This study emphasizes on the evaluation and comparison of the anticorrosive properties of sol-gel coatings with and without inhibitor loaded *** this case,naturally available clay nanotubes(halloysite)were loaded with cationic corrosion inhibitors ce 3+/Zr 4+.These nanocontainers were dispersed in hybrid organic-inorganic sol-gel matrix *** was applied on magnesium alloy AZ91D using the sols containing modified and unmodified nanocontainers employing the dip coating method and cured at 130℃for 1 h in *** resistance of coated/uncoated substrates were analyzed using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy,potentiodynamic polarization and weight loss measurements after exposure to 3.5 wt%Nacl solution for varying time durations between 24 h to 120 ***-healing ability of coatings was evaluated by micro-raman spectroscopy after 120 h exposure to 3.5 wt%Nacl *** generated after dispersion of corrosion inhibitor loaded clay in hybrid sol-gel matrix have shown more promising corrosion resistance when compared to just the sol-gel matrix coatings,after prolonged exposure to corrosive environment.

The myth of “minima” and “maxima”,the species of Physalis in the Indian Subcontinent

The status of the names, Physalis minima L. and P. maxima Mill. (Solanaceae), and their alleged presence on the Indian subcontinent are discussed. The issues of nativity and identity of Linnaean Physalis minima are long-debated while the use of the name P. maxima Mill. and its report from India are recent. The available evidence indicates that the name "P. minima L." is misapplied to two different elements, viz., P. angulata L. and P. lagascae roem. & Schult. The name Physalis minima L. may be rejected as nomen confusum, for which the paper provides the primary information. As on today, it is submerged under the synonymy of P. angulata L. The correct name for the widely known P. minima is P. lagascae. The name "P. maxima Mill." applied to the escape and naturalized weed in the Indian subcontinent and elsewhere is to be substituted by P. pruinosa L., a name misapplied to P. grisea (Waterf.) M. Martínez.

The numerical studies of water–oil two-phase slug flow inside a two-dimensional vertical microchannel subjected to modulated wall temperature boundary conditions have been discussed in the present *** researchers have contributed their efforts in exploring the characteristics of Taylor flows inside microchannel under constant wall heat flux or isothermal wall ***,there is no study available in the literature which discusses the impact of modulated thermal wall boundary conditions on the heat transfer behavior of slug flows inside ***,to bridge this gap,an effort has been made to understand the heat transfer characteristics of the flow under sinusoidal wall temperature ***,a single phase flow and heat transfer study was performed in microchannels,and the results of the fully developed velocity profile and heat transfer rate were validated with benchmark analytical *** an optimal selection of the combination of sinusoidal thermal wall boundary conditions has been made for the two-phase slug flow ***,the effects of amplitude(0 bεb 0.03)and frequency(0 bωb 750πrad·s-1)of the sinusoidal wall temperature profile on the heat transfer have been studied using the optimal combination of the wall boundary *** results of the numerical study using modulated temperature conditions on channel walls showed a significant improvement in the heat transfer over liquid-only flow by approximately 50%as well as over two-phase flow without wall temperature *** non-dimensional temperature contours obtained for different cases of temperature modulation clearly explain the root cause of such improvement in the heat ***,the results based on the hydrodynamics of the flow have also been reported in terms of variation of droplet shapes and film *** influence of capillary number on the film thickness as well as heat transfer rates has also been *** addition,the measured fil

In this paper,stagnation point region(suspended with nanofluid and microorganisms)is examined subjected to velocity and thermal *** flow is assumed to be flowing across an exponentially stretching flat surface under magnetic field *** transport equations(framed under Buongiorno’s model)are converted into self-similar form through suitable unsteady exponential similarity transformations which are then solved by employing implicit finite difference scheme(IFDS)known as keller-box method(kBM).A parametric analysis is performed along with limited details of *** of pertinent constraints on local skin friction,local Nusselt number,local Sherwood number and local density number of micro-organisms are also uncovered through graphs.A significant decrease in skin-friction coefficients has been detected with respect to thermal slip in comparison to velocity slip.

Elaborate experiments were performed in a 30 m long,0.5 m deep and 0.2 m wide laboratory flume to study the process of infiltration of fine sediment into the pores of coarse sediment forming the channel bed *** concentrations of suspended load of fine sediment of size 0.064 mm were passed over the channel bed made up of three different types of coarse sediments;two uniform and one *** proportion of fine sediment infiltrated into the pores of bed material for each equilibrium concentration of suspended load of fine sediment in the flow was studied during several experimental *** proportion of fine sediment within the pores of bed material increased with an increase in the equilibrium concentration of suspended load of fine sediment in the *** process continued till the pores within the coarse sediment bed were filled up to the capacity with the fine sediment transported by the flow in *** theoretical value was identified for limit for maximum proportion of fine sediment that can be present within the pores of bed *** further increase in the concentration of suspended load of fine sediment in the flow,deposition of fine sediment occurs on the surface of the flume bed in the form of ripples of the fine *** condition is defined as ’depositional condition’.Experimental observations on these and related aspects are presented herein.

Passive micromixers are preferred over active mixers for many microfluidic applications due to their relative ease in integration into complex systems and operational *** also incur very low cost of ***,the degree of mixing is comparatively low in passive mixers than active mixers due to the absence of disturbance in the flow by external forces and the inherent laminar nature of microchannel *** designs of complex channel structures and three-dimensional geometries have been investigated in the past to obtain an efficient mixing in passive *** the studies on mixing enhancement with simple planar geometries of passive mixers have been few and *** present work aims to investigate the possibility of mixing enhancement by employing simple planar type designs,such as T-mixer and T–T mixer with cylindrical elements placed in the mixing *** mixing performance has been evaluated in the reynolds number range of 6 *** results have shown that T–T mixer with cylindrical elements performed significantly well and obtained very good mixing quality over basic T-mixer for the entire range of reynolds number(6 to 700).The device has also shown better mixing as compared to basic T–T mixer and T-mixer with cylindrical elements.A larger pair of vortices formed in the stagnation area due to the presence of a cylindrical element in the *** elements downstream caused significant enhancement in mixing due to splitting and recombining *** size of the cylindrical element in the T–T mixer has been optimized to obtain better mixing performance of the *** improvement in mixing quality by T–T mixer with cylindrical elements has been obtained at the expense of small rise in pressure drop as compared to other passive designs considered in this ***,the current design of T–T mixer with cylindrical elements can act as an effective and simple passive mixing device for various mi

The ca II k filtergrams from kodaikanal Solar Observatory have been used to study solar activity. The images are dominated by the chromospheric network and plages. Programs have been developed to obtain the network and plage indices from the daily images as functions of solar latitude and time. Preliminary results from the analysis are reported here. The network and plage indices were found to follow the sunspot cycle. A secondary peak is found during the period of declining activity in both the indices. A comparison of network indices from the northern and the southern hemispheres shows that the former is more active than the latter. However such an asymmetry is not clearly seen in the plage index.

A mathematical model is proposed to execute the features of the non-uniform heat source or sink in the chemically reacting magnetohydrodynamic （MHD） casson fluid across a slendering sheet in the presence of microorganisms and cattaneo-christov heat flux. Multiple slips （diffusion, thermal, and momentum slips） are applied in the modeling of the heat and mass transport processes. The runge-kutta based shooting method is used to find the solutions. Numerical simulation is carried out for various values of the physical constraints when the casson index parameter is positive, negative, or infinite with the aid of plots. The coefficients of the skin factors, the local Nusselt number, and the Sherwood number are estimated for different parameters, and discussed for engineering interest. It is found that the gyrotactic microorganisms are greatly encouraged when the dimensionless parameters increase, especially when the casson fluid parameter is negative. It is worth mentioning that th~ velocity profiles when the casson fluid parameter is positive are higher than those when the casson fluid parameter is negative or infinite, whereas the temperature and concentration fields show exactly opposite phenomena.
