Patients with nonerosive gastroesophageal reflux disease often have relatively low esophageal acid exposure and respond suboptimally to gastric acid suppressi on. In these patients, other constituents of gastric contents may induce esophag eal *** have demonstrated that gastric contents can cause heartburn when the gastric pH > 4. (Aliment Pharm Ther 14:129-134, 2000). The aim of this stu dy was to determine relative sensitivities to chenodeoxycholic and ursodeoxychol ic acids, and 0.1 N HCl, administered as provocative perfusion tests. Patients w ith functional heartburn and healthy control subjects were evaluated. Patients u nderwent a modified Bernstein acid infusion test and esophageal Barostat balloon distention. Time and volume to pain were recorded. Barostat balloon distention was performed using our standard ***- wise distentions were performed and pain was *** to chenodeox ycholic acid (Cheno) and Ursodeoxycholic acid (Urso) were assessed similarly to the Bernstein test using 2 mm concentrations of each, followed immediately by 5 mm if no pain was reported with 2 mm. Volume of bile acid infusion and length of time until pain was induced were assessed and compared to the same endpoints fo r acid sensitivity. “Total"time and “total" volume to induce pain were calcula ted for Cheno and Urso. Least-squares means were generated and twotailed t-tes ts and regression analyses were performed (Pm, 13 F; age range, 19 to 56 years). Since five of six cont rols had pain with ac- id infusion(hypersensitive), all subjects were analyzed as one group. Only thr ee subjects (all controls) had no pain with infusion of 2 mm Cheno and received the follow-up infusion of 5 mm. These same three subjects tolerated the maximum infusion (150 ml and 15 min) of 5 mm Cheno. Nine subjects did not have pain wit h 2 mm Urso and received the follow

Aim:To compare the phenotype of lean versus overweight(OW)and obese(OB)subjects with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)across multiple ***:A retrospective study of histologically defined subjects from a single center each in France(Fr),Brazil(Br),India(In)and United States(US)was ***:A total of 70 lean[body mass index(BmI)kg/m2]subjects(Fr:Br:In:US:16:19:22:13)with NAFLD were compared to 136 OW(BmI>25 kg/m2,BmIkg/m2)(n=28:33:52:23)and 224 OB subjects(BmI>29 kg/m2)(n=81:11:22:103).Lean French subjects had the lowest incidence of type 2 diabetes while those from Brazil(Pmilar low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol,but higher high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol compared to obese subjects in all *** both lean and obese subjects,there were both insulin-sensitive and insulin-resistant *** French subjects were most insulin-sensitive while those from Brazil were mostly *** each weight category,subjects from India were more insulin-sensitive than those from other *** activity increased from lean to overweight to obese in France but was similar across weight categories in other ***:The phenotype of NAFLD in lean subjects varies by *** obese subjects with NAFLD are *** hypothesize that genetics and region-specific disease modifiers account for these differences.

Background:National forest inventory and forest monitoring systems are more important than ever considering continued global degradation of trees and *** systems are especially important in a country like Bangladesh,which is characterised by a large population density,climate change vulnerability and dependence on natural *** the aim of supporting the Government’s actions towards sustainable forest management through reliable information,the Bangladesh Forest Inventory(BFI)was designed and implemented through three components:biophysical inventory,socio-economic survey and remote sensing-based land cover *** article documents the approach undertaken by the Forest Department under the ministry of Environment,Forests and Climate Change to establish the BFI as a multipurpose,efficient,accurate and replicable national forest *** design,operationalization and some key results of the process are ***:The BFI takes advantage of the latest and most well-accepted technological and methodological ***,it was designed through a collaborative process which drew from the experience and knowledge of multiple national and international ***,1781 field plots were visited,6400 households were surveyed,and a national land cover map for the year 2015 was *** technological enhancements include a semi-automated segmentation approach for developing the wall-to-wall land cover map,an object-based national land characterisation system,consistent estimates between sample-based and mapped land cover areas,use of mobile apps for tree species identification and data collection,and use of differential global positioning system for referencing plot ***:Seven criteria,and multiple associated indicators,were developed for monitoring progress towards sustainable forest management goals,informing management decisions,and national and international reporting needs.A wide range of biophysica

Closing the gap of children’s surgery in Pakistan

Two billion children worldwide lack access to safe surgical and anesthesia care when needed.1 The global pediatric surgical work-force is limited,and children and adolescents with surgical conditions often get absorbed into adult surgical services as pediatric surgeons are absent or *** an estimated population of 68.5 million chil-dren younger than 15 years(35%of the total population),Pakistan also faces similar chal-lenges in delivering adequate surgical care to *** investments in maternal and child health in recent years,Pakistan was unable to attain the millennium Development Goals in *** death rate from congenital anomalies before the age of 5 years is still 77.2 children per 100000 live births,and a quarter of all deaths among children ages 5 and 14 years are a result of injuries.2 Despite this high burden,pediatric surgical care remains limited throughout Pakistan,with 0.4 pedi-atric surgeons per million population in the entire country,in contrast to upper-middle and high-income countries which have more than two pediatric surgeons per million popu-lation.

Effects of histamine HlR-H4R-agonist on the airway epithelium of rabbits

Objective:To explore the exact role of histamine receptors in respiratory ***: The cohort comprised of six groups(group I control and groupⅡ—Ⅳtreated) containing five rabbits in each ***-group received vehicle(sterile distilled water) and treated groups received subcutaneous histamine(100μg/kg,b.i.d.),and H1R-agonist(HTmT),H2R-agonist (amthamine),H3R-agonist(R-(-)-α-methylhistamine) and H4R-agonist(clobenpropit) each in a dose of 10μg/kg,*** 30 subsequent *** completion of treatment,animals were euthanized and perfused with 10% buffered *** tissue blocks of trachea and lungs were processed for paraffin *** were recorded in sample photomicrographs taken from 10μm *** and eosin stained ***:It was observed that trachea and bronchi from histamine,H1R and H4R groups had only patches of hyperplastic and hypertrophied epithelium and in general,cells in the affected region were taller heaped up. The bronchiolar epithelia from all treated groups showed hypertrophy and hyperplasia throughout with most of the cells having rounded profile and appeared to bud out from the basal cells. Conclusions:It is concluded that histamine receptors on induction via its specific agonist can induce hypertrophy,hyperplasia of respiratory tract epithelia suggesting its role akin to growth stimulating factor and warranting further long-term study.

A black shale sample collected from the Chimiari site(Tarbela) was analyzed for elemental *** coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry(ICP-OES) was employed to determine major and trace elements in the *** analysis was accomplished for the black shales,which was better than 2.0%.Result shows that the shales are very rich in Ca(25439 μg·g-1),Fe(13933 μg·g-1),Ti(6932 μg·g-1),Al(5993 μg·g-1) and k(2730 μg·g-1).

本文报道了一项前瞻性观察研究的结果。在该前瞻性研究中，应用XStop植入物治疗有症状的腰椎管狭窄，并定期收集术后患者的临床疗效结果，进行前后比较分析。XStop棘突间撑开装置是一种比较新的棘突间植入物，用以治疗有症状的椎管狭窄，尤其伴有神经源性间歇性跛行的患者。以前的一项随机研究显示，腰椎管狭窄患者行XStop植入后1年，其症状和躯体功能可以得到75％的改善。
