It is often said that the emergence of antimicrobial drug resistance(AmR)in pathogens is the major cause of *** the present study,clinical microbiology data on infections caused by klebsiella pneumoniae strains and their antimicrobial drug resistance specifically to carbapenems retrieved from Clinical Epidemiology database of the Institute were analysed to determine the impact of carbapenem resistance in klebsiellae isolated from the clinical samples of veterinary cases and outcome of the infection because in a few recent reports it is claimed that the presence of carbapenem-resistant klebsiellae is associated with higher mortality in humans due to klebsiella *** retrospective analysis of klebsiella infections in animals and birds revealed that 21.8%of *** causing pneumonic or septicemic infections were carbapenem-resistant but the carbapenem resistance was not associated with increased numbers of deaths or *** may be probably due to the fact that carbapenem drugs were not used for the treatment of infected animals and carbapenem resistance may not be associated with the lethality potential of klebsiellae.

Effect of Ne Glow Discharge on Ion Density Control in LHD

Neon glow discharge cleaning was firstly attempted in Large Helical Device(LHD) instead of He glow discharge to remove hydrogen neutrals and to control the ion density, n_*** Ne glow discharge continued for 8 hours overnight after a three-day experiment. At the secondnight H_α emission became weaker than the emission usually observed in the He glow discharge. Aclear reduction of the hydrogen influx was also observed in neutral beam injection (NBI) dischargeswith Ne puff, whereas the neon recycling was strongly enhanced with appearance of a flat densityprofile. As a result, the lowest density limit was further reduced down to 0.2 X 10^(13)cm^(-3). Theuse of Ar puff formed a peaked density profile with a high T_i of 7 keV.

Climate variability as occasioned by conditions such as extreme rainfall and temperature, rainfall cessation, and irregular temperatures has considerable impact on crop yield and food security. This study develops a predictive model for cassava yield (manihot esculenta Crantz) amidst climate variability in rainfed zone of Enugu State, Nigeria. This study utilized data of climate variables and tonnage of cassava yield spanning from 1971 to 2012;as well as information from a questionnaire and focus group discussion from farmers across two seasons in 2023 respectively. Regression analysis was employed to develop the predictive model equation for seasonal climate variability and cassava yield. The rainfall and temperature anomalies, decadal change in trend of cassava yield and opinion of farmers on changes in rainfall season were also computed in the study. The result shows the following relationship between cassava and all the climatic variables: R2 = 0.939;P = 0.00514;Cassava and key climatic variables: R2 = 0.560;P = 0.007. The result implies that seasonal rainfall, temperature, relative humidity, sunshine hours and radiation parameters are key climatic variables in cassava production. This is supported by computed rainfall and temperature anomalies which range from −478.5 to 517.8 mm as well as −1.2˚C to 2.3˚C over the years. The questionnaire and focus group identified that farmers experienced at one time or another, late onset of rain, early onset of rain or rainfall cessation over the years. The farmers are not particularly sure of rainfall and temperature characteristics at any point in time. The implication of the result of this study is that rainfall and temperature parameters determine the farming season and quantity of productivity. Hence, there is urgent need to address the situation through effective and quality weather forecasting network which will help stem food insecurity in the study area and Nigeria at large. The fatigue analyses of AlSi7 closed-cell aluminium foam were performed using a real porous model and three different homogenised material models:crushable foam model,isotropic hardening model and kinematic hardening *** numerical analysis using all three homogenised material models is based on the available experimental results previously determined from fatigue tests under oscillating tensile loading with the stress ratio R=*** obtained computational results have shown that both isotropic and kinematic hardening models are suitable to analyse the fatigue behaviour of closed-cell aluminium ***,the kinematic hardening material model has demonstrated significantly shorter simulation time if compared to the isotropic hardening material *** the other hand,the crushable foam model is recognized as an inappropriate approach for the fatigue analyses under tension loading conditions.

mechanical circulatory and/or respiratory assistance with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECmO) has become a standard of care for patients with circulatory (venoarterial) and/or respiratory (venovenous) failure refractory to standard therapies. Adult patients with congenital heart disease are an increasingly recognized and growing population and include various groups, such as undiagnosed cases in childhood and palliated and/or corrected cases, which require subsequent care because of residual lesions, cardiac arrest/insufficiency, and arrhythmias, among other conditions. In addition, these patients are prone to developing pathologies that are typical of adulthood with a generally increased risk of morbidity and mortality because of their low reserves and organic damage associated with the underlying heart disease, which makes them candidates for ECmO. These patients represent an additional challenge in this therapy because malformations and the presence of a shunt can generally affect the usual cannulation methods and hemodynamic and oximetry monitoring. Thus, the configuration decision must be made on a case-by-case basis. Here, we present a cannulation method, venopulmonary artery ECmO, which provides hemodynamic and respiratory support, and may be ideal for patients with shunts and/or right ventricular dysfunction. To our knowledge, this is the first report of this configuration in patients with congenital heart diseases.

Due to the increasing use of passive absorbers to control unwanted vibrations,many studies have been done on energy absorbers ideally,but the lack of studies of real environmental conditions on these absorbers is *** present work investigates the effect of viscoelasticity on the stability and bifurcations of a system attached to a nonlinear energy sink(NES).In this paper,the Burgers model is assumed for the viscoelasticity in an NES,and a linear oscillator system is considered for investigating the instabilities and *** equations of motion of the coupled system are solved by using the harmonic balance and pseudo-arc-length continuation *** results show that the viscoelasticity affects the frequency intervals of the Hopf and saddle-node branches,and by increasing the stiffness parameters of the viscoelasticity,the conditions of these branches occur in larger ranges of the external force amplitudes,and also reduce the frequency range of the *** addition,increasing the viscoelastic damping parameter has the potential to completely eliminate the instability of the system and gradually reduce the amplitude of the jump phenomenon.

This paper presents intensive investigation of dynamics of high frequency nonlinear modulated excitations in a damped bimodal lattice. The effects of the dissipation are considered through a linear dissipation coefficient whose evolution in terms of the carrier wave frequency is checked. There appears that the dissipation coefficient increases with the carrier wave frequency. In the linear limit and for high frequency waves, study of the asymptotic behavior of plane waves reveals the existence of two additional regions in the dispersion curve where the modulational phenomenon is observed compared to the lossless line. Based on the multiple scales method exploited in the continuum approximation using an appropriate decoupling ansatz for the voltage of the two different cells, it appears that the motion of modulated waves is described by a dissipative complex Ginzburg–Landau equation instead of a korteweg–de Vries equation. We also show that this amplitude wave equation admits envelope and hole solitons in the high frequency mode. From basic sources, we design a programmable electronic generator of complex signals with desired characteristics, which delivers signals exploited as input waves for all our numerical simulations. These simulations are performed in the LTspice software that uses realistic components and give the results that corroborate perfectly our analytical predictions.
