Atrial fibrillation （AF） is frequently associated with rheumatic valvular heart disease （RVHD）. AF leads to systemic thromboembolic complications, reduced quality of life （QOL）, impaired ventricular function and also increased mortality. Multivariate analysis of results from a population-based study has shown that valvular heart disease is one of risk factors for development of AF.1 The frequency of RVHD has decreased in developed countries in recent years, but RVHD now constitutes a significant population for the cardiology services in developing countries.

Let X be a non-elementary Riemann surface of type(g,n),where g is the number of genus and n is the number of punctures with 3g-3+n>*** T(X)be the Teichmller space of *** constructing a certain subset E of T(X),we show that the convex hull of E with respect to the Teichmller metric,the Carathodory metric and the Weil-Petersson metric is not in any thick part of the Teichmler space,*** implies that convex hulls of thick part of Teichmller space with respect to these metrics are not always in thick part of Teichmller space,as well as the facts that thick part of Teichmller space is not always convex with respect to these metrics.

Complexation of the planar multidentate ligand 3,5-bis-(2-hydroxyphenyl)pyrazole (H 3 L) with manganese chloride leads to the formation of the polynuclear complex [Mn Ⅲ 8 L 4 O 4 (MeO) 4 (MeOH) 8 ] (1). 1 has an octanuclear macrocyclic core in which the MnⅢ ions are bridged by four L molecules to form a ring type structure. Antiferromagnetic interactions were shown to be operative between metal centers.

Short and long-term outcomes of endoscopic balloon dilatation for Crohn's disease strictures

AIM:To investigate the short and long-term outcomes of endoscopic balloon dilatation(EBD) for Crohn's disease(CD) ***:Between January 1995 and December 2011,47 EBD procedures were performed in 30 patients(8 females and 22 males) with *** patients had strictures through which an endoscope could not pass,and symptoms of these strictures included abdominal pain,abdominal fullness,nausea,and/or *** 47 strictures included 17 anastomotic and 30 de novo *** and dilatation were performed under conscious sedation with intravenous diazepam or *** dilatations were all performed using through-the-scope balloons with diameters from 8 mm to 20 mm on inflation and lengths of 30-80 *** dilatation session consisted of two to four,3-min multistep inflations of the balloon,repeated at intervals of 1 wk until adequate dilatation(up to 15-20 mm in diameter) was *** follow-up data were collected from medical records and analyzed *** success was defined as passage of the scope through the stricture after *** outcomes were analyzed focusing on interventionfree survival and surgery-free survival demonstrated by the kaplan-Meier method.(Intervention-free meant cases in which neither endoscopic balloon re-dilatation nor surgery was needed after the first dilatation during the observation period).The log rank test was used to evaluate the difference in long-term outcomes between anastomotic and de novo stricture ***:Primary success was achieved in 44 of the 47 strictures(93.6%).Balloon dilatations failed in 3 cases(6.4%).In 1 case,EBD was a technical failure because the guide-wire could not be passed through the stricture which showed severe adhesion and was a flexural lesion of the *** 2 cases,unexpected perforations occurred immediately after balloon *** the 47 treatments,complications occurred in 5(10.6%).All 5 patients had de novo *** suffered bleeding

This paper presents studies of spray characteristics and controlling mechanism of fuel containing CO2. Using diesel fuel containing CO2 gas, experiments were conducted on diesel hole-type nozzles and simple nozzles. The steady spray and transient spray characteristics were observed and measured by instantaneous shadowgraphy, high-speed photography, phase Doppler anemometry （PDA） and LDSA respectively. The effects of CO2 concentration in the fuel, the injection pressure, the nozzle L/D ratio, surrounding gas pressure and temperature on the atomization behavior and spray pattern were evaluated. The results show that the injection of fuel containing CO2 can greatly improve the atomization and produce a parabolic-shaped spray; and the CO2 gas concentration, surrounding gas pressure, temperature and nozzle config- uration have dominant influences on spray characteristics of the fuel containing CO2. New insight into the controlling mechanism of atomization of the fuel containing CO2 was provided.

Monoclonal antibodies against epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR) are used in the treatment of advanced colorectal cancer. However, these agents can induce severe dermatological side effects that discourage their administration in patients with chronic dermatological disease. EGFR plays a key role in normal skin development and immunological function, and is expressed in various tissues and organs, although contrarily, it is overexpressed in psoriasis-related skin lesions. Thus, discussion is ongoing regarding the putative pathological role and therapeutic potential of this protein. We herein report on a patient with advanced colon cancer and concomitant long-standing psoriasis vulgaris who received antiEGFR antibody monotherapy as a third-line treatment for metastatic disease. One week after the initiation of treatment, the patient's skin lesions dramatically subsided and the improvement was sustained during therapy. Based on this case, we propose that anti-EGFR antibody therapy is not necessarily contraindicated in patients with psoriasis vulgaris. Moreover, the findings reaffirmed that EGFR is an important molecule in the pathology of psoriasis.
