This paper proposes a novel hybrid method to simulate the dry granular flow of materials over a wide range of inertial numbers that simultaneously covers the quasi-static and dense granular flow regimes. To overcome the lack of incremental objectivity whenever large deformations occur in solid-like regimes and to remove computational singularities in fluid-like regimes close to rest, the elastic–perfectly plastic theory based on the Drucker–Prager yield criterion is combined with the theory of dense granular flows. By implementing some new modifications at the boundaries and removing all ghost particles, smoothed particle hydrodynamics （SPH） is used as the framework for the method. A number of benchmark problems have been solved to show the capabilities of the new modified SPH method. Precise prediction of both location and pressure makes the modifications comparable with the previous works on SPH. Finally, the method is used to solve the classic 2D dry granular cliff collapse problem and to model dry granular material flow inside a rotary drum. The outcomes of the numerical simulation show good agreement with tabletop experiments and published results.

BACKGROUND Childhood cancer survivors are potentially at a higher risk of infection with hepatitis C virus (HCV).The effects of all-oral direct-acting antiviral therapy (DAA) on both the HCV infection as well as the state of cancer remission have not been well investigated in this *** To test the effects of dual sofosbuvir/daclatasvir (SOF/DCV) therapy in the treatment of chronic HCV in survivors of hematologic malignancy in pediatric age *** We conducted a prospective,uncontrolled,open-label multicenter study.A total of 20 eligible,chronic HCV,genotype-4,infected children who had been in continuous complete remission from hematologic cancer (leukemia/lymphoma) for at least one year were included in the *** patients were treated with combined SOF/DCV for 12 *** were monitored throughout the study till 12 wk after end of treatment for safety and efficacy outcomes including the sustained virologic response 12 (SVR12) rate,hematological indices,liver and kidney *** The intent-to-treat SVR12 rate was 20 of 20 (100%;95%CI: 84%-100%).All patients showed normalized liver enzymes from *** hematological indices,liver and kidney functions were kept normal throughout the *** fatalities or treatment-emergent serious or severe adverse events were reported throughout the *** SOF/DCV combined therapy could be used safely and effectively in the treatment of chronic HCV genotype-4 infection in leukemia/lymphoma treated *** relapses were detected during treatment and throughout the follow up period for either the original malignant disease or the HCV infection.

AIM: To determine whether ophthalmic photographers(OPs) can conduct virtual clinics(VCs) in medical retina appropriately and whether this increases clinic ***: Three OPs underwent a training programme to learn how to assess and manage macular edema secondary to diabetes or retinal vein occlusion. The 300 consecutive patients over a 7-month observation period in 2018 were assessed in VCs by both OPs and medical retina consultants. The degree of agreement in treatment decisions between doctors and photographers, as well as adverse events, was recorded. The change in number of patients seen in VCs over two years was also ***: There was 100% agreement in management decisions between doctors and photographers during the 300-patient observation period. No adverse events were recorded. In 2017, 572 patients were seen in VCs by doctors. After OP clinics were introduced in 2018, this number increased by 24% to 709 patients seen by both photographers and doctors. There was a significant increase in mean number of patients seen per month between 2017(47.7±11.7) and 2018(59.1±14.4;P=0.045, 95%CI-22.5 to-0.296).CONCLUSION: OPs can manage certain medical retina patients in VCs appropriately and can increase clinic capacity significantly for particular conditions.
