In this correspondence,we establish mean convergence theorems for the maximum of normed double sums of Banach space valued random *** of the results pertain to random elements which are *** expand and improve a number of particular cases in the literature on mean convergence of random elements in Banach *** of the main contributions of the paper is to simplify and improve a recent result of li,Presnell,and Rosalsky[Journal of Mathematical Inequalities,16,117–126(2022)].A new maximal inequality for double sums of M-dependent random elements is proved which may be of independent *** sharpness of the results is illustrated by four examples.

Polymer-based EOR methods in low-permeability reservoirs face injectivity issues and increased fracturing due to near wellbore plugging,as well as high-pressure gradients in these *** may cause pore blockage and undergo shear degradation and even oxidative degradation at high temperatures in the presence of very hard ***-tension gas(lTG) flooding has the potential to be applied successfully for low-permeability carbonate reservoirs even in the presence of high formation brine *** lTG flooding,the interfacial tension between oil and water is reduced to ultra-low values(10^-3 dyne/cm) by injecting an optimized surfactant formulation to maximize mobilization of residual oil ***(nitrogen,hydrocarbon gases or C02) is co-injected along with the surfactant slug to generate in situ foam which reduces the mobility ratio between the displaced(oil) and displacing phases,thus improving the displacement efficiency of the *** this work,the mechanism governing lTG flooding in low-permeability,high-salinity reservoirs was studied at a microscopic level using microemulsion properties and on a macroscopic scale by laboratory-scale coreflooding *** main injection parameters studied were injected slug salinity and the interrelation between surfactant concentration and injected foam quality,and how they influence oil mobilization and displacement *** assessment of the results was performed by studying oil recovery,oil fractional flow,oil bank breakthrough and effluent salinity and pressure drop characteristics.

Engineered cementitious composites(ECC),also known as bendable concrete,were developed based on engineering the interactions between fibers and cementitious *** orientation of fibers,in this regard,is one of the major factors influencing the ductile behavior of this *** this study,fiber orientation distributions in ECC beams influenced by different casting techniques are evaluated via numerical modeling of the casting *** casting directions and two casting positions of the funnel outlet with beam specimens are modeled using a particle-based smoothed particle hydrodynamics(SPH)*** this SPH approach,fresh mortar and fiber are discretized by separated mortar and fiber particles,which smoothly interact in the computational domain of *** movement of fiber particles is monitored during the casting ***,the fiber orientations at different sections of specimens are determined after the fresh ECC stops flowing in the *** simulation results show a significant impact of the casting direction on fiber orientation distributions along the longitudinal wall of beams,which eventually influence the flexural strength of *** addition,casting positions show negligible influences on the orientation distribution of fibers in the short ECC beam,except under the pouring position.

Sorting nexins are conserved proteins that function in vesicular trafficking and contain a characteristic phox homology （PX） domain. Here, we characterize the ubiquitously expressed Arabidopsis thaliana sorting nexin AtSNX2b. Sub-cellular fractionation studies indicate that AtSNX2b is peripherally associated with membranes. The AtSNX2b PX domain binds to phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate in vitro and this association is required for the localization of GFPAtSNX2b to punctate structures in vivo, identified as the trans-Golgi network, prevacuolar compartment and endosomes. Overexpression of GFP-tagged AtSNX2b produces enlarged GFP-labeled compartments that can also be labeled by the endocytic tracer FM4-64. Endocytic trafficking of FM4-64 to the vacuole is arrested in these GFP-AtSNX2b compartments, and similar FM4-64-accumulating compartments are seen upon overexpression of untagged AtSNX2b. This suggests that exit of membrane components from these enlarged or aggregated endosomes is inhibited. Vacuolar proteins containing an N-terminal propeptide, but not those with a C-terminal propeptide, are also present in these enlarged compartments. We hypothesize that AtSNX2b is involved in vesicular trafficking from endosomes to the vacuole.

We examined the conditions of neutron density(n) and temperature(T9) required for the N = 50, 82,and 126 isotopes to be waiting points(WP) in the r-process. The nuclear mass based on experimental data presented in the AME2020 database(AME and AME ± Δ) and that predicted using FRDM,WS4, DZ10, and kTUY models were employed in our estimations. We found that the conditions required by the N = 50 WP significantly overlap with those required by the N = 82 ones, except for the WS4 model. In addition, the upper(or lower) bounds of the n-T9 conditions based on the models are different from each other due to the deviations in the two-neutron separation *** standard deviations in the nuclear mass of 108 isotopes in the three N = 50, 82, and 126 groups are about rms = 0.192 and 0.434 Me V for the pairs of kTUY-AME and WS4-kTUY models,respectively. We found that these mass uncertainties result in a large discrepancy in the nn-T_(9) conditions, leading to significant differences in the conditions for simultaneously appearing all the three peaks in the r-process abundance. The newly updated FRDM and WS4 calculations can give the overall conditions for the appearance of all the peaks but vice versa for their old versions in a previous study. The change in the final r-process isotopic abundance due to the mass uncertainty is from a few factors to three orders of magnitude. Therefore, accurate nuclear masses of the r-process key nuclei, especially for 76 Fe,81Cu,127Rh,132Cd,192Dy, and 197Tm, are highly recommended to be measured in radioactive-ion beam facilities for a better understanding of the r-process evolution.

Environmental pollution,such as water contamination,is a critical issue that must be absolutely ***,three different morphologies of tungsten-based photocatalysts(WO_(3)nanorods,WO_(3)/WS_(2)nanobricks,WO_(3)/WS_(2)nanorods)are made using a simple hydrothermal method by changing the solvents(H_(2)O,DMF,aqueous HCl solution).The as-prepared nanocatalysts have excellent thermal stability,large porosity,and high *** results show all materials have good photocatalytic activity in aqueous media,with WO_(3)/WS_(2)nanorods(NRs)having the best activity in the photodegradation of bisphenol A(BPA)under visible-light *** may originate from increased migration of charge carriers and effective prevention of electron–hole recombination in WO_(3)/WS_(2)NRs,whereby this photocatalyst is able to generate more reactive·OH and·O_(2)^(–)species,leading to greater photocatalytic *** 99.6% of BPA is photodegraded within 60 min when using 1.5 g/l WO_(3)/WS_(2)NRs and 5.0 mg/l BPA at pH ***,the optimal conditions(pH,catalyst dosage,initial BPA concentration)for WO_(3)/WS_(2)NRs are also elaborately *** rod-like heterostructures are expressed as potential catalysts with excellent photostability,efficient reusability,and highly active effectivity in different types of *** particular,the removal efficiency of BPA by WO_(3)/WS_(2)NRs reduces by only 1.5% after five recycling runs and even reaches 89.1%in contaminated lake *** study provides promising insights for the nearly complete removal of BPA from wastewater or different water resources,which is advantageous to various applications in environmental remediation.

Resistance to targeted anti-cancer drugs is a complex phenomenon and a major challenge in cancer *** is becoming increasingly evident that a form of acquired drug resistance known as“adaptive resistance”is a common cause of treatment failure and patient relapse in many *** classical resistance mechanisms that are acquired via genomic alterations,adaptive resistance is instead driven by non-genomic changes involving rapid and dynamic rewiring of signalling and/or transcriptional networks following therapy,enabled by complex pathway crosstalk and feedback *** network rewiring allows tumour cells to adapt to the drug treatment,circumvent the initial drug challenge and continue to survive in the presence of the *** its great clinical importance,adaptive resistance remains largely under-studied and poorly *** review is focused on recent findings which provide new insights into the mechanisms underlying adaptive resistance in breast cancer,highlighting how breast tumour cells rewire intracellular signalling pathways to overcome the stress of initial targeted *** particular,we investigate adaptive resistance to targeted inhibition of two major oncogenic signalling axes frequently dysregulated in breast cancer,the PI3k-AkT-mTOR and RAS-MAPk signalling pathways;and discuss potential combination treatment strategies that overcome such *** addition,we highlight application of quantitative and computational modelling as a novel integrative and powerful approach to gain network-level understanding of network rewiring,and rationally identify and prioritise effective drug combinations.

The male and female reproductive tracts are complex microenvironments that have diverse functional demands. The immune system in the reproductive tract has the demanding task of providing a protective environment for a fetal allograft while simultaneously conferring protection against potential pathogens. As such, it has evolved a unique set of adaptations, primarily under the influence of sex hormones, which make it distinct from other mucosal sites. Here, we discuss the various components of the immune system that are present in both the male and female reproductive tracts, including innate soluble factors and cells and humoral and cell-mediated adaptive immunity under homeostatic conditions. We review the evidence showing unique phenotypic and functional characteristics of immune cells and responses in the male and female reproductive tracts that exhibit compartmentalization from systemic immunity and discuss how these features are influenced by sex hormones. We also examine the interactions among the reproductive tract, sex hormones and immune responses following HIV-1 infection. An improved understanding of the unique characteristics of the male and female reproductive tracts will provide insights into improving clinical treatments of the immunological causes of infertility and the design of prophylactic interventions for the prevention of sexually transmitted infections.
