A Bowman-Birk inhibitor with activity against gut proteases of Helicoverpa armigera was extracted in 0.I M sodium phosphate buffer from defatted seed flour of Albizia lebbeck. It was purified to 29.62 folds with 51.43% recovery using ammonium sulfate precipitation, gel filtration chromatography on Sephadex G-100 column and ion ex- change chromatography on DEAE-Sephadex As0. The purified protein had a molecular weight of 12,303 daltons as determined by SDS-PAGE. It was found to be heat stable up to 60~C and had two pH optima of 7.5 and 9.0. The inhibitor exhibited non-competitive pattern of inhibition with a low ki value of 0.2 ~tM. The inhibitoi- was found to be susceptible to varying concentrations of reducing agents like DTT and 2- mercaptoethanol, thereby indicating the role of disulphide bridges in maintaining its three dimensional structure and stability. The purified inhibitor caused mortality and suppressed larval growth ofPieris brassi- cae larvae. It was also found to be effective against gut trypsin extracted from Spodoptera littoralis. The sequence of the genes encoding for such inhibitors can be determined and the genes expressing protease inhibitors can be used in vegetable crops to confer resistance against insect pests and other plant pathogens.

A junctionless transistor is emerging as a most promising device for the future technology in the decananometer regime. To explore and exploit the behavior completely, the understanding of gate tunneling current is of great importance. In this paper we have explored the gate tunneling current of a double gate junctionless transistor（DGJLT） for the first time through an analytical model, to meet the future requirement of expected high-k gate dielectric material that could replace SiO2. We therefore present the high-k gate stacked architecture of the DGJLT to minimize the gate tunneling current. This paper also demonstrates the impact of conduction band offset,workfunction difference and k-values on the tunneling current of the DGJLT.

The relationship between the all-India summer monsoon rainfall and surface pressure over the Indian region has been examined to obtain a useful predictor for the monsoon rainfall. The data series of all-India monsoon rainfall and the mean pressures of three seasons before and after the monsoon season as well as the winter-to-spring pressure tendency (MAM-DJF) at 100 stations for the period 1951-1980 have been used in the *** all-India monsoon rainfall is negatively correlated with the pressure of the spring (MAM) season preceding the monsoon and winter-to-spring seasonal difference as pressure tendency (MAM-DJF), at almost all the stations in India, and significantly with the pressures over central and northwestern regions. The average mean sea level pressure of six stations (Jodhpur, Ahmedabed, Bombay, Indore, Sagar and Akola) in the Western Central Indian (WCI) region showed highly significant (at 1% level) and consistent CCs of-0.63 for MAM and -0.56 for MAM-DJF for the period 1951 - 1980. Thus, the pre-monsoon seasonal pressure anomalies over WCI could provide a useful parameter for the long-range forecasting scheme of the Indian monsoon rainfall.

The empirical investigation that examines the dynamics including the interaction between consumption of energy and economic progress has long been ***,the interaction of these two in developing countries in general and Bangladesh,in particular,is a less explored ***,with this notion,this study examined the causal relationship among economic growth and energy consumption in *** this purpose,the study used energy consumption,gross domestic product(GDP),labor force,and capital data from 1981 to 2017 from different sources and data is analyzed by augmented Dickey-Fuller(ADF)unit root test,Johansen co-integration test and Granger test of *** determine that energy consumption and economic growth have long term bi-directional *** econometric model is estimated using generalized least squares(GLS)*** is concluded that,consumption of energy and economic growth positively correlated and economic development highly depend on energy consumption in Bangladesh.

OBJECTIVE： To provide in vitro evidence of Psorinum treatment against cancer cells in a controlled study. METHODS： Effects of homeopathic Psorinum 6× on cell viability were initially determined in several cancer cell lines, including A549, Hep G2 and MCF-7, using 3-（4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl）-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay, and an ethanol 6× control. The cell line that exhibited highest inhibition was selected and used in the following experiments. A range of Psorinum 6× doses was used to explore treatment effects on cell cycle arrest, cell death（apoptosis）, generation of reactive oxygen species（ROS） and change in mitochondrial membrane potential（MMP） using fl ow cytometry and fl uorescence microscopy, respectively. Expression of several signal proteins related to apoptosis and cell survival were quantified with Western blotting and confocal microscopy. Further, circular dichroism（CD） spectroscopy was used to determine possible drug-DNA interactions, as well as the induction of conformational changes. RESULTS： Treatment of cancer cell lines with Psorinum showed greater anticancer effects in A549 cells than in others. In A549 cells Psorinum treatment inhibited cell proliferation at 24 h after treatment, and arrested cell cycle at sub-G1 stage. It also induced ROS generation, MMP depolarization, morphological changes and DNA damage, as well as externalization of phosphatidyl serine. Further, increases in p53 expression, Bax expression, cytochrome c release, along with reduction of Bcl-2 level and caspase-3 activation were observed after Psorinum 6× treatment, which eventually drove A549 cells towards the mitochondria-mediated caspase-3-dependent pathway. CD spectroscopy revealed direct interaction of Psorinum with DNA, using calf thymus-DNA as ***： Psorinum 6× triggered apoptosis in A549 cells via both up- and down-regulations of relevant signal proteins, including p53, caspase-3, Bax and Bcl-2.

Hard Winter Wheat and Flour Properties in Relation to Breadmaking Quality of Straight-dough Bread:Flour Particle Size and Bread Crumb Grain

Samples of 12 hard winter wheats and their flours that produced breads varying in crumb grain scores were studied for 38 quality parameters including: wheat physical and chemical characteristics; flour ash and protein contents,starch damage,swelling power,pasting characteristics,and flour particle size distribution; dough properties determined by a mixograph; and breadmaking properties for pup loaves (100g flour). Only two parameters,the protein content of wheat and the granulation of flour,showed significant correlations with bread crumb grain scores. Protein content of wheat ranging 12.9%～14.5% determined by an NIR method showed a weak inverse relationship (r =-0.61,p<0.05) with bread crumb grain score. Flour particle size distribution measured by both Alpine Air Jet Sieve and NIR methods revealed that the weight wt % of particles less than 38μm in size and representing 9.6%～19.3% of the flour weights was correlated positively (r =0 .78,p<0.01) with crumb grain score,whereas wt % of flour particles larger than 125μm had an inverse relationship (r =-0.60,p<0.05) with crumb grain score.

Induction motor driven by vector control method makes high performance control of torque and speed possible. The decoupling of flux and electromag netic torque obtained by field orientation depends on the precision and the accuracy of the estimated states. Rotor asymmetries lead to perturbations of air gap flux patterns in induction machines. These perturbations in flux compo nents affect the electromagnetic torque, as well as stator currents and voltages. This paper first investigates the control of the induction motor using an extended kalman filter （EkF） for a direct fieldoriented control. It then studies the broken rotor bars （BRBs） fault by the monitoring the rotor resistance. The hypothesis on which the detection is based is that the apparent rotor resistance of the motor will increase when a rotor bar breaks. The rotor resistance is estimated and value to detect BRBs fault. compared with its nominal The EkF estimates the rotor flux, speed and rotor resistance on line by using only measurements of the stator voltages and currents. Simula tion results show the effectiveness of the proposed method in the cases of load torque perturbation and speed reversion.
