In this paper,a frictional contact problem between an electro-elastic body and an electrically conductive foundation is studied.The contact is modeled by normal compliance with finite penetration and a version of Coulomb’s law of dry friction in which the coefficient of friction depends on the slip.In addition,the effects of the electrical conductivity of the foundation are taken into account.This model leads to a coupled system of the quasi-variational inequality of the elliptic type for the displacement and the nonlinear variational equation for the electric potential.The existence of a weak solution is proved by using an abstract result for elliptic variational inequalities and a fixed point argument.Then,a finite element approximation of the problem is presented.Under some regularity conditions,an optimal order error estimate of the approximate solution is derived.Finally,a successive iteration technique is used to solve the problem numerically and a convergence result is established.

BACkGROUND Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD)is a liver condition marked by excessive fat buildup in the absence of heavy alcohol use.It is primarily linked with metabolic issues like insulin resistance,obesity,and abnormal lipid levels,and is often observed with other conditions such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.However,whether the subtypes of MAFLD based on the metabolic disorder differentially impact liver fibrosis is not well explicated,especially in the Asian population.AIM To compare the severity of liver fibrosis among different MAFLD subtypes.METHODS A total of 322 adult patients of either gender with fatty liver on ultrasound were enrolled between January to December 2021.MAFLD was defined as per the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver guidelines.Fibrosis-4 index(Fib-4)and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease fibrosis score(NFS)were employed to evaluate liver fibrosis.RESULTS The mean age was 44.84±11 years.Seventy-two percent of the patients were female.Two hundred and seventy-three patients were classified as having MAFLD,of which 110(40.3%)carried a single,129(47.3%)had two,and 34(12.5%)had all three metabolic conditions.The cumulative number of metabolic conditions was related to elevated body mass index,triglyceride(TG)levels,and glycated hemoglobin,lower high-density lipoprotein(HDL)levels,higher liver inflammation(by aspartate aminotransferase andγ-glutamyl transferase),and higher likelihood of fibrosis(by NFS and Fib-4 scores)(P<0.05 for all).The proportion of advanced fibrosis also increased with an increase in the number of metabolic conditions(4.1%,25.5%,35.6%,and 44.1%by NFS and 6.1%,10.9%,17%,and 26.5%by Fib-4 for no MAFLD and MAFLD with 1,2,and 3 conditions,respectively).Among MAFLD patients,those with diabetes alone were the eldest and had the highest mean value of NFS score and Fib-4 score(P<0.05),while MAFLD patients diagnosed with lean metabolic dysfunction exhibited the highest levels of TG and alanine aminotransferase but the lowest HDL level

Background: Critical Thinking (CT) dispositions in nursing are prominent predictors of competence in delivering high-quality care, and of professionalism, in newly graduated nurses. CT skills, in isolation of CT dispositions, do not guarantee success in the workplace, because Critical Thinking Dispositions (CTD) are important elements of intellectual reasoning that simulate a person towards using the CT skills. Therefore, nursing educational programs should promote lifelong learning rather than focusing on transferring the content of nursing knowledge only. And for this purpose, quality education is the key. Education should focus on teaching from diverse perspectives, incorporating various teaching learning strategies that are congruent with the modern era. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore critical thinking dispositions among final year Baccalaureate Nursing students of various military colleges of nursing, in Pakistan. Methodology: A descriptive qualitative exploratory study design was used to investigate the CTD of BSc final year nursing students. The study population included twelve willing nursing students, from six military colleges across the country. Demographic information and consent was taken from the participants of the study. In-depth interviews, through a semi structured interview guide, and probes were used to obtain data related to personal experiences of CTD amongst the nursing students. Results: Data analysis showed two broad themes: 1) Perceptions of CT, and 2) Experiences of CT dispositions. In theme one, the emerging category was: Clarity of CT;whereas in theme two, the categories that emerged were: a) Truth Seeking, b) Open Mindedness, c) Inquisitiveness, and d) Self Organization. Conclusion: The findings of the study revealed positive dispositions towards truth seeking, open mindedness, and self-organization, whereas disposition towards inquisitiveness was weak. The unsteady magnetohydrodynamic flow of an electrically conducting viscous incompressible third grade fluid bounded by an infinite porous plate is studied with the Hall effect. An external uniform magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the plate and the fluid motion is subjected to a uniform suction and injection. Similarity transformations are employed to reduce the non-linear equations governing the flow under discussion to two ordinary differential equations （with and without dispersion terms）. Using the finite difference scheme, numerical solutions represented by graphs with reference to the various involved parameters of interest are discussed and appropriate conclusions are drawn.

Risk factors and outcomes of peptic ulcer bleed in a Pakistani population:A single-center observational study

BACkGROUND Peptic ulcer disease(PUD)remains a significant healthcare burden,contributing to morbidity and mortality worldwide.Despite advancements in therapies,its prevalence persists,particularly in regions with widespread nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs(NSAIDs)use and Helicobacter pylori infection.AIM To comprehensively analyse the risk factors and outcomes of PUD-related upper gastrointestinal(GI)bleeding in Pakistani population.METHODS This retrospective cohort study included 142 patients with peptic ulcer bleeding who underwent upper GI endoscopy from January to December 2022.Data on demographics,symptoms,length of stay,mortality,re-bleed,and Forrest classification was collected.RESULTS The mean age of patients was 53 years,and the majority was men(68.3%).Hematemesis(82.4%)and epigastric pain(75.4%)were the most common presenting symptoms.Most patients(73.2%)were discharged within five days.The mortality rates at one week and one month were 10.6%and 14.8%,respectively.Re-bleed within 24 h and seven days occurred in 14.1%and 18.3%of patients,respectively.Most ulcers were Forrest class(FC)Ⅲ(72.5%).Antiplatelet use was associated with higher mortality at 7 and 30 d,while alternative medications were linked to higher 24-hour re-bleed rates.NSAID use was associated with more FCⅢulcers.Re-bleed at 24 h and 7 d was strongly associated with one-week or one-month mortality.CONCLUSION Antiplatelet use and rebleeding increase the risk of early mortality in PUD-related upper GI bleeding,while alternative medicines are associated with early rebleeding.

First,we studied the invariance properties of the kadomstev–Petviashvili equation with power law nonlinearity.Then,we determined the complete class of conservation laws and stated the corresponding conserved densities which are useful in finding the conserved quantities of the equation.The point symmetry generators were also used to reduce the equation to an exact solution and to verify the invariance properties of the conserved flows.

采用不同道次等通道侧向挤压(DECLE)和板材挤压成形发制备细晶Zk60合金板材。经过3和5道次DECLE和后续挤压后,退火样品中的粗大晶粒(68μm)分别变为6.0μm和5.2μm的细小晶粒。基于冲孔剪切实验(SPT)结果建立本构方程,研究合金的热剪切变形行为。SPT的温度范围为200~300℃,应变率范围为0.003~0.33 s^(−1)。计算结果表明,所有条件下制备的样品的活化能为125~139 kJ/mol,应力指数为3.5~4.2,表明主要的热变形机制是位错蠕变,由位错攀移和溶质拖曳机制控制。材料常数n和Q取决于晶粒尺寸,第二相颗粒比例等微观结构因素,通过三维曲面曲线预测了二者的关系。此外,挤压后的Zk60板材具有相似的强基面织构,因此,合金在SPT过程中具有相同的变形机制与相近的n和Q值。
