Shape estimation for a TPU-based multi-material 3D printed soft pneumatic actuator using deep learning models

Real-time proprioception presents a significant challenge for soft robots due to their infinite degrees of freedom and intrinsic *** studies mostly focused on specific sensors and *** is still a lack of generalizable technologies for integrating soft sensing elements into soft actuators and mapping sensor signals to proprioception *** tackle this problem,we employed multi-material 3D printing technology to fabricate sensorized soft-bending actuators(SBAs)using plain and conductive thermoplastic polyurethane(TPU)*** designed various geometric shapes for the sensors and investigated their strain-resistive performance during *** address the nonlinear time-variant behavior of the sensors during dynamic modeling,we adopted a data-driven approach using different deep neural networks to learn the relationship between sensor signals and system states.A series of experiments in various actuation scenarios were conducted,and the results demonstrated the effectiveness of this *** sensing and shape prediction steps can run in real-time at a frequency of50 Hz on a consumer-level ***,a method is proposed to enhance the robustness of the learning models using data augmentation to handle unexpected sensor *** the methods are efficient,not only for in-plane 2D shape estimation but also for out-of-plane 3D shape *** aim of this study is to introduce a methodology for the proprioception of soft pneumatic actuators,including manufacturing and sensing modeling,that can be generalized to other soft robots.

Integrated printing of magnetic soft robots with complex structures using recyclable materials to achieve sustainability of the soft robots remains a persistent ***,we propose a kind of ferromagnetic fibers that can be used to print soft robots with complex *** ferromagnetic fibers are recyclable and can make soft robots *** ferromagnetic fibers based on thermoplastic polyurethane(TPU)/NdFeB hybrid particles are extruded by an *** use a desktop three-dimensional(3D)printer to demonstrate the feasibility of printing two-dimensional(2D)and complex 3D soft *** printed soft robots can be recycled and reprinted into new robots once their tasks are ***,these robots show almost no difference in actuation capability compared to prior versions and have new *** applications include lifting,grasping,and moving objects,and these functions can be operated untethered *** addition,the locomotion of the magnetic soft robot in a human stomach model shows the prospect of medical ***,these fully recyclable ferromagnetic fibers pave the way for printing and reprinting sustainable soft robots while also effectively reducing e-waste and robotics waste materials,which is important for resource conservation and environmental protection.

Turned Trochoidal Disturbance on a Liquid Jet Surface

This paper shows that a turned trochoidal function disturbance may lead to peripheral drops production. The resulting model is used to describe that a turned trochoidal disturbance leads to peripheral drops production on the liquid jet surface without the necessity for superimposed disturbances. The trochoid is a non-unique parametric function. Only non-unique parametric functions disturbances may lead to peripheral drops production. The trochoidal function disturbance is decomposed to Fourier series. Every Fourier element receives an amplification factor in accordance to the Rayleigh inviscid jet model. Peripheral drops are received on the jet surface. The paper shows that all trochoidal disturbance functions, prolate cycloid, cycloid and curtate cycloid have a capability of peripheral drops producing. A limited capability of peripheral drops production is introduced for the trochoidal curtate cycloid. Produced drops size are reduced for increasing the jet velocity and wave number. Smaller drops are also received by transition from the prolate cycloid to curtate cycloid disturbance.

The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard Model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.
