Flow based Erosion e corrosion problems are very common in fluid handling equipments such as propellers, impellers, pumps in warships, submarine. Though there are many coating materials available to combat erosionecorrosion damage in the above components, iron based amorphous coatings are considered to be more effective to combat erosionecorrosion problems. High velocity oxy-fuel(HVOF)spray process is considered to be a better process to coat the iron based amorphous powders. In this investigation, iron based amorphous metallic coating was developed on 316 stainless steel substrate using HVOF spray technique. Empirical relationships were developed to predict the porosity and micro hardness of iron based amorphous coating incorporating HVOF spray parameters such as oxygen flow rate, fuel flow rate, powder feed rate, carrier gas flow rate, and spray distance. Response surface methodology(RSM) was used to identify the optimal HVOF spray parameters to attain coating with minimum porosity and maximum hardness.

The main problem faced in the plasma spraying is the selection of optimum combination of input variables for achieving the required qualities of *** problem can be solved by the development of relationship between the process parameters(input power,stand-off distance and powder feed rate) and the coating quality characteristics(porosity,) by response surface *** article highlights the use of response surface methodology by designing a three-factor five level central composite rotatable design matrix with full replication for planning,conduction,execution,and development of empirical *** coating was deposited on AZ31B magnesium alloy using atmospheric plasma spraying process by varying parameters such as power,stand-off distance and powder feed ***,response surface methodology was used for the selection of optimum plasma spraying parameters to achieve desired quality of alumina coating.

Plasma sprayed ceramic coatings are successfully used in many industrial applications,where high wear and corrosion resistance with thermal insulation are *** this work,empirical relationships were developed to predict the porosity and corrosion rate of alumina coatings by incorporating independently controllable atmospheric plasma spray operational parameters(input power,stand-off distance and powder feed rate)using response surface methodology(RSM).A central composite rotatable design with three factors and five levels was chosen to minimize the number of experimental *** the scope of the design space,the input power and the stand-off distance appeared to be the most significant two parameters affecting the responses among the three investigated process parameters.A linear regression relationship was also established between porosity and corrosion rate of the alumina ***,sensitivity analysis was carried out and compared with the relative impact of three process parameters on porosity level and corrosion rate to verify the measurement errors on the values of the uncertainty in estimated parameters.

Corrosion attack of aluminium and magnesium based alloys is a major issue *** corrosion degradation of an uncoated and atmospheric plasma sprayed alumina(APS)coatings on AZ31B magnesium alloy was investigated using immersion corrosion test in NaCl solutions of different chloride ion concentrations viz.,0.01 M,0.2 M,0.6 M and 1 *** corroded surface was characterized by an optical microscope and X-ray *** results showed that the corrosion deterioration of uncoated and coated samples were significantly influenced by chloride ion *** uncoated magnesium and alumina coatings were found to offer a superior corrosion resistance in lower chloride ion concentration NaCl solutions(0.01 M and 0.2 M NaCl).On the other hand the coatings and Mg alloy substrate were found to be highly susceptible to localized damage,and could not provide an effective corrosion protection in solutions containing higher chloride concentrations(0.6 M and 1 M).It was found that the corrosion resistance of the ceramic coatings and base metal gets deteriorated with the increase in the chloride concentrations.

This paper reports the comparative evaluation of the corrosion behaviour of AZ31B magnesium alloy under immersion and potentiodynamic polarization test in NaCl solution at different chloride ion concentrations,pH value and exposure *** specimens were exposed to immersion and polarization environments in order to evaluate their corrosion *** relationship was established to predict the corrosion rate of AZ31B magnesium *** factors,five level,central composite rotatable design matrix was used to minimize the number of experimental *** surface methodology was used to develop the *** developed relationship can be effectively used to predict the corrosion rate of AZ31B magnesium alloy at 95%confidence level for both the *** research work proves a better corrosion resistance of AZ31B magnesium alloy at the alkaline solution than the acidic and the neutral solutions,moreover,low corrosion rate was found at low concentrated solution and higher exposure time respectively.

The use of prefabricated vertical drains(PVD)in liquefiable deposits is gaining attention due to enhanced ***,investigations on PVD in mitigating re-liquefaction during repeated shaking events are not *** study performed a series of shaking table experiments on untreated and PVD-treated specimens prepared with 40%and 60%relative *** sinusoidal loading was applied with an incremental peak acceleration of 0.1g,0.2g,0.3g,and 0.4g,at 5 Hz shaking frequency with 40 s *** performance of treated ground was evaluated based on the generation and dissipation of excess pore water pressure(EPWP),induced sand densification,subsidence,and cyclic stress *** addition,the strain accumulated in fresh and exhumed PVD was investigated using geotextile tensile testing apparatus aided with digital image *** evidence of pore pressure was reported up to 0.2g peak acceleration for 40%and 60%relative density *** continuous occurrence of soil densification and drainage medium restrained and delayed the generation of EPWP and expedited the dissipation *** study demonstrates PVD can mitigate re-liquefaction,without suffering from deterioration,when subjected to medium to high intense repeated shaking events.

Catalyst,solvent and process parameters are the keys for the selective oxidation of styrene and other olefins to value added *** MnWO4was synthesized by the one-pot hydrothermal method using Pluronic F127 as a surfactant,characterized and evaluated for the oxidation of styrene and different olefins,using tert-butyl hydroperoxide（TBHP） as oxidant.X-ray diffractogram confirmed the phase purity of MnWO4which became further evident from the near surface equimolar proposition of Mn and W in+2 and+6 oxidation states,respectively,as inferred from X-ray photoelectron spectra.N2sorption followed type Ⅳa isotherm with H3 hysteresis loop,starting at the relative pressure（P/P_o） of 0.9,typically of mesoporous materials containing macropores as further confirmed by pore-size *** electron microscope images of MnWO4revealed its nanorod *** the absence of catalyst,styrene conversion was 35%with benzaldehyde as the sole product and addition of 75 g of MnWO4increased the styrene conversion to 97.3%,and the styrene oxide selectivity from 0% to 85% demonstrated its activity and *** the maximum conversion and styrene oxide selectivity optimum temperature,styrene:TBHP molar ratio,catalyst amount and solvent were found to be 70 ℃,1:2,75 mg,and acetonitrile,***4catalyst retained its activity and selectivity for five recycles,confirming its recoverability and *** the kinetic studies,pre-exponential factor and apparent activation energy were found to be 0.206 s-1and 31.5 kJ·mol-1,respectively,and a reaction mechanism was ***4catalyst was active for oxidation of alkenes,cycloolefins and alkenyl aromatics with high selectivity for epoxides.

In this study,we aimed to synthesise and evaluate the antimicrobial activity of sulphanilamide-condensed pyrimidine *** compounds were synthesised using a one-pot,three-component *** structures of the synthesised compounds were confirmed using spectroscopic techniques such as FT-IR,1H NMR,mass spectrometry,and elemental *** antibacterial activity of all the synthesised compounds was tested against Escherichia coli(***)and Bacillus subtilis(***),two types of Gram-positive *** thiamine-pyrophosphate riboswitch *** and the purine riboswitch *** were chosen as targets to determine how compounds bind to *** molecular docking data showed that compound 6f bound well and had the lowest binding energy in the active site areas of both *** was in line with the tests done in *** majority of the compounds have been demonstrated to be antibacterial.
