or *** whether MP exposure presents a systemic threat to an entire organism,impacting factors such as lifespan,sleep,and fecundity,is *** this study,we investigated the effects of dietary exposure to two different doses of MPs(1–5μm)using the terrestrial model organism Drosophila *** indicated that the particles caused gut damage and remained within the digestive *** MP exposure significantly shortened the lifespan of adult *** short-term exposure disrupted sleep patterns,increasing the length of daytime sleep ***,one week of MP exposure reduced ovary size,with a trend towards decreased egg-laying in mated *** MPs did not penetrate the brain or ovaries,transcriptome analysis revealed altered gene expression in these *** the ovary,Gene Ontology(GO)analysis indicated genotoxic effects impacting inflammation,circadian regulation,and metabolic processes,with significant impacts on extracellular structure-related *** the brain,GO analysis identified changes in pathways associated with proteolysis and carbohydrate ***,this study provides compelling evidence of the systemic negative effects of MP exposure,highlighting the urgent need to address and mitigate environmental MP pollution.

Zinc metabolism at the cellular level is critical for many biological processes in the body.A key observation is the disruption of cellular homeostasis,often coinciding with disease *** an essential factor in maintaining cellular equilibrium,cellular zinc has been increasingly spotlighted in the context of disease *** research suggests zinc’s involvement in promoting malignancy and invasion in cancer cells,despite its low tissue *** has led to a growing body of literature investigating zinc’s cellular metabolism,particularly the functions of zinc transporters and storage mechanisms during cancer *** transportation is under the control of two major transporter families:SLC30(ZnT)for the excretion of zinc and SLC39(ZIP)for the zinc ***,the storage of this essential element is predominantly mediated by metallothioneins(MTs).This review consolidates knowledge on the critical functions of cellular zinc signaling and underscores potential molecular pathways linking zinc metabolism to disease progression,with a special focus on *** also compile a summary of clinical trials involving zinc *** the main localization of zinc transporters at the cell membrane,the potential for targeted therapies,including small molecules and monoclonal antibodies,offers promising avenues for future exploration.

A discrete-time stochastic LQ problem with multiplicative noises and state transmission delay is studied in this paper,which does not require any definiteness constraint on the cost weighting matrices. Necessary and sufficient conditions are derived for the case with a fixed time-state initial pair. A set of coupled discrete-time Riccati-like equations can be derived to characterize the existence and the form of the delayed optimal control. Furthermore, the convexity of the cost functional is fully characterized via certain properties of the solution of the Riccati-like equations.

The demand for and usage of broadband coherent mid-infrared sources,such as those provided by synchrotron facilities,are *** most organic molecules exhibit characteristic vibrational modes in the wavelength range between 500 and 4000 cm^(−1),such broadband coherent sources enable micro-or even nano-spectroscopic applications at or below the diffraction limit with a high signal-to-noise ratio1–*** techniques have been applied in diverse fields ranging from life sciences,material analysis,and time-resolved *** we demonstrate a broadband,coherent and intrinsically carrier-envelope-phase-stable source with a spectrum spanning from 500 to 2250 cm^(−1)(−30 dB)at an average power of 24mW and a repetition rate of 77 *** performance is enabled by the first mode-locked thin-disk oscillator operating at 2μm wavelength,providing a tenfold increase in average power over femtosecond oscillators previously demonstrated in this wavelength ***-octave spectral coverage from this compact and power-scalable system opens up a range of time-and frequency-domain spectroscopic applications.

Patients with Helicobacter pylori positive and negative duodenal ulcers have distinct clinical characteristics

AIM: To assess the clinical characteristics of Helicobacterpylori(H pylori) negative duodenal ***: Patients with an endoscopic diagnosis of duodenal ulcer between 1996 and 2002 were included in the present study. Patients were considered to be negative for Hpylori, if both histological examination and rapid urease test of biopsy specimens were negative. A comparison was made between patients with H pyloripositive and negative duodenal ***: A total of 1 343 patients were studied. Their mean age was 54.7±0.5 years. There was a male preponderance (M:F = 2.5:1). Three hundred and ninetyeight patients (29.6%) did not have H pylori infection. The annual proportion of patients with H pylori negative duodenal ulcers increased progressively from 1996 to2002. On multivariate analysis, patients with H pylorinegative duodenal ulcer were more likely to be older, have concomitant medical problem, pre-existing malignancy, recent surgery, underlying sepsis, or taken non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. In terms of clinical presentations, patients with H pylori negative duodenal ulcer were more likely to present with bleeding, multiple ulcers and larger ***: The proportion of patients with H pylori negative duodenal ulcers is on the rise because of a continued drop in incidence of H pylori positive duodenalulcers in recent years. Such patients have distinct clinical characteristics and it is important to ascertain the H pylori status before starting eradication therapy.

Immunomodulation by mesenchymal stem cells:Interplay between mesenchymal stem cells and regulatory lymphocytes

Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs) possess immunomodulatory properties, which confer enormous potential for clinical application. Considerable evidence revealed their efficacy on various animal models of autoimmune diseases, such as multiple sclerosis, systemic lupus erythematosus and uveitis. MSCs elicit their immunomodulatory effects by inhibiting lymphocyte activation and proliferation, forbidding the secretion of proinflammatory cytokines, limiting the function of antigen presenting cells, and inducing regulatory T(Treg) and B(Breg) cells. The induction of Treg and Breg cells is of particular interest since Treg and Breg cells have significant roles in maintaining immune tolerance. Several mechanisms have been proposed regarding to the MSCs-mediated induction of Treg and Breg cells. Accordingly, MSCs induce regulatory lymphocytes through secretion of multiple pleiotropic cytokines, cell-to-cell contact with target cells and modulation of antigen-presenting cells. Here, we summarized how MSCs induce Treg and Breg cells to provoke immunosuppression.
