Dear editor,site specific recombinases have been widely used for genome engineering in cardiovascular research(Fu et al., 2024;Huang et al., 2023; Xue et al., 2022). In particular, Cre is the most broadly used recombinase for cell type-specific lineage tracing and gene manipulation in mammals. For smooth muscle cell(sMC)-specific targeting, several sMC promoters including Myh11(smooth muscle myosin heavy chain), Acta2(smooth muscle a-2 actin), and sM22a(Tagln) have been used to drive Cre or CreER.

Herein,ionomer-free amorphous iridium oxide(IrO_(x))thin electrodes are first developed as highly active anodes for proton exchange membrane electrolyzer cells(PEMECs)via low-cost,environmentally friendly,and easily scalable electrodeposition at room *** with a Nafion 117 membrane,the IrO_(x)-integrated electrode with an ultralow loading of 0.075 mg cm^(-2)delivers a high cell efficiency of about 90%,achieving more than 96%catalyst savings and 42-fold higher catalyst utilization compared to commercial catalyst-coated membrane(2 mg cm^(-2)).Additionally,the IrO_(x)electrode demonstrates superior performance,higher catalyst utilization and significantly simplified fabrication with easy scalability compared with the most previously reported ***,the remarkable performance could be mainly due to the amorphous phase property,sufficient Ir^(3+)content,and rich surface hydroxide groups in ***,due to the high activity,high cell efficiency,an economical,greatly simplified and easily scalable fabrication process,and ultrahigh material utilization,the IrO_(x)electrode shows great potential to be applied in industry and accelerates the commercialization of PEMECs and renewable energy evolution.

Giving Food a Fiber Boost: Adding High Beta-Glucan Ingredient from Barley to Everyday Foods

Lack of dietary fiber contributes to many health issues, particularly chronic vascular diseases. Mixed linkage β-1.3 - 1.4 beta-glucan (beta-glucan, in this paper) is a confirmed beneficial ingredient for the human diet through reduction of cholesterol and the glycemic index. Barley contains the highest beta-glucan content of all the grains, and in this study, a percentage of flour from two high beta glucan lines was, each, added to an array of wheat-based food products to measure how it impacted total dietary fiber. Results showed that beta-glucan content was higher in all the products containing the added high beta-glucan flour, along with increased total dietary fiber content. Protein content in the food products is also increased with the higher protein in the barley flours added. Beta-glucan content in the barley-added products increased to 1.2% - 4.0% versus 0.2% - 0.5% in the pure wheat products, while the dietary fibers increased to 3.5% - 24.4% versus 2.1% - 9.1% in pure wheat product controls. This research provided experimental evidence that using a high beta-glucan barley ingredient in food can increase dietary fiber to benefit health.

在全球气候变化加剧的背景下,小麦(Triticum aestivum)产量与中国粮食安全密切相关,因此,基于小麦种子外部形态与内部成分的快速、无损检测对高通量鉴定其品质和活力意义重大。针对当前种子检测通量及准确性的限制,本研究通过多学科融合,结合多光谱成像、计算机视觉、自动化图像处理等技术,开发了一种通过多光谱图像从近百粒种子中快速提取单粒、并在单粒尺度完成外部形态(如种子面积、长度、宽度与圆度等)和内部物质成分(如植物色素、淀粉、植物油脂与水分含量等)量化分析的算法。针对所选的15个小麦品种,算法对1 347粒种子形态性状的分析结果与人工测量结果间的决定系数(R2)为面积0.900 (RMsE=1.504)、长度0.981 (RMsE=0.188)、宽度0.911 (RMsE=0.795);对513粒种子的六个关键光谱波段的R2为0.973、0.970、0.983、0.953、0.891、0.893;以上P值均小于0.005。在此基础上,通过形态与光谱性状的聚类和主成分分析,本研究还构建了区分不同品种小麦种子的分类方法,进而探索了重要种子农艺性状(如种子破损区域及种胚检测等)的自动鉴选算法,为种子活力和品质的高通量检测研究提供了新思路和新方法。

We report the confirmation of a sub-saturn-size exoplanet,TOI-1194 b,with a mass of about 0.456+0.055-0.051M_(J),and a very low mass companion star with a mass of about 96.5±1.5 MJ,TOI-1251 *** candidates provided by the Transiting Exoplanet survey satellite(TEss)are suitable for further follow-up observations by ground-based telescopes with small and medium *** analysis is performed based on data from several telescopes worldwide,including telescopes in the sino-German multiband photometric campaign,which aimed at confirming TEss Objects of Interest(TOIs)using ground-based small-aperture and medium-aperture telescopes,especially for long-period ***-1194 b is confirmed based on the consistent periodic transit depths from the multiband photometric *** measure an orbital period of 2.310644±0.000001 days,the radius is 0.767+0.045-0.041RJ and the amplitude of the RV curve is 69.4_(-7.3)^(+7.9)m s^(-1).TOI-1251 B is confirmed based on the multiband photometric and high-resolution spectroscopic data,whose orbital period is 5.963054+0.000002-0.000001days,radius is 0.947+0.035-0.033 R_(J) and amplitude of the RV curve is 9849_(-40)^(+42)ms^(-1).

A greenhouse experlment was performed In order to Investigate the effects of dlfferent levels of water stress on leaf water potentlal （ψw）, stomatal resistance （rs）, protein content and chlorophyll （Chl） content of tomato plants （Lycoperslcon esculentum Mill. cv. Nlkita）. Water stress was Induced by addlng polyethylene glycol （PEG 6 000） to the nutrlent solution to reduce the osmotlc potential （ψs）. We Investlgated the behavlor of antl-oxldant enzymes, such as catalase （CAT） and superoxide dlsmutase （sOD）, durlng the development of water stress. Moderate and severe water stress （i.e. ψs= -0.51 and -1.22 MPa, respectlvely） caused a decrease In ψw for all treated （water-stressed） plants compared with control plants, wlth the reductlon belng more pronounced for severely stressed plants. In addltion, rs was slgnlflcantly affected by the Induced water stress and a decrease in leaf soluble protelns and Chl content was observed. Whereas CAT actlvlty remained constant, sOD actlvlty was increased in water-stressed plants compared wlth unstressed plants. These results Indicate the possible role of sOD as an anti-oxidant protector system for plants under water stress condltlons. Moreover, It suggests the possibllity of using this enzyme as an addltional screening crlterlon for detecting water stress in plants.

The symptomatic degenerative meniscus continues to be a source of discomfort for a significant number of patients. With vascular penetration of less than onethird of the adult meniscus, healing potential in the setting of chronic degeneration remains low. Continued hoop and shear stresses upon the degenerative meniscus results in gross failure, often in the form of complex tears in the posterior horn and midbody. Patient history and physical examination are critical to determine the true source of pain, particularly with the significant incidence of simultaneous articular pathology. Joint line tenderness, a positive Mc Murray test, and mechanical catching or locking can be highly suggestive of a meniscal source of knee pain and dysfunction. Radiographs and magnetic resonance imaging are frequently utilized to examine for osteoarthritis and to verify the presence of meniscal tears, in addition to ruling out other sources of pain. Non-operative therapy focused on nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and physical therapy may be able to provide pain relief as well as improve mechanical function of the knee joint. For patients re-fractory to conservative therapy, arthroscopic partial meniscectomy can provide short-term gains regarding pain relief, especially when combined with an effective, regular physiotherapy program. Patients with clear mechanical symptoms and meniscal pathology may benefit from arthroscopic partial meniscectomy, but surgery is not a guaranteed success, especially with concomitant articular pathology. Ultimately, the long-term outcomes of either treatment arm provide similar results for most patients. Further study is needed regarding the short and long-term outcomes regarding conservative and surgical therapy, with a particular focus on the economic impact of treatment as well.
