Antimicrobial agents such as bavistin, cefotaxime and kanamycin were evaluated for their effects on the rapid shoot regeneration from nodal explants of Centella asiatica (L.). Filter sterilized bavistin (250 mg/L) was augmented alone and in combination with cytokinins such as BAP and TDZ into the media to trace the effect on regeneration. On this basis, the potential use of bavistin (150 mg/L) along with BAP (2.0 mg/L) was evaluated which showed the maximum shoot number (6.6) and shoot length (4.4 cm) respectively. Cefotaxime at the concentration of 100 μM/L was found to be effective to obtain the maximum shoot number formation (5.8) with the regeneration frequency (90%). kanamycin at the concentration of 80 μM/L induced maximum shoot regeneration (5.12). kanamycin at 100 μM/L or at higher concentrations reduced the shoot regeneration. The best rooting response was noticed when in vitro regenerated microshoots were transferred to the rooting medim which was supplemented with IBA (2.0 mg/L). This combination generates 90% of regeneration frequency and maximum number of roots per shoot (14.2) and high root length (4.2 cm). The rooted plants were acclimatized and transferred to field for survivalance. The addition of antibiotics was found to be more effective and safer for using since their effects on regeneration were found to be negligible.

Right coronary artery (RCA) communicating to coronary sinus (CS) resulting in aneurysmal dilatation of RCA is a rare congenital anomaly, usually presenting late with complication of left to right shunt and volume overload. We report a case of a 53 years old female presenting with dyspnea on exertion, orthopnea and angina. Echocardiography and computed tomography are suggestive of a fistulous communication of RCA to CS with aneurysm of RCA. Patient was treated surgically and is asymptomatic after three years of follow up.

This paper investigates the chemical reaction and thermal radiation effects on unsteady MHD free convective flow past a vertical porous plate in the presence of heat absorption/*** novelty of present investigation is that the temperature and concentration of the plate are span wise cosinusoidally unsteady with *** second order perturbation technique is employed to study the non-linear partial differential equations which govern the fluid *** effects of magnetic parameter,radiation,Eckert number,Schmidt number and chemical reaction parameters on velocity,temperature and concentration distributions as well as skin friction coefficients,the rate of heat transfer and the rate of mass transfer are discussed through figures and *** is noticed that the Nusselt number declines with rising values of Prandtl and Eckert numbers.

In this present study, the effect of various carbon sources such as sucrose, glucose, fructose and maltose was investigated on in vitro shoot regeneration of Solanum viarum using axillary bud explants. The frequency, growth and multiplication rate were highly influenced by the type and concentration of carbon source used. Among the different concentrations (1%-6%) of carbohydrates studied, the maximum number of shoots (22.6 ± 0.50) and shoot length (5.92 ± 0.13 cm) was obtained on MS medium supplemented with 4% (w/v) fructose. The least number of shoots (1.5 ± 0.32) was obtained on 6% maltose and the least shoot length (1.2 ± 0.23) was observed on 6% glucose. Among the four types of carbon sources that were employed in the present study, fructose at 4% proved to be better choice for multiple shoot regeneration followed by sucrose, glucose and maltose from axillary bud explants of S. viarum.

The reversible effect of microwave mediated denaturation of protein at low exposure time of 10 s has been demonstrated for the first time. The effect of microwave (2.45 GHz and 900 W) was confirmed in a homo-octameric alcohol oxidase in aqueous solution of pH 7.5. The unfolding events did not transverse through any intermediate states and no subunits of the protein were detached during the process. The refolding of the protein achieved at 4℃ for 24 h had regenerated the native enzyme. This reversible refolding approach excludes any chemical reagent and therefore established as simple technique for protein unfolding-folding studies.

Strain Rate Effects on Tensile Properties of HDPE-PP Composite Prepared by Extrusion and Injection Moulding Method

The present paper investigates the effect of strain rate on different tensile properties of high density polyethylene (HDPE) and polypropylene (PP) composite. Tensile specimens of virgin HDPE-PP composites are prepared via twin screw extruder and injection moulding methods as per ASTM D638-02a (Type-I);with gage length 50 mm, width 13 mm and thickness 3 mm. Composites are fabricated with PP as reinforcing agent at a loading rate of 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% by weight. Experiments are carried out at room temperature of 23°C and absolute humidity of 54% at a cross head speed of 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 mm/min. Stress and strain values at yield and break points are reported. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) is used to study the distribution of polymer molecules in the mixture and surface roughness. As in last, experiments are designed by Taguchi optimization method to find out the dominating factors on tensile strength.

AIM: 1) To study the participation of Focal Adhesion kinase (FAk) in regulation of Breast Cancer cell migration in relation with MMP-9 and other signaling proteins. 2) To study the effect of some natural products on FAk. METHODS: Cell culture, Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation, Immunocytochemistry, Zymography, SiRNA transfection, RT-PCR, Real-Time PCR. RESULTS: For our study on FAk, we selected invasive Breast Cancer cell line MDA-MB-231 and treated the cells with Fibronectin (FN). Treatment of FN was found to increase FAk expression, phosphorylation (Tyr 397). FAk was found to be involved in re- gulation of breast cancer cell migration and MMP-9 expression, activity. Fi-bronectin increases association of FAk with integrin α5β1, Paxillin, Actin, ERk, PI3k and localization at Focal Adhesion sites. FAk was found to be involved in modulation of ERk and PI3k phosphorylation. Moreover, FAk signal was found to be transduced through ERk and PI3k, which modulate MMP-9 and thereby cell migration. CONCLUSION: FAk expression, phosphorylation and processing are induced in response to Cell-ECM interactions. Integrin α5β1 is involved in FN induced FAk phosphorylation. FAk is a potent regulator of MMP-9 expression and activity. FAk is involved in regulation of ERk and PI3k phosphorylation. ERk and PI3k are involved in FAk regulated MMP-9 expression & activity. FAk regulates MMP-9 expression and activity and thereby migration of human breast cancer cell. By the regulation of FAk, cell attachment and migration may be regulated by Curcumin, ATRA or EGCG treatment. It may be concluded that invasive potential of breast cancer cells may be modulated by regulation of FAk.

Now a day’s accidents are very common due to increased population of vehicle. In order to ensure safety measures in the vehicle this paper has proposed some methodologies regarding careful driving by automatically scanning and analyzing the blind spot area of an intelligent mobile vehicle. A vehicular antenna with minimum perturbation is proposed to be fitted on the vehicle and collect information of the concern area which would ensure visibility of the operator i.e. masked or integrated within the car body. This paper has dealt with the design of Tchebyscheff polynomial based prototype planar microstrip phased array antenna and also redesigned the same when implemented in the body of the car being considered as an electromagnetically large element. Both the design has been experimentally verified with the measurement. The simulated and the measured results in both the cases are found to be in good agreement. More than 11 dB gain was observed at perfectly 30° angles from its broad side direction as desired for blind spot detection with minimum amount of electromagnetic interference inside the car.
