The intrinsic ferromagnetism of CoBr2 bulk was investigated using DFT(density functional theory)combined with the full potential linear augmented plane wave method and Monte Carlo *** ground state of CoBr2 exhibits ferromagnetic behavior and a semiconductor *** used the generalized gradient approximation(GGA)and GGA+U(Hubbard correction)approximations to determinate the magnetic *** magnetic moment reached the experimental value and was in good agreement with the other theoretical *** value obtained was used as an input to a Monte Carlo study to calculate the thermal magnetization and magnetic hysteresis *** behavior was observed and was found to be due to an positive exchange *** results lead us to believe that this material could be a promising spintronic material.

Background:Proprioceptive accuracy refers to the individual’s ability to perceive proprioceptive information,that is,the information referring to the actual state of the locomotor system,which originates from mechanoreceptors located in various parts of the locomotor system and from tactile receptors located in the *** accuracy appears to be an important aspect in the evaluation of sensorimotor functioning;however,no widely accepted standard assessment *** this systematic review,our goal was to identify and categorize different methods that are used to assess different aspects of proprioceptive ***:A literature search was conducted in 5 different databases(PubMed,SPORTDiscus,PsycINFO,ScienceDirect,and SpringerLink).Results:Overall,1139 scientific papers reporting 1346 methods were included in this *** methods assess 8 different aspects of proprioception:(a)the perception of joint position,(b)movement and movement extent,(c)trajectory,(d)velocity,and the sense of(e)force,(f)muscle tension,(g)weight,and(h)*** apply various paradigms of psychophysics(i.e.,the method of adjustment,constant stimuli,and limits).Conclusion:As the outcomes of different tasks with respect to various body parts show no associations(i.e.,proprioceptive accuracy is characterized by site-specificity and method-specificity),the appropriate measurement method for the task needs to be chosen based on theoretical considerations and/or ecological validity.

Deep eutectic solvents(DESs) were used for luminescence measurements in quantitative analysis of trivalent lanthanide ions and as solvents for light rare earth elements(LREE) in solid-liquid *** spectroscopic characteristics of lanthanide chlorides LnCl3(Ln=Eu,Tb),respectively their aquo complexes,are described in a comprehensive study that demonstrates the significant enhancement of the phosphorescence emission intensity in DESs as polar and weakly coordinating *** DESs stabilize the lanthanide ion luminescence against changes in temperature and moisture,which is advantageous compared with the use of ionic *** amounts of water lead in certain eutectic systems even to a further increase in phosphorescence emission *** investigating the solubility of lanthanide sesquioxides Ln2 O3(Ln=La,Nd,Sm,Eu,Gd,Tb,Dy) in DESs,selectivities are identified that may be of use for the separation of LREE.

Preference for uninfected mates is presumed beneficial as it minimizes one＇s risk of contracting an infection and infecting one＇s offspring. In avian systems, visual ornaments are often used to indi- cate parasite burdens and facilitate mate choice. However, in mammals, olfactory cues have been proposed to act as a mechanism allowing potential mates to be discriminated by infection status. The effect of infection upon mammalian mate choice is mainly studied in captive rodents where ex- perimental trials support preference for the odors of uninfected mates and some data suggest scent marking is reduced in individuals with high infection burdens. Nevertheless, whether such effects occur in nonmodel and wild systems remains poorly understood. Here, we investigate the interplay between parasite load （estimated using fecal egg counts） and scent marking behavior in a wild population of banded mongooses Mungos mungo. Focusing on a costly protozoan parasite of the genus Isospora and the nematode worm Toxocara, we first show that banded mongooses that engage in frequent, intensive scent marking have lower Isospora loads, suggesting marking behavior may be an indicator trait regarding infection status. We then use odor presentations to demonstrate that banded mongooses mark less in response to odors of opposite sexed individuals with high Isospora and Toxocara loads. As both of these parasites are known to have detrimental effects upon the health of preweaned young in other species, they would appear key targets to avoid during mate choice. Results provide support for scent as an important ornament and mechanism for advertising parasitic infection within wild mammals.

Classifying forest inventory data into species-based forest community types at broad extents： exploring tradeoffs among supervised and unsupervised approaches

Background： knowledge of the different kinds of tree communities that currently exist can provide a baseline for assessing the ecological attributes of forests and monitoring future changes. Forest inventory data can facilitate the development of this baseline knowledge across broad extents, but they first must be classified into forest community types. Here, we compared three alternative classifications across the United States using data from over 117,000 U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service Forest Inventory and Analysis （FIA） plots. Methods： Each plot had three forest community type labels：（1）＂FIA＂ types were assigned by the FIA program using a supervised method; （2）＂USNVC＂ types were assigned via a key based on the U.S. National Vegetation Classification; （3）＂empirical＂ types resulted from unsupervised clustering of tree species information. We assessed the degree to which analog classes occurred among classifications, compared indicator species values, and used random forest models to determine how well the classifications could be predicted using environmental variables. Results： The classifications generated groups of classes that had broadly similar distributions, but often there was no one-to-one analog across the classifications. The Iongleaf pine forest community type stood out as the exception： it was the only class with strong analogs across all classifications. Analogs were most lacking for forest community types with species that occurred across a range of geographic and environmental conditions, such as Ioblolly pine types, indicator species metrics were generally high for the USNVC, suggesting that LJSNVC classes are floristically well-defined. The empirical classification was best predicted by environmental variables. Quantification of occlusions influencing the tree stem curve retrieving from single-scan terrestrial laser scanning data

Background: The stem curve of standing trees is an essential parameter for accurate estimation of stem *** study aims to directly quantify the occlusions within the single-scan terrestrial laser scanning(TLS) data,evaluate its correlation with the accuracy of the retrieved stem curves, and subsequently, to assess the capacity of single-scan TLS to estimate stem ***: We proposed an index, occlusion rate, to quantify the occlusion level in TLS data. We then analyzed three influencing factors for the occlusion rate: the percentage of basal area near the scanning center, the scanning distance and the source of occlusions. Finally, we evaluated the effects of occlusions on stem curve estimates from single-scan TLS ***: The results showed that the correlations between the occlusion rate and the stem curve estimation accuracies were strong(r = 0.60–0.83), so was the correlations between the occlusion rate and its influencing factors(r = 0.84–0.99). It also showed that the occlusions from tree stems were the main factor of the low detection rate of stems, while the non-stem components mainly influenced the completeness of the retrieved stem ***: Our study demonstrates that the occlusions significantly affect the accuracy of stem curve retrieval from the single-scan TLS data in a typical-size(32 m × 32 m) forest plot. However, the single-scan mode has the capacity to accurately estimate the stem curve in a small forest plot(< 10 m × 10 m) or a plot with a lower occlusion rate, such as less than 35% in our tested datasets. The findings from this study are useful for guiding the practice of retrieving forest parameters using single-scan TLS data.

Memory-epigenetics which is the loss of memory due to epigenetic modifications can be due to the silencing of genes involved in cognitive functions and this is the basis of the current *** hypothesize that a diet containing high methionine and low vitamins can lead to memory impairment by increasing global DNA methylation and therefore,silencing the netrin-1 gene,which encodes the glycoprotein involved in neurogenesis,axonal guidance and maintenance of the synaptic *** type(C57 BL/6 J) mice were fed with a diet containing excess methionine(1.2%),low-folate(0.08 mg/kg),vitamin B_6(0.01 mg/kg),and B_(12)(10.4 mg/kg) for 6 *** were examined weekly for the long-term memory function,using a passive avoidance test,which determined loss of fear-motivated long-term memory starting from the fourth week of ***,an increase in brain %5-methyl cytosine was observed starting from the 4 th week of diet in *** fed with a high methionine,low folate and vitamins containing diet showed a decrease in netrin-1 protein expression and an increase in netrin-1 gene promotor methylation,as determined by methylation-sensitive restriction enzyme-polymerase chain reaction *** increase in methylation of netrin-1 gene was validated by high-resolution melting and sequencing ***,the association of netrin-1 with memory was established by administering netrin that considerably restored long-term fear motivated *** together,these results suggest that a diet rich in methionine and lacking in folate and vitamin B_6/B_(12) can induce defects in learning and ***,the data indicates that decrease in netrin-1 expression due to hyper-methylation of its gene can be associated with memory *** animal procedures were approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee,University of Louisville,USA(No.A3586-01) on February 2,2018.
