M5 model tree,random forest regression(RF)and neural network(NN)based modelling approaches were used to predict oblique load carrying capacity of batter pile groups using 247 laboratory experiments with smooth and rough pile *** length(L),angle of oblique load(a),sand density(ρ),number of batter piles(B),and number of vertical piles(V)as input and oblique load(Q)as output was *** suggest improved performance by RF regression for both pile groups.M5 model tree provides simple linear relation which can be used for the prediction of oblique load for field data *** developed using RF regression approach with smooth pile group data was found to be in good agreement for rough piles *** based approach was found performing equally well with both smooth and rough *** analysis using all three modelling approaches suggest angle of oblique load(a)and number of batter pile(B)affect the oblique load capacity for both smooth and rough pile groups.

The sustainability of prevailing maize-fallow system in rainfed ecosystems of the Eastern Himalayan region(EHR)of India is often questioned due to poor economic return and negative impact on soil ***,the six cropping systems,maize-fallow(M-F),maize t cowpea-rapeseed(M t C-Rs),maize t cowpea-buckwheat(M t C-Bw),maize t cowpea-barley(M t CeB),maize t cowpea-garden pea(M t C-GP)and maize t cowpeaerajmash(M t C-R)in the main plot and three soil moisture conservation measures,no-mulch(NM),maize stover mulch(MSM)and maize stover t weed biomass mulch(MSM t WBM)in sub-plot were evaluated for four consecutive years(2014-18)at a Research Farm in fixed plot *** indicated that cowpea co-culture with maize and inclusion of winter crop increased maize yield by 6.2e23.5%over *** the systems,the M t C-GP recorded the highest crop *** residual effect of MSM t WBM increased maize grain yield by 19.1%over *** of maize t cowpea-winter crops significantly improved the available N(3.2e12.9%),P(3.6 e12.7%),k(1.9e26.3%),organic carbon(9.2e16.8%),microbial biomass carbon-MBC(15.2e43.9%)and dehydrogenases-DHA(17.2e42.3%)in soil at 0e15 cm depth as compared to *** M t C-GP also recorded maximum net return(US$2460 ha1),benefit:cost(B:C)ratio(2.86)and energy use efficiency(7.9%).The MSM t WBM recorded higher net return(US$1680 ha1)and B:C ratio(2.46)over ***,cowpea t maize-garden pea(M t C-GP)along with the application of MSM t WBM is a sustainable production practice to intensify the organically managed maize-fallow system in rainfed regions of the EHR of India and other similar ecosystems.

An innovative idea of extracting kinetic energy from man-made wind resources using ducted turbine system for on-site power generation is introduced in this paper. A horizontal axis ducted turbine is attached to the top of the chimney to harness the kinetic energy of flue gases for producing electricity. The turbine system is positioned beyond the chimney outlet, to avoid any negative impact on the chimney performance. The convergentdivergent duct causes increase in the flue gas velocity and hence enhances the performance of the turbine. It also acts as a safety cover to the energy recovery system. The results from the CFD based simulation analysis indicate that sig- nificant power 34 kW can be harnessed from the chimney exhaust. The effect of airfoils NACA4412 and NACA4416 and the diffuser angle on the power extraction by the energy recovery system using a 6-bladed ducted turbine has been studied with the CFD simulation. It is observed that the average flue gas velocity in the duct section at the throat is approximately twice that of the inlet velocity, whereas maximum velocity achieved is 2.6 times the inlet velocity. The simulated results show that about power may be extracted from the chimney flue gases of 660 MW power plant. The system can be retrofitted to existing chimneys of thermal power plants, refineries and other industries.

This paper considers a nonsmooth semi-infinite minimax fractional programming problem（SIMFP） involving locally Lipschitz invex functions. The authors establish necessary optimality conditions for SIMFP. The authors establish the relationship between an optimal solution of SIMFP and saddle point of scalar Lagrange function for SIMFP. Further, the authors study saddle point criteria of a vector Lagrange function defined for SIMFP.

Mineralogy and textural impact on beneficiation of goethitic ore

The effect of mineralogy and texture on the beneficiation of goethitic ores from two different origins is highlighted. Sample A having 54.47% Fe with 8.57% loss of ignition （LOl） indicates the presence of vitreous and ochreous goethite, martite and microplaty hematite as the major minerals. Sample B contains 56.90% Fe with 14.4% LOI. There is a pisolithic laterite containing vitreous and ochreous goethite, quartz, kaolinitic clay and there is no hematite mineral. The liberated minerals in -150 ＋ 100 μm size class are 74% for Sample A and 37% only for Sample B which shows that the Sample A appears to be more amenable to beneficiate. A concentrate of 46.7% with 63.22% Fe could be recovered from Sample A while subjected to gravity separation followed by wet magnetic separation. The Sample B does not respond to gravity and magnetic separation due to its complex mineralogy. However, calcination of the Sample B followed by magnetic separation gives the encouraging results. Thus, anomalous behaviour of the goethite dominated ores in beneficiation is attributed to the different textural and liberation characteristic.

The new lanthanum (Ⅲ) and praseodymium (Ⅲ) complexes of the general formula [Ln(L)3] (Ln=La(Ⅲ) or Pr(Ⅲ); Lk=potassium salt of dithiocarbazinates) were prepared by both, conventional thermal and by the use of microwave technology. Elemental analyses, electrical conductance, magnetic moment and electronic, infrared, far-infrared, 1H and 13C NMR spectral studies were used to characterize the complexes. The molecular weights of few complexes were determined by FAB-mass spectra. Nephelauxetic ratio, covalency parameter and bonding parameter for these complexes were also calculated. The probable structures of the complexes were proposed. The antifungal and antibacterial activities of the complexes were evaluated. The activities were correlated with the structures of the compounds.

The lignite samples collected from Giral lignite field of Barmer basin have been subjected to petrological investigation. The data generated has been discussed to understand the evolution of the paleomires of these lignites. The present study reveals that these low rank C coals are chiefly composed of huminite group macerals, mainly telohuminite and detrohuminite, while liptinite and inertinite group macerals occur in subordinate amounts. Not much variation in the maceral composition from Seam-I to Seam-VIII has been observed. Barmer lignites are characterized by a very high GI （〉10） and moderate TPI indicating topogenous mire in the basin which was permanently flooded. The GI and TPI values and the petrography-based facies critical models indicate that these lignites originated mostly under wet forest swamp to clastic marsh having telmatic to limno-telmatic conditions with a moderate rate of subsidence and a very slow fall in ground water table. Further, the GWI and VI values are suggestive of mesotrophic to rheotrophic hydrological conditions having the dominance of herbaceous to marginal aquatic vegetation. There were spells of periodic drowning of peat especially during the formation of Seam-VII. Moderately high concentration of calcium in these lignites along with the presence of framboidal pyrite indicate enhanced sulphate-reducing bacterial activity present in carbonate and sulphate-rich waters in the basin during peat formation.

A new stable numerical method,based on Chebyshev wavelets for numerical evaluation of Hankel transform,is proposed in this *** Chebyshev wavelets are used as a basis to expand a part of the integrand,r f(r),appearing in the Hankel transform *** transforms the Hankel transform integral into a Fourier-Bessel *** truncating the series,an efficient and stable algorithm is obtained for the numerical evaluations of the Hankel transforms of order ν>−*** method is quite accurate and stable,as illustrated by given numerical examples with varying degree of random noise terms εθ_(i) added to the data function f(r),where θ_(i) is a uniform random variable with values in[−1,1].Finally,an application of the proposed method is given for solving the heat equation in an infinite cylinder with a radiation condition.

The problem of the creeping flow through a spherical droplet with a non-homogenous porous layer in a spherical container has been studied ***’s model for the flow inside the porous annular region and the Stokes equation for the flow inside the spherical cavity and container are used to analyze the *** drag force is exerted on the porous spherical particles enclosing a cavity,and the hydrodynamic permeability of the spherical droplet with a non-homogeneous porous layer is *** is placed on the spatially varying permeability of a porous medium,which is not covered in all the previous works related to spherical *** variation of hydrodynamic permeability and the wall effect with respect to various flow parameters are presented and discussed *** streamlines are presented to discuss the kinematics of the *** previous results for hydrodynamic permeability and drag forces have been verified as special limiting cases.
