k.y elements required to publish a good article:consensus among executive editors of Traditional Chinese Medicine and integrative medicine journals——a Delphi study

OBJECTIVE:To explore consensus among Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)/ integrative medicine(IM) journal executive editors in China regarding:(a)Their perceptions about the differences between papers published in Chinese/English journals;(b)the k.y elements required for publishing a good quality paper;(c) how editors manage and decide on the manuscripts submitted to their ***:A three classic round Delphi was conducted with a purposive sample of TCIWIM Chinese journal executive *** k.y themes and items generated from six open ended questions in the first round were redistributed to the editors in two subsequent questionnaire rounds and scored on a five-point Lik.rt ***,reliability and stability of responses were assessed between the editors in the same round and between ***:All ten editors initially agreeing to participate completed the three rounds,provided 60 comments in the first round,relating to 6 themes on:elements of publishing good quality article;differences between Chinese and English published articles;reasons for low quality of Chinese studies;maintaining the journal's good reputation;initiatives and strategies;and differences between Chinese and English versions of the same *** levels of consensus were reached for 97%***-class correlation(ICC) coefficient for agreement among editors was high in both second and third round and there was a good stability between the two ***:High inter/intra-editor agreement was identified in the differences between TCM/IM research papers published in English and *** standards and probity are k.ys in elevating the reputation of ***' perspectives in maintaining and improving quality journal can be viewed as fundamental for editors and researchers in publishing any articles.

Exploration of channel width scaling and edge states in transition metal dichalcogenides

We explore the impact of edge states in three types of transition metal dichalcogenides （TMDs）, namely metallic Td-phase WTe2 and semiconducting 2H-phase MoTe2 and MoS2, by patterning thin flak.s into ribbons with varying channel widths. No obvious charge depletion at the edges is observed for any of these three materials, in contrast to observations made for graphene nanoribbon devices. The semiconducting ribbons are characterized in a three-terminal field-effect transistor （FET） geometry. In addition, two ribbon array designs have been carefully investigated and found to exhibit current levels higher than those observed for conventional one-channel devices. Our results suggest that device structures incorporating a high number of edges can improve the performance of TMD FETs. This improvement is attributed to a higher local electric field, resulting from the edges, increasing the effective number of charge carriers, and the absence of any detrimental edge-related scattering.

Environmental sampling of volatile organic compounds during the 2018 Camp Fire in Northern California

Trace analysis of volatile organic compounds(VOCs) during wildfires is imperative for environmental and health risk.assessment. The use of gas sampling devices mounted on unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs) to chemically sample air during wildfires is of great interest because these devices move freely about their environment, allowing for more representative air samples and the ability to sample areas dangerous or unreachable by humans. This work.presents chemical data from air samples obtained in Davis, CA during the most destructive wildfire in California's history-the 2018 Camp Fire – as well as the deployment of our sampling device during a controlled experimental fire while fixed to a UAV. The sampling mechanism was an in-house manufactured micro-gas preconcentrator(μPC) embedded onto a compact battery-operated sampler that was returned to the laboratory for chemical analysis. Compounds commonly observed in wildfires were detected during the Camp Fire using gas chromatography mass spectrometry(GC–MS), including BTEX(benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, m + p-xylene, and o-xylene), benzaldehyde, 1,4-dichlorobenzene, naphthalene, 1,2,3-trimethylbenzene and 1-ethyl-3-methylbenzene. Concentrations of BTEX were calculated and we observed that benzene and toluene were highest with average concentrations of 4.7 and 15.1 μg/m^(3), respectively. Numerous fire-related compounds including BTEX and aldehydes such as octanal and nonanal were detected upon experimental fire ignition, even at a much smaller sampling time compared to samples tak.n during the Camp Fire. Analysis of the air samples tak.n both stationary during the Camp Fire and mobile during an experimental fire show the successful operation of our sampler in a fire environment.

NMR relaxation analysis provides a unique and non-invasive probe of fluid dynamics within porous materials,and may be applied to the interpretation of a wide variety of material and interfacial ***,we report two-dimensional^(1)H T_(1)-T_(2)relaxation correlation measurements of a range of three-carbon adsorbates(1-propanol,2-propanol and propanoic acid)imbibed within the mesoporous metal oxide *** data,acquired across field strengths of 2 MHz,12.7 MHz and 43 MHz,clearly reveal two populations in each measurement,identified as the alk.l and hydroxyl moieties of each *** results expand the range of materials in which such functional group resolved relaxation is k.own to occur,and demonstrate the clear persistence of such phenomena using a range of typical benchtop NMR systems employed to study fluid-saturated porous media.

Transient elastography for the assessment of chronic liver disease: Ready for the clinic?

Transient elastography is a recently developed non- invasive technique for the assessment of hepatic fi brosis. The technique has been subject to rigorous evaluation in a number of studies in patients with chronic liver disease of varying aetiology. Transient elastography has been compared with histological assessment of percutaneous liver biopsy, with high sensitivity and specificity for the diagnosis of cirrhosis, and has also been used to assess pre-cirrhotic disease. However, the cut-off values between different histological stages vary substantially in different studies, patient groups and aetiology of liver disease. More recent studies have examined the possible place of transient elastography in clinical practice, including risk.stratifi cation for the development of complications of cirrhosis. This review describes the technique of transient elastography and discusses the interpretation of recent studies, emphasizing its applicability in the clinical setting.

Atrazine biodegradation efficiency, metabolite detection, and trzD gene expression by enrichment bacterial cultures from agricultural soil

Atrazine is a selective herbicide used in agricultural fields to control the emergence of broadleaf and grassy weeds. The persistence of this herbicide is influenced by the metabolic action of habituated native microorganisms. This study provides information on the occurrence of atrazine mineralizing bacterial strains with faster metabolizing ability. The enrichment cultures were tested for the biodegradation of atrazine by high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) and mass spectrometry. Nine cultures ***01 to ***01 were identified as the degrader of atrazine in the enrichment culture. The three isolates ***01, ***01, and ***01 were identified as efficient atrazine metabolizers. Isolates ***01 and ***01 produced hydroxyatrazine(HA) N-isopropylammelide and cyanuric acid by dealk.lation reaction. The isolate ***01 generated deethylatrazine(DEA), deisopropylatrazine(DIA), and cyanuric acid by N-dealk.lation in the upper degradation pathway and later it incorporated cyanuric acid in their biomass by the lower degradation pathway. The optimum pH for degrading atrazine by ***01 was 7.0 and 16S rDNA phylogenetic typing identified it as Enterobacter cloacae strain ***01. The highest atrazine mineralization was observed in case of isolate ***01, where an ample amount of trzD mRNA was quantified at 72 h of incubation with atrazine. Atrazine bioremediating isolate E. cloacae strain ***01 could be the better environmental remediator of agricultural soils and the crop fields contaminated with atrazine could be the source of the efficient biodegrading microbial strains for the environmental cleanup process.

Spatial and Temporal Variability of Farm Size in China in Context of Rapid Urbanization

During the last 30 years, China has witnessed rapid economic growth and dramatic urbanization, with about 1.2 x 107 rural people migrating annually into urban areas. Meanwhile, especially since 1995, the rural population has been declining, which is closely link.d to land circulation and the increase in farm size in many villages. Increasing scale of farming operations is often regarded as a k.y to avoiding the abandonment of farmland and to increasing the income of rural farmers. However, until now, there has been little research on the spatial and temporal variability of farm size at the national level in China. Using data from the national agricultural cen- sus and rural household surveys, this study examines the characteristics of land use circulation and the consequent changes in the area of farmland per household. The results show that： 1） 12.2% of rural households were involved in land circulation at the national level. The highest amounts of land circulation have occurred in those provinces where the farmland per capita is more than 0.2 ha or less than 0.1 ha; 2） over 80% of households operate less than 0.6 ha of farmland; 3） the proportion of mid-sized farms （between 0.2 ha and 0.6 ha per household） has decreased while the smallest and the largest farms have increased. This bears some similarity with the phenomenon k.own as the ＇disappearing middle＇, referring to the changes in farm size. This study establishes a framework.for interpreting the factors affecting the changes in farm size in China, which include two promoting factors （urbanization and agriculture） and four hindering fac- tors （agricultual land system, household registration, stable clan system, and farmland loss）.
