Unveiling an S-scheme f–Co_(3)O_(4)@Bi_(2)WO_(6) heterojunction for robust water purification

Devising a desirable nano-heterostructured photoelectrode based on the charge transfer kinetics mechanism is a pivotal strategy for implementing efficient photoelectrocatalytic(PEC)technology,since the charge separation and utilization efficiency of a photoelectrode is critical to its PEC ***,we fabricate a f–Co_(3)O_(4)@Bi_(2)WO_(6) core–shell hetero-array photoanode by coupling Bi_(2)WO_(6) nanosheets with f–Co_(3)O_(4) nanowires using a simple solvothermal solution *** three-dimensional hierarchical heterostructure has a homogeneous chemical interface,helping it to promote an S-scheme-based carrier transport kinetics and maintain excellent cycling *** density difference calculations verify the electron migration trend from f–Co_(3)O_(4) to Bi_(2)WO_(6) upon hybridization and the formation of an internal electric field in the heterojunction,consistent with the S-scheme mechanism,which is identified by in situ irradiation X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and by ultraviolet photoelectron *** optimized f–Co_(3)O_(4)@Bi_(2)WO_(6)-2 photoelectrode achieves high carrier utilization efficiency and exhibits superior PEC degradation performance for various organic pollutants,including reactive brilliant blue kN-R,rhodamine B,sulfamethoxazole,and bisphenol *** work not only reveals that f–Co_(3)O_(4)@Bi_(2)WO_(6)-2 is effective for PEC water remediation but also provides a strategy to enhance carrier transport kinetics by designing binary oxides.

Immunomodulatory function of Pien Tze Huang in T Cell-Mediated Anti-tumor Activity against B16-f10,MC38 and Hep1-6 Tumor Models

Objective To investigate the anti-tumor effects of Pien Tze Huang(PZH)in mouse models of B16–f10 melanoma,MC38 colorectal cancer,Hep1-6 hepatocellular carcinoma and chemically induced hepatocellular carcinoma *** Various tumor models,including B16–f10,MC38 and Hep1-6 tumor hypodermic inoculation models,B16–f10 and Hep1-6 pulmonary metastasis models,Hep1-6 orthotopic implantation model,and chemically induced hepatocellular carcinoma model,were utilized to evaluate the anti-tumor function of *** growth was assessed by measuring tumor size and weight of solid tumors isolated from C57BL/6 *** cell proliferation and death of tumor cells in vitro,as well as T cell activation markers,cytokine production and immune checkpoints analysis,single-cell suspensions were prepared from mouse spleen,lymph nodes,and tumors after PZH *** PZH demonstrated significant therapeutic efficacy in inhibiting tumor growth(Pf10 melanoma models,and decreased pulmonary metastasis of B16–f10 melanoma and Hep1-6 hepatoma(Pferation and survival of tumor cells(P>0.05).Nevertheless,PZH exhibited a remarkable ability to enhance T cell activation and the production of interferon gamma,tumor necrosis factor alpha,and interleukin 2 in CD4^(+)T cells in vitro(Pkine production by tumor-infiltrating CD8^(+)T cells(Pfirmed a novel immunomodulatory function of PZH in T cell-mediated anti-tumor immunity,indicating that PZH holds promise as a potential therapeutic agent for cancer treatment.

Monogenic features of urolithiasis: A comprehensive review

Objective: Urolithiasis formation has been attributed to environmental and dietary factors. However, evidence is accumulating that genetic background can contribute to urolithiasis formation. Advancements in the identification of monogenic causes using high-throughput sequencing technologies have shown that urolithiasis has a strong heritable ***: This review describes monogenic factors implicated in a genetic predisposition to urolithiasis. Peer-reviewed journals were evaluated by a PubMed search until July 2023 to summarize disorders associated with monogenic traits, and discuss clinical implications of identification of patients genetically susceptible to urolithiasis ***: Given that more than 80% of urolithiases cases are associated with calcium accumulation, studies have focused mainly on monogenetic contributors to hypercalciuric urolithiases, leading to the identification of receptors, channels, and transporters involved in the regulation of calcium renal tubular reabsorption. Nevertheless, available candidate genes and linkage methods have a low resolution for evaluation of the effects of genetic components versus those of environmental, dietary, and hormonal factors, and genotypes remain undetermined in the majority of urolithiasis ***: The pathophysiology underlying urolithiasis formation is complex and multifactorial, but evidence strongly suggests the existence of numerous monogenic causes of urolithiasis in humans.

Socioecological inequity in environmental data science—such as inequities deriving from data-driven approaches and machine learning(ML)—are current issues subject to debate and *** is growing consensus around embedding equity throughout all research and design domains—from inception to administration,while also addressing procedural,distributive,and recognitional ***,practically doing so may seem onerous or daunting to *** current perspective helps to alleviate these types of concerns by providing substantiation for the connection between environmental data science and socioecological inequity,using the Systemic Equity framework,and provides the foundation for a paradigmatic shift toward normalizing the use of equity-centered approaches in environmental data science and ML *** the integrity of environmental data science and ML is just beginning from an equity-centered tool development and rigorous application *** this end,this perspective also provides relevant future directions and challenges by overviewing some meaningful tools and strategies—such as applying the Wells-Du Bois Protocol,employing fairness metrics,and systematically addressing irreproducibility;emerging needs and proposals—such as addressing data-proxy bias and supporting convergence research;and establishes a ten-step path ***,the work that environmental scientists and engineers do ultimately affect the well-being of us all.

Molecular oxygen abundance is a key parameter in understanding the chemical network of the interstellar *** estimate the molecular oxygen column density and abundance for a sample of Galactic massive star formation regions based on observations from the Submillimiter Wave Astronomy Satellite(SWAS)*** obtained an averaged O_(2)spectrum based on this sample using the(SWAS)survey data(O_(2),487.249 GHz,N=3-1,J=3-2).No emission or absorption feature is seen around the supposed central velocity with a total integration time of t_(total)=8.67×10^(3)hr and an rms noise per channel of 1.45 m *** a kinetic temperature T_(kin)=30 k,we derive the 3σupper limit of the O_(2)column density to be 3.3×10^(15)cm^(-2),close to the lowest values reported in Galactic massive star formation regions in previous *** corresponding O_(2)abundance upper limit is6.7×10^(-8),lower than all previous results based on SWAS observations and is close to the lowest reported value in massive star formation *** a galactic scale,our statistical results confirm a generally low O_(2)abundance for Galactic massive star formation *** abundance is also lower than results reported in extragalactic sources.

Optimized Binary Neural Networks for Road Anomaly Detection:A TinyML Approach on Edge Devices

Enhanced stability of nitrogen-doped carbon-supported palladium catalyst for oxidative carbonylation of phenol

Enhancing the stability of supported noble metal catalysts emerges is a major challenge in both science and ***,a heterogeneous Pd catalyst(Pd/NCf)was prepared by supporting Pd ultrafine metal nanoparticles(NPs)on nitrogen-doped carbon;synthesized by using f127 as a stabilizer,as well as chitosan as a carbon and nitrogen *** Pd/NCf catalyst was efficient and recyclable for oxidative carbonylation of phenol to diphenyl carbonate,exhibiting higher stability than Pd/NC prepared without f127 *** hydrogen bond between chitosan(CTS)and f127 was enhanced by f127,which anchored the N in the free amino group,increasing the N content of the carbon material and ensuring that the support could provide sufficient N sites for the deposition of Pd *** process helped to improve metal *** increased metal-support interaction,which limits the leaching and coarsening of Pd NPs,improves the stability of the Pd/NCf ***,density functional theory calculations indicated that pyridine N stabilized the Pd^(2+)species,significantly inhibiting the loss of Pd^(2+)in Pd/NCf during the reaction *** work provides a promising avenue towards enhancing the stability of nitrogen-doped carbon-supported metal catalysts.

Study on synergistic leaching of potassium and phosphorus from potassium feldspar and solid waste phosphogypsum via coupling reactions

To achieve the resource utilization of solid waste phosphogypsum(PG)and tackle the problem of utilizing potassium feldspar(Pf),a coupled synergistic process between PG and Pf is proposed in this *** study investigates the features of P and f in PG,and explores the decomposition of Pf using hydrofluoric acid(Hf)in the sulfuric acid system for k leaching and leaching of P and f in *** impact factors such as sulfuric acid concentration,reaction temperature,reaction time,material ratio(PG/Pf),liquid–solid ratio,Pf particle size,and Pf calcination temperature on the leaching of P and k is systematically investigated in this *** results show that under optimal conditions,the leaching rate of k and P reach more than 93%and 96%,*** study using shrinking core model(SCM)indicates two significant stages with internal diffusion predominantly controlling the leaching of *** apparent activation energies of these two stages are 11.92 kJ·mol^(-1)and 11.55 kJ·mol^(-1),respectively.

Screening COVID-19 from chest X-ray images by an optical diffractive neural network with the optimized f number

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to significantly impact people's lives worldwide, emphasizing the critical need for effective detection methods. Many existing deep learning-based approaches for COVID-19 detection offer high accuracy but demand substantial computing resources, time, and energy. In this study, we introduce an optical diffractive neural network(ODNN-COVID), which is characterized by low power consumption, efficient parallelization, and fast computing speed for COVID-19 detection. In addition, we explore how the physical parameters of ODNN-COVID affect its diagnostic performance. We identify the f number as a key parameter for evaluating the overall detection capabilities. Through an assessment of the connectivity of the diffractive network, we established an optimized range of f number, offering guidance for constructing optical diffractive neural networks. In the numerical simulations, a three-layer system achieves an impressive overall accuracy of 92.64% and 88.89% in binary-and threeclassification diagnostic tasks. for a single-layer system, the simulation accuracy of 84.17% and the experimental accuracy of 80.83% can be obtained with the same configuration for the binary-classification task, and the simulation accuracy is 80.19% and the experimental accuracy is 74.44% for the three-classification task. Both simulations and experiments validate that the proposed optical diffractive neural network serves as a passive optical processor for effective COVID-19 diagnosis, featuring low power consumption, high parallelization, and fast computing capabilities. furthermore, ODNN-COVID exhibits versatility, making it adaptable to various image analysis and object classification tasks related to medical fields owing to its general architecture.
