Objective:To evaluate the protective effect of tannins from Ficus racemosa(***) on the lipid profile and antioxidant parameters in high fat meal and streptozotocin induced hypercholestremia associated diabetes model in ***:The crude tannin fraction was separated from the acetone(70%v/v) bark extract of *** administratipn of tannin fraction(TF)(100 & 200 mg/kg body weight) to rats fed with high fat meal for 30 days (4%cholesterol,1%cholic acid,0.5%egg albumin) and injected with streptozotocin(35 mg/ kg *** citrate buffer on 14th day).Results:The administration of TF significantly reverse the increased blood glucose,total cholesterol,triglycerides,low density lipoprotein and also significandy restored the insulin and high density lipoprotein in the *** addition tannins significantly restored the activity of antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase,catalase and decreased the,glutathione peroxidase,and glutathione,thereby restoring the antioxidant status of the organs to almost normal ***:The results of this study show that two different doses of tannin supplementation had a favorable effect on plasma glucose and lipid profile *** also had an influence on attenuating oxidative stress in diabetic tats.

AIM: Sargassum wightii Greville is a marine brown alga belonging to the Sargassaceae family which has about 200 species. The ethanolic extract of the whole dry plant powder contained numerous phytoconstituents, including flavonoids. The study was focused on the anticancer activity of Sargassum wightii in mice. METHOD: The ethanolic extract of Sargassum wightii(EESW) at two dose levels was used to examine the anticancer activity in mice using DAL cell lines to induce cancer. The body weight, viable and non-viable tumor cell count, mean survival time, increase in life span, and hematological parameters were observed for anticancer activity of EESW. RESULTS: The intraperitoneal inoculation of DAL cells in mice significantly increased cancer cell count. The decrease in the cancer cell number observed in the EESW-treated group cancer animals indicates that the test drug has a significant inhibitory effect on the tumor cell proliferation. Treatment with EESW also showed a significant decrease in tumor weight, and hence increased the lifespan of DAL-treated mice. In addition, EESW administration significantly restored the hematological parameters in DAL-treated mice. CONCLUSION: The present study results suggest that administration of extract offers enhanced antioxidant potential. Therefore it can be concluded from this study that EESW possesses anticancer activity.

The present investigation was considered in arraying of antidiabetic and antioxidant activity from dietary flavonoid loaded fraction of Acanthophora spicifera(***,Family:Rhodomelaceae)on streptozotocin(STZ)induced oxidative stress *** testings were acted upon male rats,which were alienated into five groups:control group,diabetic group(single dose of 65 mg/kg,streptozotocin(STZ)i.p.),diabetic with insulin(6 IU),and diabetic with flavonoid rich fraction groups(FRF)at 50 and 100 mg/kg body weight,given orally for 21 *** blood glucose level was determined at different week *** antioxidant consequences of FRF on STZ-induced diabetic rats were determined by the estimations of the oxidative stress marker like malonyldialdehyde and antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase,catalase and glutathione in tissue homogenates of heart,liver and *** treatment of diabetic rats significantly(P<0.05)diminishes the blood glucose altitudes to normal in contrast with diabetic ***,FRF administration,significantly decreased the malonyldialdehyde(MDA)and increased the activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD),catalase(CAT)and glutathione levels(GSH)in diabetic *** outcome designates that FRF fraction from red algae *** was potent anti diabetic and antioxidant asset against STZ induced diabetes and oxidative tissue breakups.©2016 Beijing Academy of Food *** and hosting by Elsevier *** rights reserved.

Landsat-5 Thematic Mapper(TM) dataset have been used to estimate salinity in the coastal area of Hong Kong. Four adjacent Landsat TM images were used in this study, which was atmospherically corrected using the Second Simulation of the Satellite Signal in the Solar Spectrum(6S) radiative transfer code. The atmospherically corrected images were further used to develop models for salinity using Ordinary Least Square(OLS) regression and Geographically Weighted Regression(GWR) based on in situ data of October 2009. Results show that the coefficient of determination(R^2) of 0.42 between the OLS estimated and in situ measured salinity is much lower than that of the GWR model, which is two times higher(R^2 = 0.86). It indicates that the GWR model has more ability than the OLS regression model to predict salinity and show its spatial heterogeneity better. It was observed that the salinity was high in Deep Bay(north-western part of Hong Kong) which might be due to the industrial waste disposal, whereas the salinity was estimated to be constant(32 practical salinity units) towards the open sea.

The magnesium alloys are the next-generation lightweight metal materials;however, the production of the complex shape components of thermo-mechanical processed magnesium alloys is very limited in comparison to their die-casted counterparts. Both high strain rate and low-temperature processing are required to save time and cost for the project. Uniaxial tensile testing has been vastly used for determining the plasticity of magnesium alloys at elevated temperatures. Therefore, this review article sheds light on superplastic behaviors under the uniaxial tensile loading of different magnesium alloys. This review also emphasizes low and high-temperature superplasticity, high strain rate superplasticity, deformation mechanism, thermal stability, texture evaluation, and fracture mechanism of extruded/rolled and severe plastic deformed magnesium alloys. At the end of the review, some technical issues have been addressed which can be beneficial for further enhancement in the superplasticity of magnesium alloys.

In this paper,propagation characteristics of electromagnetic electron cyclotron(EMEC)waves based on kappa-Maxwellian distribution have been investigated to invoke the interplay of the electric field parallel to the Earth’s magnetic field and auroral trapped *** dispersion relation for EMEC waves in kappa-Maxwellian distributed plasma has been derived using the contribution of the parallel electric field and trapped electron *** results show that the presence of the electric field has a stimulating effect on growth rate,which is more pronounced at low values of wave *** is also observed that as the threshold value of trapped electron speed is surpassed,it dominates the effect of the parallel electric field and EMEC instability is enhanced *** electric field acts as another source of free energy,and growth can be obtained even in the absence of trapped electron drift speed and for very small values of temperature *** the present study reveals the interplay of the parallel electric field and trapped electron speed on the excitation of EMEC waves in the auroral region.

The effect ofelectromechanical fields, i.e., polarization fields, on the efficiency droop of GaN-based light-emitting diodes is presented using both experimental and numerical analyses. The role of incorporating such polarization charge density in device performance is numerically investigated and further compared with the experimental results of internal quantum efficiency of three different devices in consideration.

The study aimed to shed light on the post deformation and damage behavior of an extruded Mg-Zn-Zr alloy under a ballistic *** results revealed that the initial microstructure consisted of both{0001}basal and{1010}prismatic fiber *** impact,adiabatic shear bands,pronounce different twinning in big grains,,,andtypes of dislocations,and grain refinement through twinning induce recrystallization accommodated the strain,and absorbed∼65.7%of the energy during impact carried by a soft steel ***,the deformation behavior at the top broad sides of the crater was entirely *** weak basal texture was changed to a strong prismatic texture,which was further proved by typical sigmoidal compressive stress-strain curves.A revised model for the development of the ultra-fine grains adjacent to the crater has been *** microhardness and yield strength was∼33%and∼40%higher and chiefly ascribed to strain hardening in ultra-fine grained near the surface of the perforation *** exit of the perforation path was severely damaged and forms onion-shaped concentric rings which were comprised of melted zones,dimples,and *** on the all interesting findings,this study can be a clue for the development of the lightweight Mg alloy for military and aerospace applications.
