Observation of free oscillations after the 2010 Chile and 2011 Japan earthquakes by superconducting gravimeter in kutch,Gujarat,India

In this paper,we present observations of free oscillations of the Earth after major earthquakes in Chile(February 27,2010,Mw8.8)and Japan(March 11,2011,Mw9.1)using data from the dual-sphere superconducting gravimeter(SG-055),installed at Badargadh(23°0.47 N,70°0.62 E),kutch,Gujarat,India in March *** see the noise characteristics,we calculated the power spectral density of the gravity time series of 5 quiet days in the frequency band 0.05-20 mHz using the new low noise model(NLNM)as a *** compared the noise level of the Badargadh site to other SG sites around the *** shows that the Badargadh SG is in a low noise *** find that the noise increases at frequencies below 1 *** a characteristic is also observed in Djougou(Afrique,Benin)and Strasbourg(France).Using theoretical tides for Gujarat,we estimated a scale factor of about-814 nm/s~2/V for Gravl(lowersphere)and about-775 nm/s~2/V for Grav2(upper-sphere).We corrected the influence of atmospheric pressure from the one-second gravity data before switching to the frequency *** extracted a total of 53 Earth’s Free Oscillations(EFO)modes during the earthquake in Japan and about 47 EFO modes during the earthquake in *** are able to extract the lowest0S2spheroidal mode(0.30945 mHz or54 min)and0S0radial mode(0.81439 mHz or 20 min).The longer time series shows individual0S2singlets and0S3(0.46855 mHz)singlets due to the Coriolis splitting *** cross-referenced the frequencies of these modes using the PREM model and previous global *** correlation coefficient between the observed and the PREM model for these two events are 0.999 for Japan earthquake and 0.993 for Chile *** validates the quality of the data useful for low-frequency studies in *** also calculated the relative deviations of our observed fundamental modes with previously determined observed and theoretical *** found that the relative deviations of our observed free oscillations

Demand response based congestion management in a mix of pool and bilateral electricity market model

The independent system operator （ISO） is a key element in the deregulated structure with one of the responsibilities of transmission congestion management （CM）. The ISO opts market based solutions to manage congestion receiving bids from generation companies （GENCOs） as well as distribution companies （DISCOMs） to reschedule their generation and relocate demand. The nodal prices increases during the congestion hours and the demand response to nodal prices will be an effective tool for the control of congestion. In this paper, demand response-based CM has been proposed for a mix of pool and bilateral electricity market model. The linear bid curves have been considered for demand bids to respond to the congestion in the network. The bilateral demand has been obtained with minimum deviations in their preferred schedule. The impact of flexible alternating current transmission system （FACTS） devices viz static var compensator （SVC） and thyristor controlled series compensator （TCSC） has also been considered for demand management during congestion. Multi-line congestion cases have been considered to study the impact on demand response without and with FACTS devices. The proposed approach has been tested on the IEEE 24 bus test system.

PTOX Mediates Novel Pathways of Electron rransport in Etioplasts of Arabidopsis

The immutans （im） variegation mutant of Arabidopsis defines the gene for PTOX （plastid terminal oxidase）, a versatile plastoquinol oxidase in chloroplast membranes. In this report we used im to gain insight into the function of PTOX in etioplasts of dark-grown seedlings. We discovered that PTOX helps control the redox state of the plastoquinone （PQ） pool in these organelles, and that it plays an essential role in etioplast metabolism by participating in the desaturation reactions of carotenogenesis and in one or more redox pathways mediated by PGR5 （PROTON GRADIENT REGULATION 5） and NDH （NAD（P）H dehydrogenase）, both of which are central players in cyclic electron transport. We propose that these elements couple PTOX with electron flow from NAD（P）H to oxygen, and by analogy to chlororespiration （in chloroplasts） and chromorespiration （in chromoplasts）, we suggest that they define a respiratory process in etioplasts that we have termed ＂etiorespiration＂. We further show that the redox state of the PQ pool in etioplasts might control chlorophyll biosynthesis, perhaps by participating in mechanisms of retrograde （plastid- to-nucleus） signaling that coordinate biosynthetic and photoprotective activities required to poise the etioplast for light development. We conclude that PTOX is an important component of metabolism and redox sensing in etioplasts.

Due to the mobility of users in an organization,inclusion of dynamic attributes such as time and location becomes the major challenge in Ciphertext-Policy Attribute-Based Encryption(CP-ABE).By considering this challenge;we focus to present dynamic time and location information in CP-ABE with ***ﬁrst,along with the set of attributes of the users,their corre-sponding location is also *** is used to encode the latitude and longitude of the user’s ***,decrypt time period and access time period of users are deﬁned using the new time tree(NTT)*** NTT sets the encrypted duration of the encrypted data and the valid access time of the private key on the data user’s private ***,single authorization of attribute authority(AA)is extended as multi authorization for enhancing the effectiveness of key *** results depict that the proposed CP-ABE achieves better encryption time,decryption time,security level and memory ***,encryption time and decryption time of the proposed CP-ABE are reduced to 19%and 16%than that of existing CP-ABE scheme.

Oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is the key step involved both in water splitting devices and rechargeable metal-air batteries,and hence,there is an urgent need for a stable and low-cost material for efficient *** the present investigation,Co-Fe-Ga-NiZn(CFGNZ)high entropy alloy(HEA)has been utilized as a low-cost electrocatalyst for ***,after cyclic voltammetry activation,CFGNZ-nanoparticles(NPs)are covered with oxidized surface and form high entropy(oxy)hydroxides(HEOs),exhibiting a low overpotential of 370 mV to achieve a current density of 10 mA/cm^(2)with a small Tafel slope of 71 mV/*** alloy has higher electrochemical stability in comparison to state-of-the art RuO2 electrocatalyst as no degradation has been observed up to 10 h of *** electron microscopy(TEM)studies after 10 h of long-term chronoamperometry test showed no change in the crystal structure,which confirmed the high stability of *** density functional theory(DFT)based calculations show that the closeness of d(p)-band centers to the Fermi level(EF)plays a major role in determining active *** work highlights the tremendous potential of CFGNZ HEA for OER,which is the primary reaction involved in water splitting.

Identification of Protein-Coding Regions in DNA Sequences Using A Time-Frequency Filtering Approach

Accurate identification of protein-coding regions （exons） in DNA sequences has been a challenging task in bioinformatics. Particularly the coding regions have a 3-base periodicity, which forms the basis of all exon identifica- tion methods. Many signal processing tools and techniques have been applied successfully for the identification task but still improvement in this direction is needed. In this paper, we have introduced a new promising model-independent time-frequency filtering technique based on S-transform for accurate identification of the coding regions. The S-transform is a powerful linear time-frequency representation useful for filtering in time-frequency domain. The potential of the proposed technique has been assessed through simulation study and the results obtained have been compared with the existing methods using standard datasets. The comparative study demonstrates that the proposed method outperforms its counterparts in identifying the coding regions.

An empirical method for estimating surface area of aggregates in hot mix asphalt

Bitumen requirement in hot mix asphalt （HMA） is directly dependent on the surface area of the aggregates in the mix, which in turn has effect on the asphalt film thickness and the flow characteristics. The surface area of aggregate blend in HMA is calculated using the specific surface area factors assigned to percentage passing through some specific standard sieve sizes and the imaging techniques. The first process is less capital intensive, but purely manual and labour intensive and prone to human errors. Imaging techniques though eliminating the human errors, still have limited use due to capital intensiveness and requirement of well-established ]aboratories with qualified technicians. Most of the developing countries like India are shortage of well-equipped laboratories and qualified technicians. To overcome these difficulties, the present mathematical model has been developed to estimate the surface area of aggregate blend of HMA from physical properties of aggregates evaluated using simple laboratory equipment. This model has been validated compared with the existing established methods of calculations and can be used as one of the tools in different developing and under developed countries for proper design of HMA.

Injectable Hyaluronic Acid/Poly(γ-glutamic acid) Hydrogel with Step-by-step Tunable Properties for Soft Tissue Engineering

Injectable hydrogels as an important class of biomaterials have gained much attention in tissue engineering. However, their crosslinking degree is difficult to be controlled after being injected into body. As we all know, the crosslinking degree strongly influences the physicochemical properties of hydrogels. Therefore, developing an injectable hydrogel with tunable crosslinking degree in vivo is important for tissue engineering. Herein, we present a dual crosslinking strategy to prepare injectable hydrogels with step-by-step tunable crosslinking degree using Schiff base reaction and photopolymerization. The developed hyaluronic acid/poly(γ-glutamic acid)(HA/γ-PGA) hydrogels exhibit step-bystep tunable swelling behavior, enzymatic degradation behavior and mechanical properties. Mechanical performance tests show that the storage moduli of HA/γ-PGA hydrogels are all less than 2000 Pa and the compressive moduli are in kilopascal, which have a good match with soft tissue. In addition, NIH 3 T3 cells encapsulated in HA/γ-PGA hydrogel exhibit a high cell viability, indicating a good cytocompatibility of HA/γ-PGA ***, the developed HA/γ-PGA hydrogel as an injectable biomaterial has a good potential in soft tissue engineering.

A theoretical study on the elastic deformation of cellular phase and creation of necrosis due to the convection reaction process inside a spherical tumor

Several biological processes, such as convective nutrient transport and convective drug delivery in biological tissues involves the transvascular and interstitial movement of biofluids. This work addresses transvascular and interstitial transport of nutrient inside a spherical tumor. Most of the biological tissues behave like deformable porous materiM and show mechanical behavior towards the fluid motion, due to the fact, that the forces like the drag, which is associated with fluid flow may compress the tissue material. On the macroscopic level, transport of solutes like nutrients, drug molecules, etc. within the tumor interstitial space is modeled. The hydrodynamic problem is treated with biphasic mixture theory under steady state and spherically symmetry situation. The transvascular transport of nutrient is modeled with the modified Sterling＇s equation. The present model describes the overall nutrient distribution and predicts various criteria for the necrosis formation inside the tumor. Present study justifies that the parameters, which controls the nutrient supply to the tumor interstitial space through the blood vessel network inside the tumor, competes with reversible nutrient consumption kinetics of the tumor cells. This study also finds the role of some of those parameters on the deformation of cellular phase of the tumor as a consequence of interstitial fluid flow.
