Numerical modeling of the tilt casting process for TiAl alloys was investigated to achieve a tranquil mould filling and TiAl castings free of defects. Titanium alloys are very reactive in molten state, so they are widely melted in cold crucible, e.g. the Induction Skull Melting (ISM) furnace. Then the crucible holding the molten metal together with the mould is rotated to transfer the metal into the mould--ISM+ tilt casting. This paper emphasizes the effect of crucial parameters on mould filling and solidification of the castings during tilt casting. All crucial parameters, such as rotation rate, rotation profile, venting, initial mould temperature, casting orientation, feeder design, change of radius in'T'junction and mould insulation have been discussed using numerical modeling data. Simulations were performed using a 3D CFD code PHYSICA implemented with front tracking, heat transfer algorithms and a turbulence model (which accounts for an advancing solid front).

AIM:To detect of colorectal cancer(CRC) circulating tumour cells(CTCs) surface antigens,we present an assay incorporating cadmium selenide quantum dots(QDs) in these ***:The principle of the assay is the immunomagnetic separation of CTCs from body fluids in conjunction with QDs,using specific antibody biomarkers:epithelial cell adhesion molecule antibody,and monoclonal cytokeratin 19 *** detection signal was acquired from the fluorescence signal of *** the evaluation of the performance,the method under study was used to isolate the human colon adenocarcinoma cell line(DLD-1) and CTCs from CRC patients' peripheral ***:The minimum detection limit of the assay was defined to 10 DLD-1 CRC cells/mL as fluorescence was measured with a *** cell sorting analysis and Real Time RT-PCR,they both have also been used to evaluate the performance of the described *** conclusion,we developed a simple,sensitive,efficient and of lower cost(than the existing ones) method for the detection of CRC CTCs in human *** have accomplished these results by using magnetic bead isolation and subsequent QD fluorescence ***:The method described here can be easily adjusted for any other protein target of either the CTC or the host.

Atrial fibrillation(AF) is the most common cardiac arrhythmia and a huge public health burden associated with significant morbidity and mortality. For decades an increasing number of patients have undergone surgical treatment of AF, mainly during concomitant cardiac surgery. This has sparked a drive for conducting further studies and researching this field. With the cornerstone Cox-Maze III "cut and sew" procedure being technically challenging, the focus in current literature has turned towards less invasive techniques. The introduction of ablative devices has revolutionised the surgical management of AF, moving away from the traditional surgical lesions. The hybrid procedure, a combination of catheter and surgical ablation is another promising new technique aiming to improve outcomes. Despite the increasing number of studies looking at various aspects of the surgical management of AF, the literature would benefit from more uniformly conducted randomised control trials.
