A new empirical formula for the astrophysical S-factor has been suggested as a function of the Coulomb interaction parameter,center of mass energy,and barrier *** 22 fusion reactions with ^(40,48)Ca as projectiles were considered for different targets,leading to compound nuclei with atomic and mass numbers varying between 40≤Z≤≤Z≤112 and 88≤A≤27888≤A≤278,*** fusion cross-sections have been estimated using the geometric factor,the Gamow-Sommerfield factor,and the empirical formula for the *** study's findings showed better agreement with those of available experiments when compared to Wong's *** present work leads to a smaller standard deviation value than Wong's formula when used to correlate the experimental data of calcium-induced fusion ***'s formula provides a good approximation of fusion cross-sections when the center of mass energy is below the fusion barrier when compared to above the fusion barrier.

This article analyzes the transmission line characteristics of plasmonic hybrid metal insulator metal(HMIM) wave-guide, circular ring resonator(CRR) based dual-band band-pass filters with two transmission poles in both pass-bands in the optical regime using coupled line feed. The transmission line characteristics of an HMIM waveguide, such as characteristic impedance(Z_(PV)), effective refractive index(n_(eff)) and propagation length(L_(spp)), have been obtained by using full wave simulation.

The dissimilar combinations of Inconel 625 and duplex stainless steel SAF 2205 obtained from manual GTA welding process employing ER2209 and ERni CrMo-3 filler metals have been investigated. Formation of secondary phases at the HAZ of Inconel 625 and grain coarsening at the HAZ of SAF 2205 were witnessed while using these filler wires. The average hardness of ER2209 weldments was found to be greater than ERni CrMo-3 weld. Tensile fracture was observed at the weld zones for both the fillers. Impact test trials showed brittle mode of fracture on employing ER2209 filler and mixed（ductile–brittle） mode of fracture while using ERni CrMo-3 filler. Further optical microscopy and SEM/EDS analysis were carried out across the weldments to investigate the structure–property relationships.

We have studied the gamma and X-ray radiation compatibility of Ti-based alloys such as Ti–37 Ta–26 Hf–13 Zr-24(wt%) [Alloy 1], Ti–40 Ta–22 Hf–11.7 Zr-26.3(wt%) [Alloy 2], Ti–45 Ta–18.4 Hf–10 Zr-26.6(wt%) [Alloy3], Ti–50 Ta–15 Hf–8 Zr-27(wt%) [Alloy 4], Ti–55 Ta–12 Hf–7 Zr-26(wt%) [Alloy 5], and Ti–60 Ta–10 Hf–5 Zr-25(wt%) [Alloy 6]. Gamma and X-ray radiation compatibility is studied by evaluating the mass attenuation coefficient,mean free path, HVL, TVL effective atomic number,effective electron density, exposure buildup factor, and relative dose. We have compared these parameters for studied alloys with that of arteries. The alloys Ti–55 Ta–12 Hf–7 Zr-26 and Ti–60 Ta–10 Hf–5 Zr-25 have added properties such as gamma/X-ray radiation compatibility,high elastic admissible strain, high mechanical strength,and excellent biocompatibility. Hence, we may suggest that, among Ti–Ta–Hf–Zr alloys, these alloys are best materials for coronary stent applications.

Seven sampling sites in each of three biomes (Western Ghats, foothills of Western Ghats and west coast) of south- western India were investigated to study the distribution, abundance and ecology of pill millipedes (Arthrosphaera) and associated fauna in relation to edaphic features. Abundance and biomass of Arthrosphaera and other millipedes were the highest in Western Ghats, while earthworms were in foothills. Arthrosphaera magna and Arthrosphaera spp. were common in Western Ghats and foothills respectively, while no Arthrosphaera were found in the west coast. none of the sampling sites consisted of more than one species of Arthrosphaera. Biomass of Arthrosphaera, other millipedes and earthworms significantly differed in Western Ghats (P = 9.48 × 10-7) and foothills (P = 1.35 × 10-8), as did the biomass of species of Arthrosphaera (P = 2.76 × 10-7) between Western Ghats and foothills. Correlation analysis revealed that biomass of Arthrosphaera was significantly (P = 0.01, r = 0.45) correlated with soil organic carbon rather than other edaphic fea- tures (pH, phosphate, calcium and magnesium). Distribution pattern, abundance, biomass and ecology of Arthrosphaera of Western Ghats in relation to soil qualities were compared with millipedes of other regions of the world.

The present study reported the effect of filler metals on the microstructure and mechanical properties of pulsed current gas tungsten arc-welded Inconel 718 plates. Two different filler metals such as ERniCr-3 and ERniCrMo-4 were employed for welding Inconel 718. The primary objective of this study is to suppress or eradicate the deleterious phase such as Laves or δ （delta） which is considered to be detrimental to the weld properties. Microstructure examination corroborated the presence of unmixed zone at the HAZ for both the weldments. Tensile test trials envisaged that ERniCrMo-4 weldments offered better tensile properties compared to ERniCr-3 weldments, whereas the impact toughness was found to be better for ERniCr-3 weldments. Line mapping analysis was carried out to study the elemental migration across the weldments. The structure-property relationships of the weldments were arrived at using the combined tech- niques of optical and scanning electron microscopy. Optical and SEM/EDAX analysis showed that there is no prominent occurrence of deleterious phases at the weld zone on employing these filler metals.

Integrated water vapor during active and break spells of monsoon and its relationship with temperature,precipitation and precipitation efficiency over a tropical site

Global Positioning System(GPS)measurements of integrated water vapor(IWV)for two years(2014 and 2015)are presented in this *** of IWV during active and break spells of Indian summer monsoon has been studied for a tropical station Hyderabad(17.4°n,78.46°E).The data is validated with ECMWF Re-Analysis(ERA)91 level *** of IWV with other atmospheric variables like surface temperature,rain,and precipitation efficiency have been established through cross-correlation studies.A positive correlation coefficient is observed between IWV and surface temperature over two *** the coefficient becomes negative when only summer monsoon months(June,July,August,and September)are *** during these months cools down the surface and could be the reason for this change in the correlation *** studies between IWV-precipitation,IWVprecipitation efficiency(P.E),and precipitation-P.E show that coefficients are-0.05,-0.10 and 0.983 with 95%confidence level respectively,which proves that the efficacy of rain does not depend only on the level of water vapor.A proper dynamic mechanism is necessary to convert water vapor into the *** diurnal variations of IWV during active and break spells have been *** amplitudes of diurnal oscillation and its harmonics of individual spell do not show clear trends but the mean amplitudes of the break spells are approximately double than those of the active *** amplitudes of diurnal,semidiurnal and ter-diurnal components during break spells are 1.08 kg/m^(2),0.52 kg/m;and 0.34 kg/m;*** corresponding amplitudes during active spells are 0.68 kg/m^(2),0.41 kg/m;and 0.23 kg/m;.

The power output of the photovoltaic(PV) system having multiple arrays gets reduced to a great extent when it is partially shaded due to environmental hindrances. The maximum power trackers which are conventionally used may not be competent enough to find the maximum power point(MPP) during partially shaded conditions. The sensible reason for the failure of conventional trackers is during partial shaded conditions the PV arrays exhibit multi peak power curves, thereby making simple maximum power point tracking(MPPT) algorithms like perturb and observe(P&O) to get stuck with local maxima instead of capturing global ***, global search MPPT aided by evolutionary and swarm intelligence algorithms will be conducive to find global power point during partially shaded conditions. This work suggests a unified controller which feeds control signal to its power electronic conditioner placed at each module. The evolutionary algorithm which is taken into consideration in this work is differential evolution(DE).The performance of the proposed method is compared to the classical un-dimensional search controller and it is evident from the Matlab/Simulink results that the unified controller prevails over the distributed counterpart.

Ultimate Strength Prediction of Carbon/Epoxy Tensile Specimens from Acoustic Emission Data

The objective of this paper was to predict the residual strength of post impacted carbon/epoxy composite laminates using an online acoustic emission （AE） monitoring and artificial neural networks （Ann）. The laminates were made from eight-layered carbon （in woven mat form） with epoxy as the binding medium by hand lay-up technique and cured at a pressure of 100 kg/cm2 under room temperature using a 30 ton capacity compression molding machine for 24 h. 21 tensile specimens （ASTM D3039 standard） were cut from the cross ply laminates. 16 specimens were subjected to impact load from three different heights using a Fractovis Plus drop impact tester. Both impacted and non-impacted specimens were subjected to uniaxial tension under the acoustic emission monitoring using a 100 kn FIE servo hydraulic universal testing machine. The dominant AE parameters such as counts, energy, duration, rise time and amplitude are recorded during monitoring. Cumulative counts corresponding to the amplitude ranges obtained during the tensile testing are used to train the network. This network can be used to predict the failure load of a similar specimen subjected to uniaxial tension under acoustic emission monitoring for certain percentage of the average failure load.
