The presence of sperm was observed in different organs of the reproductive tract of M. schmitti. These were the club, baffle and terminal zone of the oviducal gland, posterior portion of the uterus and in the cervix. This fact allowed for consideration not only its storage but its interaction with the female reproductive tract epithelia as well. SEM （microscopic observation studies） detected loose and sole spermatozoa in the club and baffle zones in a pregnant female. On the other hand, histochemical techniques showed sperm storage tubules of the terminal zone, which contain bundles of sperm, do not stain AB （alcian blue） or PAS （periodic acid schiff）. Disintegration of some of the male gametes was observed in the posterior part of the uterus with TEM （transmission electron microscopy） studies which would indicate a first uterine sperm selection. The uterine epithelial cells involved in this process showed an important level of secretion vacuoles suggesting an interaction with sperm cells. Sperm in the cervix was found without the matrix that constitutes the spermatozeugmata formed in the male tract. Some heads of the sperm were uncurled while they were interacting with the cervical cells.

Objective To examine the relationship between Tpeak- Tend interval （Tpe） and Tpe/QT ratio with occurrence of ventricular premature beats （VPBs） and left ventricular remodeling in hypertension. Methods A total of 52 patients with mild to moderate essential hypertension were included, undergoing echocardiography and 24-hours Holter monitoring. Ventricular remodeling was assessed by left ventricular mass index （LVMI） using the Devereux formula and diastolic fimction by transmitral E and A wave velocities and E/A ratio. Tpe was measured in the precordial leads. The end of the T wave was set by the method of the tangent to the steepest descending slope of the T wave. Results Tpe and Tpe/QT in leads V2 （r = 0.33, P = 0.01; r = 0.27, P = 0.04 respectively） and V3 （r = 0.40, P = 0.002; r = 0.40, P = 0.003, respectively） correlated significantly with LVMI. A significant inverse relationship was observed between E/A ratio and QT （r = -0.33, P = 0.01）, Tpe in V3 （r = -0.39, P = 0.003） and Tpe/QT in V3 （r = -0.31, P = 0.02）. Tpe in V3, V5, mean Tpe and maximum Tpe with cut-offvalues of 60 ms, 59 ms, 62 ms and 71 ms, respectively, associated with the occurrence of ventricular premature beats. Conclusions The repolarization parameters Tpe interval and Tpe/QT ratio correlate with LVMI and indices of left ventricular diastolic function and show better predictive values than traditional parameters such as QT interval and QT dispersion. Lead V3 is the best lead for measuring Tpe and Tpe/QT. These ECG indices can therefore be used in clinical practice to monitor LV remodeling and predict occurrence of VPBs.

This contribution of this paper is devoted to the research results in the field of self-expression and self-image of the individual in the world of information processing and cognition. Marketing strategies help make decisions that will help us to bring the subject to market activities. The current trend is a knowledge-based society, skills, abilities, information, storage, and transmission. Our marketing strategy focuses on four key issues： production, respectively service, price, distribution channels, and advertising. It is important to know how to develop an individual＇s current self-image. Implementation strategies are then engaged in transforming decisions into concrete action, meaning, and the decision has to be taken with regard to flexibility and acceptance. The sample consists of 4,420 respondents, men and women in three age groups： 0-15 years, 16-40 years, and 41-60 years. All responded to one question, ＂Where is your center？＂ Respondents had to show on their body. The question was chosen very sensitive, not to predict the answer. Terms soul, psyche, personality would be very manipulative, and therefore were excluded. In line with expectations, the majority of respondents have shown to their head, chest, and abdomen, but were also unconventional answers, in accordance with the preferred self-image and values of the individual. Lessons from research outputs were analyzed by the following processes： general description, item-total correlation, exploratory factor analysis of individual areas, and correlation analysis of individual items. It was found that medium correlations between area of body abdomen and age to 15 years were significant. Mean item-total correlation for areas of body were： Head was 0.35 and chest 0.43, and abdomen 0.22. In the descriptive statistics it was found that most respondents preferred the chest, followed by the head and abdomen. As for the distribution of respondents into three age groups, we found differences between men and wome

The Angaco INTA onion variety is the most cultivated and its production,mostly is destined for *** to their high-quality standards of these markets,many onions are *** drying process seems to be a promising solution that not only give added value to this product,but also extend shelf *** this work,the influence of convective drying process,at 60 and 70C,on the kinetic behavior,antioxidant activity,phenolic and flavonoid contents of discarded onion slices were *** that,the Angaco INTA onion is a variety genetically developed to have shorter cultivation times in this region;the phenolic compounds content in this onion variety,the drying kinetics and its influence on this content have never been *** this study,the phenolic compounds contributions to dehydrated product quality was evaluated,observing that the convective drying increased the total soluble phenolic and flavonoid contents and antioxidant properties for both temperatures,being highest at 70*** rehydration ratios were similar to the slices dried at 60 and 70*** models were used for describing the obtained drying curve equation of onion slices,being the Midilli’s model the one that presented the best ***’s model of water diffusion fitted all experimental data with acceptable correlation *** the achieved findings,70C is the optimum temperature to produce the dehydrated Angaco INTA onion.

Glutathione （GSH） is a tripeptide that constitutes one of the main intracellular reducing compounds. The normal content of GSH in the intestine is essential to optimize the intestinal Ca2＋ absorption. The use of GSH depleting drugs such as DL-buthionine-S,R-sulfoximine, menadione or vitamin K3, sodium deoxycholate or diets enriched in fructose, which induce several features of the metabolic syndrome, produce inhibition of the intestinal Ca2＋ ab-sorption. The GSH depleting drugs switch the redox state towards an oxidant condition provoking oxida-tive/nitrosative stress and inflammation, which lead to apoptosis and/or autophagy of the enterocytes. Either the transcellular Ca transport or the paracellular Ca route are altered by GSH depleting drugs. The gene and/or protein expression of transporters involved in the transcellular Ca2＋ pathway are decreased. The favonoids quercetin and naringin highly abrogate the inhibition of intestinal Ca2＋ absorption, not only by restoration of the GSH levels in the intestine but also by their anti-apoptotic properties. Ursodeoxycholic acid, melatonin and glutamine also block the inhibition of Ca2＋ transport caused by GSH depleting drugs. The use of any of these antioxidants to ameliorate the intestinal Ca2＋ absorption under oxidant conditions associated with different pathologies in humans requires more investigation with regards to the safety,pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of them.

Although pharmaceuticals have beendetected in the environment only in the range from ng/L to μg/L, it has beendemonstrated that they can adversely affect the health status of aquatic organisms. Lysosomal membrane stability （LMS） has previously been applied as an indicator of cellularwell-being todetermine health status in bivalve mussels. The objective of this study is to evaluate LMS in Ruditapes philippinarum haemolymph using the neutral red retention assay （NRRA）. Clamswere exposed in laboratory conditions to caffeine （0.1, 5, 15, 50 μg/L）, ibuprofen （0.1, 5, 10, 50 μg/L）, carbamazepine and novobiocin （both at 0.1, 1, 10, 50 μg/L） for35days. Results show adose-dependent effect of the pharmaceuticals. The neutral red retention time measured at the end of the bioassaywas significantly reduced by 50% after exposure to environmental concentrations （p 〈 0.05）（caffeine = 15 μg/L; ibuprofen = 10 μg/L; carbamazepine = 1 μg/L and novobiocin = 1 μg/L）, compared to controls. Clams exposed to these pharmaceuticalswere considered to present adiminished health status （retention time 〈45 min）, significantlyworse than controls （96 min）（p 〈 0.05）. The predicted no environmental effect concentration （PNEC） results showed that these pharmaceuticals are very toxic at the environmental concentrations tested. Measurement of the alteration of LMS has been found to be a sensitive technique that enables evaluation of the health status of clams after exposure to pharmaceuticals under laboratory conditions, thus representing a robust Tier-1 screening biomarker.

Aims:This review was developed to introduce the essential components and variants of structural equation modeling(SEM),synthesize the common issues in SEM applications,and share our views on SEM’s future in ecological ***:We searched the Web of Science on SEM applications in ecological studies from 1999 through 2016 and summarized the potential of SEMs,with a special focus on unexplored uses in *** also analyzed and discussed the common issues with SEM applications in previous publications and presented our view for its future ***:We searched and found 146 relevant publications on SEM applications in ecological *** found that five SEM variants had not commenly been applied in ecology,including the latent growth curve model,Bayesian SEM,partial least square SEM,hierarchical SEM,and variable/model *** identified ten common issues in SEM applications including strength of causal assumption,specification of feedback loops,selection of models and variables,identification of models,methods of estimation,explanation of latent variables,selection of fit indices,report of results,estimation of sample size,and the fit of ***:In previous ecological studies,measurements of latent variables,explanations of model parameters,and reports of key statistics were commonly overlooked,while several advanced uses of SEM had been ignored *** the increasing availability of data,the use of SEM holds immense potential for ecologists in the future.

The influence of in ovo injection with the prebiotic DiNovoon the development of histomorphological parameters of the duodenum, body mass and productivity in large-scale poultry production conditions

Background: Among various feed additives currently used in poultry nutrition, an important role is played by bioactive substances, including prebiotics. The beneficial effect of these bioactive substances on the gastrointestinal tract and immune system give rise to improvements in broiler health and performance nutrition, thus increasing the productivity of these birds. An innovative method for introducing bioactive substances into chickens is the in ovo injection into eggs intended for hatching. The aim of the study was to evaluate the development of histomorphological parameters of the duodenum and productivity in chickens injected in ovo with the prebiotic DiNovo~?(extract of Laminaria species of seaweed, BioA tlantis Ltd., Ireland) on d 12 of incubation, under large-scale, high density poultry production ***: There was no significant impact of the injection of DiNovo~? prebiotic on the production parameters of broiler chickens(body weight, FCR, EBI and mortality) obtained on d 42 of rearing. No significant impact of the DiNovo~? injection on the duodenum weight and length was observed, as wel as on the CSA, diameter and muscular layer thickness of the duodenum. The in ovo injection of DiNovo~? significantly increased the width of the duodenal vil i(P < 0.05) and crypt depth(P < 0.01) of chickens on d 21 of rearing. Other histomorphological parameters of duodenal vil i at d 42 of chickens rearing such as: the height, width, and cross section area of vil i were significantly greater in chickens from the control group compared to those from the DiNovo~? group(P < 0.05 and P < 0.01).Conclusions: In conclusion, this study demonstrates that injection of DiNovo~? prebiotic into the air chamber of egg significantly influences the histomorphological parameters on d 21 of rearing without negatively affecting productivity in chickens at the end of rearing.
