ISSR markers based on GA and AG repeats reveal genetic relationship among rice varieties tolerant to drought,flood,or salinity

Drought, flood, salinity, or a combination of these limits rice production. Several rice varieties are well known for their tolerance to specific abiotic stresses. We determined genetic relationship among 12 rice varieties including 9 tolerant to drought, flood, or salinity using inter-simple sequence repeat （ISSR） markers. Based on all markers, the nine tolerant varieties formed one cluster distinct from the cluster of three control varieties. the salt-tolerant varieties were closest to two flood-tolerant varieties, and together they were distinct from the drought-tolerant varieties. （GA）8YG was the most informative primer, showing the highest polymorphic information content （PIC） and resolving power （Rp）. the drought-, flood-, and salt-tolerant varieties grouped in three distinct clusters within the group of tolerant varieties, when （GA）8YG was used. Sabita was the only exception. the two aus varieties, Nagina22 and FR13A, were separated and grouped with the drought- and flood-tolerant varieties, respectively, hut they were together in dendrograms based on other primers. the results show that ISSR markers associated with （GA）sYG delineated the three groups of stress-tolerant varieties from each other and can be used to identify genes/new alleles associated with the three abiotic stresses in rice germplasm.

Spectroscopic and fluorescence properties of Nd 3＋ ions in sodium fluoroborate（SFB） glasses were prepared and characterized through optical absorption,emission and decay *** energy level analysis was carried out using free-ion Hamiltonian *** oscillator strengths were determined by measuring the area encompassed by the absorption peaks recorded for 1.0 mol.% Nd 3＋-doped *** Judd-Ofelt parameters（2,4,6） were used to evaluate the laser characteristic parameters such as radiative transition probability（A R）,radiative decay time（τ R）,fluorescence branching ratio（β R） and stimulated emission cross-section（σ e） for the 4 F 3/2 metastable *** fluorescence spectra for different concentrations of Nd 3＋ ions were recorded by exciting the samples at 514.5 nm Ar ＋ ion laser.

AIM:to analyse the changes in magnitude and orientation of astigmatism after suture removal(SR)in keratoplasty eyes as measured by refraction,tomography,and ***:twenty-six eyes of 25 patients after optical keratoplasty requiring SR to reduce the astigmatism during the follow-up period were prospectively *** with poor quality topography scans or if there were no sutures in the steepest semi meridian were *** distance visual acuity(CDVA),manifest refraction,corneal tomography and aberrometr y were per formed on all patients before and after ***:the mean age of the patients was 40.8±14.4 *** keratoplasty was performed in 23 eyes(89%)and deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty was done in 3 eyes(11%).there was a statistically significant reduction in the magnitude of refractive,tomographic and aberrometry astigmatism after SR(Pt 2 h after suture *** mean net reduction of the astigmatism was greater as measured by corneal tomography compared to refractive astigmatism(Pthere was no statistically significant change in refractive astigmatism between 2 h and 2 mo after SR(P=0.55).Vector calculations demonstrated a greater amount of undercorrection in the tomography group and the rotational error was more towards counterclockwise *** monocular log MAR CDVA improved from 0.57 D to 0.49 D after SR(P=0.002).CONCLUSION:the net reduction in the magnitude of astigmatism after SR is greater in the tomography and aberrometry *** one episode of SR,there is no difference in the aberration profile.

Recently,the application of Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs)has been increasing *** requires privacy preserving data aggregation protocols to secure the data from *** privacy of the sensor data is a challenging *** paper presents a non-linear regression-based data aggregation protocol for preserving privacy of the sensor *** proposed protocol uses non-linear regression functions to represent the sensor data collected from the sensor *** of sending the complete data to the cluster head,the sensor nodes only send the coefficients of the non-linear *** will reduce the communication overhead of the *** data aggregation is performed on the masked coefficients and the sink node is able to retrieve the approximated results over the aggregated *** analysis of experiment results shows that the proposed protocol is able to minimize communication overhead,enhance data aggregation accuracy,and preserve data privacy.

Reductive amination of aromatic aldehydes using NaBH4 and isoxazole amines is carried out in a Bronsted acidic ionic liquid 1 -methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate [（HMIm）BF4]. the ionic liquid plays dual roles of solvent as well as catalyst for the efficixcellent yields without any undesired side product formation. the newly synthesized compoundsent transformation of aromatic aldehydes to heterocyclic substituted amines in e （3, 6 and 7） were characterized by IR, 1H NMR and mass spectral techniques.

Friction stir lap welds were produced in 3 mm thick Alclad sheets of Al alloy 2014-t4 using two different tools （with triangular and threaded taper cylindrical pins）. the effects of tool geometry on weld microstructure, lap-shear performance and failure mode were investigated. the pin profile was found to significantly influence the hook geometry, which in turn strongly influenced the joint strength and the failure mode. Welds produced in alloy 2014-t4 Alclad sheets by using triangular and threaded taper cylindrical tools exhibited an average lap-shear failure load of 16.5 and 19.5 kN, respectively, while the average failure load for standard riveted joints was only 3.4 kN. Welds produced in alloy 2014-t6 Alclad sheets and in alloy 2014-t4 bare sheets （i.e., no Alclad） were comparatively evaluated with those produced in alloy 2014-t4 Alclad sheets. While the welds made （with threaded taper cylindrical tool） in t6 and t4 conditions showed very similar lap-shear failure loads, the joint efficiency of the welds made in t6 condition （43%） was considerably lower （because of the higher base material strength） than those made in t4 condition （51%）. the Alclad layers were found to present no special problems in friction stir lap welding. Welds made with triangular tool in alloy 2014-t4 Alclad and bare sheets showed very similar lap-shear failure loads. the present work provides some useful insights into the use of friction stir welding for joining Al alloys in lap configuration.

the performance of a well-designed layer of sand, and composites like layer of sand mixed with shredded rubber tire (RSM) as low cost base isolators, is studied in shake table tests in the laboratory. the building foundation is modeled by a 200 mm by 200 mm and 40 mm thick rigid plexi-glass block. the block is placed in the middle of a 1m by 1m tank filled with sand. the selected base isolator is placed between the block and the sand foundation. Accelerometers are placed on top of the footing and foundation sand layer. the displacement of the footing is also measured by LVDt. the whole setup is mounted on a shake table and subjected to sinusoidal motions with varying amplitude and frequency. Sand is found to be effective only at very high amplitude (> 0.65 g) of motions. the performance of a composite consisting of sand and 50% shredded rubber tire placed under the footing is found to be most promising as a low-cost effective base isolator.
