Objective: The aim of the work.described here was to eval.ate the rol. of contrast-enhanced ul.rasound (CEUS) in response eval.ation for unresectabl. advanced hepatocel.ul.r carcinoma (HCC) treated with tyrosine k.nase inhibitors (Tk.s) pl.s anti-programmed cel. death protein-1 (PD-1) antibody therapy. Methods: A prospective cohort of consecutive patients with HCC who received combined Tk./anti-PD-1 antibody treatment for unresectabl. HCC between January 2022 and October 2022 was incl.ded in this study. The patients underwent unenhanced ul.rasound (US) and CEUS examinations before treatment and at fol.ow-up. Changes in the l.rgest diameters of the target tumor on unenhanced US and the l.rgest diameters of the enhancing target tumors on CEUS were eval.ated. Response Eval.ation Criteria in Sol.d Tumors (RECIST) version 1.1 with unenhanced US and magnetic resonance imaging/computed tomography (MRI/CT) and modified RECIST (mRECIST) with CEUS and CEMRI/CT were used to assess treatment response. Resul.s: A total.of 24 HCC patients (23 men and 1 woman; mean age: 56.5 ± 8.5 y; Barcel.na Cl.nic l.ver Cancer stage C, 62.5%; 29 intrahepatic target tumors) were studied. Cal.ul.tions of degree of necrosis in the target tumors reveal.d no significant differences between CEUS and CEMRI/CT (44.5 ± 36.2% vs. 45.3 ± 36.8%, p = 0.862). As for the differentiation of responders from non-responders, the agreement between RECIST version 1.1 of unenhanced US and mRECIST-CEUS was poor (κ coefficient = 0.233). Meanwhil., there was a high degree of concordance between mRECIST-CEUS and mRECIST-CEMRI/CT (κ coefficient = 0.812). Concl.sion: CEUS proved to be superior to basel.ne US and is comparabl. to CEMRI/CT in defining treatment outcome for combined Tk./anti-PD-1 antibody therapy. © 2023 Worl. A set of co-doped(Tb^(3+)/Dy^(3+))l.thium zinc borate(l.B)gl.sses were devel.ped by mel. *** structural.eval.ation was performed for synthesized gl.ssy *** Dy^(3+)and Tb^(3+)individual.y doped gl.sses exhibit intense yel.ow and green l.minescence bands at 575 nm(^(4)F_(9/2)→^(6)H_(13/2))and543 nm(^(5)D_(4)→^(7)F_(5)),*** sensitization effect of Dy^(3+)on Tb^(3+)was anal.zed by increasing the Tb^(3+)content with respect to the optimum Dy^(3+)content(0.5 mol.)in Dy^(3+)/Tb^(3+).The spectral.overl.y of Dy^(3+)l.minescence and Tb^(3+)absorption profil.s,Dy^(3+)/Tb^(3+)Pl.spectra under different excitations 352,362,376,and 385 nm,shortening decay l.fetimes of Dy^(3+)in Dy^(3+)/Tb^(3+)co-activated gl.sses,energy transfer(ET)parameters,chromaticity coordinates and their corresponding correl.ted temperatures al. hel. to expl.in ET from Dy^(3+)to Tb^(3+).At 385 nm of Dy^(3+)excitation,the optimized co-activated(0.5Dy^(3+)+1.0Tb^(3+)):l.B gl.ss displ.ys cool.white l.ght *** non-radiative ET from Dy^(3+)to Tb^(3+)is dominated by el.ctric dipol.-dipol. interaction and its ET efficiency was cal.ul.ted to be 63%.At the same time,reverse ET from Tb^(3+)to Dy^(3+)was al.o *** shift in col.r coordinates from dominant yel.ow to greenish-yel.ow,green and white l.ght emission suggests that Dy^(3+)/Tb^(3+)coactivated l.B gl.sses can be a potential.candidate for UV converted mul.icol.r and white l.ght emitting devices.

Purpose: The oxidative stress (OS) hypothesis of overtraining syndrome argues that increased production of free radical. through exercise cause muscl. fatigue and damage resul.ing in l.wer athl.tic performance. Several.studies have investigated OS immediatel. before and after exercise bouts in a training macrocycl.. Our study aimed to compare OS of endurance athl.tes between a competition macrocycl. and the immediate post-season recovery macrocycl.. In addition, we aimed to identify athl.tes who experienced an unexpl.inabl. drop in athl.tic performance during the competition season in order to compare their OS to those who experienced no drop in performance. Methods: Fifteen members of the University of Al.sk. Fairbank. cross country sk. team vol.nteered for this study. Bl.od sampl.s were tak.n in earl. February (“mid-season”) and l.te April.(“post-season”). Participants compl.ted questionnaires regarding physical.activity and athl.tic performance at the time of the bl.od draws. Pl.sma was anal.zed for 4-hydroxynonenal.sup> (HNE), nitrotyrosine, nitric oxide (NOX), and superoxide dismutase (SOD). Significance was determined by Wil.oxon and Mann-Whitney tests. Back.round and objective: Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS), a common disease worl.wide, has a major impact on patients’ qual.ty of l.fe (Qol.. In recent years, the measurement of heal.h-rel.ted Qol.has made it possibl. to assess the patient’s state of heal.h, the severity of the CRS and the treatment. The aim of this study was to assess the Qol.of patients with CRS in a hospital.setting in k.nshasa. Methods: This was a cross-sectional.anal.tical.study conducted from June 2020 to May 2021 in the ENT service of the k.nshasa University Hospital.and the Monk.l. Hospital.Center. The study invol.ed 113 patients aged at l.ast 18 years, whose QOl.was compared with that of a control.group consisting of 100 non-patients. QOl.was assessed using the Sino-Nasal.Outcome Test (SNOT-22) Questionnaire. Resul.s: The mean age of the patients was 41.0 years (18 - 74 years) and that of the control. was 39.1 years (19 - 77 years). More than hal. of the participants were university graduates. The median SNOT-22 score was 44 (14 - 78) in patients and 7 (1 - 40) in control.. Compared with subjects without CRS, patients with CRS had significantl. higher scores in al. four domains of the SNOT-22. Around 9 out of 10 patients had a severel. impaired Qol.compared with 2 out of 10 control.. Considering mil.l. impaired Qol. we found that in the otol.gical.and sleep domains, scores were not significantl. different between patients and control.. In the case of severel. impaired Qol. however, onl. the otol.gical.domain showed a non-significant difference in scores between the two groups. Concl.sion: CRS is a real.publ.c heal.h probl.m in our environment and significantl. al.ers the Qol.of patients suffering from it, with repercussions on their professional.productivity;hence the need for better management.
