We report on an experiment performed at the FLASh2 free-electron laser(FEL)aimed at producing warm dense matter via soft x-ray isochoric *** the experiment,we focus on study of the ions emitted during the soft x-ray ablation process using time-of-flight electron multipliers and a shifted Maxwell–Boltzmann velocity distribution *** find that most emitted ions are thermal,but that some impurities chemisorbed on the target surface,such as protons,are accelerated by the electrostatic field created in the plasma by escaped *** morphology of the complex crater structure indicates the presence of several ion groups with varying *** find that the ion sound velocity is controlled by the ion temperature and show how the ion yield depends on the FEL radiation attenuation length in different materials.

Two structurally characterized metal-cluster-centered supramolecular architectures named [Ag8（1,2-（C= C）2-C6h4）（Py[6]）（CF3CO2）6]·2.5MeOh （1） and [Ag12（1,2,4,5-（C=C）aC6h2）（Py[6]）2（CF3SO3）s]·4MeOh·3h2O （2） are synthesized through the interaction with a bowl-shaped macrocyclic ligand PyI61. Particularly, two dissimilar silver（I） clusters are resulted in 2 within the structure under the influence of the macrocyclic ligand Py[6]. Such dissimilarity of the silver（1） cluster is also reflected on the structural and photophysical differences between 1 and 2.

Among the most prominent, large-scale patterns of species richness are the increases in richness with decreasing latitude and with increasing habitat heterogeneity. Using the stream-dwelling larval and pupal stages of North American black flies （Diptera： Simuliidae）, we address 3 broad questions about species richness：（i） Does a significant latitude-richness relationship exist？（ii） how does habitat heterogeneity influence gamma diversity？（iii） What is the sign （positive or negative） of the latitude-richness and the heterogeneity-richness relationships？ We found no evidence that habitat heterogeneity influences gamma diversity. The estimated peak species richness for black flies in North America was at 50-53°N, which also corresponds with peak generic richness. All plesiomorphic, extant lineages of the Simuliidae in the Western hemisphere are found in cool mountainous environments of North America, suggesting that peak richness at 50-53°N might be a signature of this phylogenetic pattern and a reflection of underlying historical processes

Persian shallot has been propagated vegetatively through daughter bulbs and has a narrow genetic *** the present study,to create genetic diversity in terms of ploidy level,the effects of in vitro polyploidization were investigated on morphological,physiological and phytochemical *** colchicine treatments(0,0.3%,0.5% and 0.7% concentrations)for 24,36 and 48 h and oryzalin treatments(0,0.001%,0.002% and 0.004% concentrations)for 4,6 and 8 h were used.A sterile basal plate of bulbs was used for the induction of polyploidy in liquid and solid *** obtaining plantlets,root tip chromosomes were counted for the determination of ploidy *** cytometry was performed to confirm the chromosome counting *** regenerated diploid and tetraploid plantlets were transferred to ex vitro *** and oryzalin were both successful in inducing polyploids and the polyploids induced were tetraploids and *** highest induction of polyploidy was obtained in solid media using 0.5%(w/v)colchicine for 36 h(35.0% polyploidy induction)and in 0.001%(w/v)Oryzalin for 8 h(45.5% polyploidy induction).Differences in plantlet height and weight,bulblet weight,density,stomatal width and length,and chlorophyll content were observed between tetraploid and diploid *** duplication,as a result of tetraploid induction,significantly influenced the antioxidant content and enzyme *** results showed that total phenolic content,allicin,and antioxidant capacity were significantly higher in the tetraploid plantlets than that in the diploid *** loci polymorphisms indicated that the 12 autotetraploid plants(with high allicin content)had different genotypes from the parental diploid ***,in vitro polyploidy induction not only duplicated chromosomes but also altered the DNA sequence in Allium *** vitro induction of tetraploids in *** can be a reliable way to obtain suitable plant material for bre

Mechanical alloying (MA), a solid-state powder processing method, is a 'far from equilibrium' synthesis technique which allows development of novel crystal structures and microstructures, leading to enhanced physical and mechanical properties. The ability to synthesize a variety of alloy phases including supersaturated solid solutions, nanocrystalline structures, amorphous phases and intermetallic compounds themselves is discussed. No extension of solubility using MA has been observed in the intermetallics studied. Nanostructured grains were observed in all compositions. Long time milling generally resulted in amorphous phase formation in large part because of the increase in grain boundary energy/mole with reduced grain size; good agreement with the Miedema model for amorphization was obtained in the Al-Fe system. Generally an anneal was required to form the intermetallic after MA; however,intermetallics with a large negative enthalpy of formation were detected in the MA condition. A study of the hot isostatic pressing of γ-TiAl powders produced by MA demonstrated that full density can be achieved at least 400℃ below the normal temperature required for conventional powder, that is 725℃ or below. Nanometered sized grains (≤100nm)were observed after hIP'ing up to 850℃.

Purification of Single-walled Carbon Nanotubes Grown by a Chemical Vapour Deposition(CVD) Method

A procedure for purification of single walled carbon nanotubes(SWNTs) grown by the chemical vapour deposition(CVD) of carbon monooxide has been developed. Based on the result from TGA/DTA of as prepared sample, the oxidation temperature was determined. The process included sonication, oxidation and acid washing steps. The purity and yield after purification were determined and estimated by TEM. Moreover, for the first time, a loop structure for CVD SWNTs has been observed.

The rare earth elements(REE)are critical raw materials for much of modern technology,particularly renewable energy infrastructure and electric vehicles that are vital for the energy *** of the world's largest REE deposits occur in alkaline rocks and carbonatites,which are found in intracontinental,rift-related settings,and also in syn-to post-collisional ***-collisional settings host significant REE deposits,such as those of the Mianning-Dechang belt in *** paper reviews REE mineralization in syn-to post-collisional alkaline-carbonatite complexes worldwide,in order to demonstrate some of the key physical and chemical features of these *** use three examples,in Scotland,Namibia,and Turkey,to illustrate the structure of these *** review published geochemical data and use these to build up a broad model for the REE mineral system in post-collisional alkaline-carbonatite *** is evident that immiscibility of carbonate-rich magmas and fluids plays an important part in generating mineralization in these settings,with REE,Ba and F partitioning into the carbonate-rich *** most significant REE mineralization in post-collisional alkaline-carbonatite complexes occurs in shallow-level,carbothermal or carbonatite intrusions,but deeper carbonatite bodies and associated alteration zones may also have REE enrichment.
