Stable silver nanoparticles were synthesized using polyvinyl alcohol （PVA） as reducing and capping agent. The method of steric stabilization was adopted for the incorporation of silver nanoparticles in the polymer matrix. The successful incorporation of silver nanoparticles in a PVA matrix was confirmed by UV–Visible spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy （TEM） and Fourier transform infrared （FT-IR） spectroscopy. The synthesized silver nanoparticles were characterized by a peak at 426 nm in the UV–Vis spectrum. TEM studies showed the formation of spherical shaped silver nanoparticles of 10-13 nm, following the reduction by UV irradiation. Catalytic properties were studied by means of UV-Visible spectroscopic analysis. The synthesized silver nanoparticles exhibited good catalytic properties in the reduction of methylene blue.

We isolated the essential oils from Boswellia ovalifoliolata *** and *** using hydrodistillation,identified the obtained compounds using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry(GC–MS) and Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),and studied the photophysical and electrochemical properties using UV–visible and fluorescence spectroscopy and cyclic *** the basis of GC–MS spectra,38 compounds were identified in the essential oil from leaves and 26 in the oil from *** bark oil contained 13.44% b-Farnesene(sesquiterpene),10.45% caryophyllene oxide(sesquiterpene) and 6.6% spathulenol,(2 Z,6 E)-(sesquiterpene alcohol); the leaf oil contained 11.1% spathulenol(sesquiterpene alcohol),9.0% caryophyllene oxide(sesquiterpenoids) and 6.3% decyl acetate(ester).FT-IR spectra confirmed the presence of aliphatic aldehydes and ketones,carboxylic acid,alcohols,esters and ethers in both oil ***–visible absorption spectra showed maximum absorbance at 245,290 and 402 nm for bark oil,and 250,285 and 325 nm for *** oil showed strong emission with maximum emission wavelength at 456 nm was higher than that of leaf oil at 414 *** essential oil had significant anti-inflammatory activity,and the reduction potential of the leaf oil was-0.44 and-0.56 e V for bark.

Large-scale slope destabilization could be aggravated due to swift urbanization and ever-rising demands of geoengineering projects such as dams,tunnels,bridges and widening *** Highway-58 connects Delhi to Badrinath in India,which passes through complex geomorphological and geological terrain and often encounters cut slopes susceptible to slope *** the present investigation,a detailed geotechnical appraisal is conducted along the road cut slopes from Rishikesh to Devprayag in the *** vulnerable road cut slopes were demarcated for detailed slope stability analysis using Phase2D finite element modeling *** generalized Hoek-Brown(GHB)criterion was adopted for stability *** of 20 slopes,five slopes(S6,S7,S18,S19 and S20)are unstable with factor of safety(FoS)less than or equal to 1,and thus needs immediate *** FoS values of four slopes(S2,S9,S13 and S17)lie between 1 and 1.3,*** stable,and slopes S1,S3,S4,S5,S8,S10,Sll,S12,S14,S15 and S16 are ***-Coulomb(MC)criterion was also adopted to compare the slope stability analysis with GHB *** FoS calculated from GHB criterion is close to that using MC criterion for lower values of FoS whereas for higher values,the difference is *** the jointed rock in the Himalayan region,the nonlinear GHB criterion gives better results as compared to MC criterion and matches with the prevailing field ***,some suggestions are proposed to strengthen the stability of cut slopes.

Ganga river basins exposed to active erosional and deformational processes. The recurrence of landslides, floods, and seismic activities makes it more susceptible to deformational activities. The tectonic analysis using geomorphic indices and morphometric parameters will help in determining the hazard-prone area of the river basin. Geomorphic indices and morphometric parameters are calculated to investigate the role of neotectonic activities, as it acts as a controlling factor in the development of landforms in the tectonically active terrains. Neotectonic activities influence the terrain topography, which significantly affects the drainage system and geomorphological setup of the area. In this study, the assessment of active tectonics of study area was determined using Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer(ASTER) Global Digital Elevation Model(GDEM) based on Geomorphic Indices(Stream Length Gradient index, Hypsometric integral, Asymmetry factor, Basin shape, Valley floor width to Valley height ratio, Mountain front sinuosity index) cumulatively with Linear, Areal and Relief morphometric parameters on 27 delineated basins of the study area. The combined classification of Relative Tectonic Activity Index(Iat) and morphometric parameters of 27 basins categorized all the zones into four different classes:Class 1 – Very High(km^2);Class 2 – High(1.97 – 2.05;275 km^2);Class 3 – Moderate(2.05 – 2.21;273 km^2),and Class 4 – Low(>2.21;299 km^2). The basins with tectonic activities have a consistent relationship with structural disturbances, basin geometry, and field studies. The tectonically active zonation of a part of Ganga basin using geomorphic indices and morphometric parameters suggest that it has significant influence of neotectonic activities in a part of Ganga basin.

A paleosol horizon is described from the contact of the Sausar Group（w2400 Ma） and its basement（Tirodi Gneiss; 〉2500 Ma） in Central India. Physical evidence of pedogenesis is marked by the development of stress corrosion cracks, soil peds, corestone weathering and nodular rocks. XRD and SEM-EDX data indicate the presence of siderite, ankerite, uraninite, chlorite, alumino-silicate minerals, ilmenite,rutile and magnetite, in addition to quartz, feldspar and mica. The chemical index of alteration, the plagioclase index of alteration, and the chemical index of weathering show an increasing trend from parent rock to the paleosol and indicate a moderate trend of weathering. The A-CN-k plot indicates loss of feldspars, enrichment in Al2O3 and formation of illite. Different major element ratios indicate baseloss through hydrolysis, clay formation, leaching of some elements, and more precipitation with good surface drainage. The paleosol is depleted in HREE in comparison to the parent rock indicating high fluid-rock interaction during weathering. The paleosol samples show flat Ce and Eu anomalies, low SREE, and high（La/Yb）N, indicative of a reducing environment of formation. Reducing condition can also be inferred from the concentration of elements such as V, Co, Cu, Pb, and Zn in the paleosol profile. Although enriched in Fe and Mg, the overall geochemical patterns of the paleosol indicate oxygen deficient conditions in the atmosphere and development by weathering and leaching processes associated with high precipitation and good surface drainage at the time of development of this paleosol during the Archeane Paleoproterozoic transition.

Excessive exploitation,negligence,non-degradable nature,and physical and chemical properties of plastic waste have resulted in a massive pollution load into the ***,plastic entres the food chain and can cause serious health issues in aquatic animals and *** present review summarizes currently reported techniques and approaches for the removal of plastic *** techniques,such as adsorption,coagulation,photocatalysis,and microbial degradation,and approaches like reduction,reuse and recycling are potentially in trend and differ from each other in their efficiency and interaction ***,substantial advantages and challenges associated with these techniques and approaches are highlighted to develop an understanding of the selection of possible ways for a sustainable ***,in addition to the reduction of plastic waste from the ecosystem,many alternative opportunities have also been explored to cash plastic *** fields include the synthesis of adsorbents for the removal of pollutants from aqueous and gaseous stream,their utility in clothing,waste to energy and fuel and in construction(road making).Substantial evidence can be observed in the reduction of plastic pollution from various *** addition,it is important to develop an understanding of factors that need to be emphasized while considering alternative approaches and opportunities to cash plastic waste(like adsorbent,clothing,waste to energy and fuel).The thrust of this review is to provide readers with a comprehensive overview of the development status of techniques and approaches to overcome the global issue of plastic pollution and the outlook on the exploitation of this waste as resources.

This study emphasizes on the evaluation and comparison of the anticorrosive properties of sol-gel coatings with and without inhibitor loaded *** this case,naturally available clay nanotubes(halloysite)were loaded with cationic corrosion inhibitors Ce 3+/Zr 4+.These nanocontainers were dispersed in hybrid organic-inorganic sol-gel matrix *** was applied on magnesium alloy AZ91D using the sols containing modified and unmodified nanocontainers employing the dip coating method and cured at 130℃for 1 h in *** resistance of coated/uncoated substrates were analyzed using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy,potentiodynamic polarization and weight loss measurements after exposure to 3.5 wt%NaCl solution for varying time durations between 24 h to 120 ***-healing ability of coatings was evaluated by micro-Raman spectroscopy after 120 h exposure to 3.5 wt%NaCl *** generated after dispersion of corrosion inhibitor loaded clay in hybrid sol-gel matrix have shown more promising corrosion resistance when compared to just the sol-gel matrix coatings,after prolonged exposure to corrosive environment.

Objective: We devised a “Smoking-Cessation Motivation Program” as a community welfare service aimed at making short-term improvements in social nicotine dependence and enhancing the willingness to stop smoking among people with mental disorders. Method: The study conducted a controlled trial to empirically examine the effects of the program on the willingness to stop smoking and social nicotine dependence among 26 smokers with mental disorders in the intervention group, who were compared with a control group of 16 individuals. Results: Results demonstrated the program’s effectiveness in reducing social nicotine dependence, and a variance analysis with age as the covariate evidenced a mutual interaction between social nicotine dependence and the willingness to stop smoking, confidence to stop smoking, and resisting the temptation to smoke. Conclusion: Future studies should examine longer-term program results, the impact of program duration, and other factors that influence the program’s effectiveness.

The present work focuses on experimental and numerical investigations of the augmentation of turbulent flow heat transfer in a horizontal circular tube by means of mesh inserts with air as the working fluid. Sixteen types of mesh inserts with screen diameters of 22 mm, 18 mm, 14 mm and 10 mm for varying distance between the screens of 50 mm, 100 mm, 150 mm and 200 mm in the porosity range of 99.73 to 99.98 were considered for experimentation. The horizontal tube was subjected to constant and uniform heat flux. The Reynolds number varied from 7,000 to 14,000. The results are compared with the clear flow case when no porous material was used. Computational fluid dynamics （CFD） techniques were also employed to perform optimization analysis of the mesh inserts. The horizontal tube along with mesh inserts was modeled in Gambit 2.2.30 with fine meshing and analyzed using FLUENT 6.2.16. CFD analysis was performed initially for plain tube and the results are compared with experimental values for validation.

This paper presents a study on near cathode space charge region in BETA (Basic Experiments in Toroidal Assembly), a toroidal plasma device with purely toroidal magnetic field. A charge cylinder has been found to be embedded in the plasma center corresponding to the hot filament cathode location in poloidal cross section. This charge cylinder has been created by the primary electrons emitted from the filament surface, which in turn, leads to the formation of a potential well in the core plasma. We have proposed a model, which shows that a tiny fraction of injected energetic electrons is sufficient to sustain the observed potential well. We have examined the equilibrium of the charge cylinder in poloidal cross-section and found that it exhibits equilibrium configuration by forming circulation pattern of primary electrons. The circulation pattern is formed by vertical drift due to toroidal magnetic field and self-consistent poloidal E×B drift. We have concluded that the self-consistency is in adjusting the poloidal drift to the vertical drift of the trapped primary electrons.
