This work.aims to theoretically show the development of a nonequilibrium of radiation-induced bystander effect (RIBE) under steep dose gradient regions that typically occur in the field edges of a beam. We applied the k.netics model proposed by (McMahon et al. 2013) for in vivo conditions coupled with a hypothesis called “Layer-limited bystander signaling (LLBS)” to demonstrate 1) an enhancement in TCP (i.e. Enhanced TCP or ETCP) due to bystander signals, 2) the development of nonequilibrium of RIBE under steep dose gradient regions and 3) the reduction in ETCP in the surface of Clinical Target Volume (CTV) due to the non-equilibrium of RIBE. We incorporated the elements of RIBE directly in the existing Poisson LQ model available in Pinnacle3 TPS (Version 9.10.0) to compute the percentage reduction of ETCP in the tumor surface due to nonequilibrium of RIBE. The percentage improvement in TCP obtained in tumor surface by accounting for RIBE is about 46% lower than that obtained in the interior of the tumor. This suggests that relatively more number of cancerous cells might survive in the vicinity of tumor surface. The result obtained from the study is indicative of an additional uncertainty component associated with radiation treatment. Hence, this paper suggests that the radiation treatments employing steep dose gradients could be biophysically different in many ways.

ATPase 6/8 gene （842 bp） of mitochondrial DNA was sequenced in Labeo rohita samples （n = 253） collected from nine rivers belonging to four river basins; Indus, Ganges, Brahmaputra and Mahanadi. Analysis revealed 44 haplotypes with high haplotype diversity （Hd） 0.694 and low nucleotide diversity （π） 0.001. The within population variation was larger （83.44%） than among population differences （16.56%）. The mean Fsv value （0.166; P 〈 0.05） for overall populations revealed moderate level of genetic structuring in the wild L. rohita populations. The haplotype network.presented a single clade for wild L. rohita population, from different rivers. Negative values for Fu＇s index （Fs）, mismatch distribution analysis indicated period of expansion in L. rohita population. The time after recent expansion was estimated for each population, between 0.042 to 0.167 mya. The pattern of Isolation by Distance （IBD） was not significant （r = -0.113, P 〈 0.287）, when all the sampling locations were compared （Mantel test）, however, when an outlier （Indus, Brahmaputra and Mahanadi） was removed from the whole population set, a clear positive correlation between pairwise Fsv and geographic distance （k.） was seen. The analysis of data demonstrated that ATPase6/8 gene polymorphism is a potential mark.r to understand genetic population structure of wild L. rohita existing in different rivers. The study identified population substructure in wild L. rohita with common ancestral origin [Current Zoology 60 （4）： 460--471, 2014].

A mathematical study of a predator-prey model with disease circulating in the both populations

Disease in ecological systems plays an important role. In the present investigation we propose and analyze a predator-prey mathematical model in which both species are affected by infectious disease. The parasite is transmitted directly （by contact） within the prey population and indirectly （by consumption of infected prey） within the predator population. We derive biologically feasible and insightful quantities in terms of ecological as well as epidemiological reproduction numbers that allow us to describe the dynamics of the proposed system. Our observations indicate that predator-prey system is stable without disease but high infection rate drive the predator population toward extinction. We also observe that predation of vulnerable infected prey mak.s the disease to eradicate into the community composition of the model system. Local stability analysis of the interior equilibrium point near the disease-free equilibrium point is work.d out. To study the global dynamics of the system, numerical simulations are performed. Our simulation results show that for higher values of the force of infection in the prey population the predator population goes to extinction. Our numerical analysis reveals that predation rates specially on susceptible prey population and recovery of infective predator play crucial role for preventing the extinction of the susceptible predator and disease propagation.

We present an analysis of the xF_3(x,Q^2) structure function and Gross-Llewellyn Smith(GLS) sum rule tak.ng into account the nuclear effects and higher twist correction. This analysis is based on the results presented in[N.M. Nath, et al., Indian j. Phys. 90(2016) 117]. The corrections due to nuclear effects predicted in several earlier analysis are incorporated to our results of xF_3(x,Q^2) structure function and GLS sum rule for free nucleon, corrected upto next-next-to-leading order(NNLO) perturbative order and calculate the nuclear structure function as well as sum rule for nuclei. In addition, by means of a simple model we have extracted the higher twist contributions to the nonsinglet structure function xF_3(x,Q^2) and GLS sum rule in NNLO perturbative orders and then incorporated them to our results. Our NNLO results along with nuclear effect and higher twist corrections are observed to be compatible with corresponding experimental data and other phenomenological analysis.

Tree species composition and diversity in montane forests of Garhwal Himalaya in relation to environmental and soil properties

The montane forests of Garhwal Himalaya were investigated for tree species composition and diversity in relation to environmental and edaphic variables.A stratified random sampling approach was adopted to collect the field data from each forest.A total of 39 tree species belonging to 31 genera and 23 families were recorded from the sampling area(6 forest stands ×10 plots in each).Lauraceae with 5 species was the largest family while Quercus(4 species) emerged as the largest ***-area curve(asymptote) predicted more species than the observed number of *** analysis has shown that the two Abies pindrow dominant forest stands had the highest similarity in tree species *** tree stem density ranged from 540-1170 ha-1,basal area 23.01-55.94 m^2 ha-1,ShannonWiener diversity index 1.69-2.49,evenness index0.42-0.74,beta diversity 0.40-0.82 and similarity index 0.17-0.54 in the six studied ***-way indicator species analysis(TWINSPAN) identified four distinct tree communities in the study area with Daphniphyllum himalayense,Abies pindrow,Quercus oblongata,and Pinus roxburghii as indicator species of corresponding *** correspondence analysis(CCA) ascertained the TWINSPAN results and revealed the relation of tree species with environmental and edaphic *** phytosociological attributes of tree species varied from one forest stand to another;however,the tree species richness,density,and diversity peak.d at intermediate elevation on the north *** reveal that tree composition and diversity in the montane forests of Garhwal Himalaya are influenced by both environmental(elevation and slope aspect)and soil variables(texture,water holding capacity,moisture content,available N,exchangeable P,and pH).This study will help in understanding the forest distribution across the western Himalaya,guiding the conservationists and policymak.rs in carrying out conservation-related management activities,designing the long-
