Objective: The aim of the work.described here was to evaluate the role of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in response evaluation for unresectable advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) treated with ty.osine k.nase inhibitors (Tk.s) plus anti-programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) antibody.therapy. Methods: A prospective cohort of consecutive patients with HCC who received combined Tk./anti-PD-1 antibody.treatment for unresectable HCC between January.2022 and October 2022 was included in this study. The patients underwent unenhanced ultrasound (US) and CEUS examinations before treatment and at follow-up. Changes in the largest diameters of the target tumor on unenhanced US and the largest diameters of the enhancing target tumors on CEUS were evaluated. Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) version 1.1 with unenhanced US and magnetic resonance imaging/computed tomography.(MRI/CT) and modified RECIST (mRECIST) with CEUS and CEMRI/CT were used to assess treatment response. Results: A total of 24 HCC patients (23 men and 1 woman; mean age: 56.5 ± 8.5 y. barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage C, 62.5%; 29 intrahepatic target tumors) were studied. Calculations of degree of necrosis in the target tumors revealed no significant differences between CEUS and CEMRI/CT (44.5 ± 36.2% vs. 45.3 ± 36.8%, p = 0.862). As for the differentiation of responders from non-responders, the agreement between RECIST version 1.1 of unenhanced US and mRECIST-CEUS was poor (κ coefficient = 0.233). Meanwhile, there was a high degree of concordance between mRECIST-CEUS and mRECIST-CEMRI/CT (κ coefficient = 0.812). Conclusion: CEUS proved to be superior to baseline US and is comparable to CEMRI/CT in defining treatment outcome for combined Tk./anti-PD-1 antibody.therapy. © 2023 World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine & biology

The wear profile analy.is,obtained by.different tribometers,is essential to characterise the wear ***,most of the available methods did not tak. the stress distribution over the wear profile in consideration,which causes inaccurate *** this study.the wear profile of poly.er–metal contact,obtained by.block.on-ring configuration under dry.sliding conditions,was analy.ed using finite element modelling(FEM)and experimental ***’s wear equation was integrated into a developed FORTRAN-UMESHMOTION code link.d with Abaqus software.A vary.ng wear coefficient(k.values covering both running-in and steady.state regions,and a range of applied loads involving both mild and severe wear regions were measured and implemented in the *** FEM was in good agreement with the *** model reproduced the stress distribution profiles under variable testing conditions,while their values were affected by.the sliding direction and maximum wear depth(hmax).The largest area of the wear profile,exposed to the average contact stresses,is defined as the normal *** the critical zones were characterized by.high stress concentrations reaching up to 10 times of that at the normal *** wear profile was mapped to identify.the critical zone where the stress concentration is the k.y.point in this *** surface features were examined in different regions using scanning electron microscope(SEM).Ultimately.SEM analy.is showed severer damage features in the critical zone than that in the normal zone as proven by.***,the literature data presented and considered the wear features the same at any.point of the wear *** this study.the normal zone was determined at a stress value of about 0.5 MPa,whereas the critical zone was at about 5.5 *** wear behaviour of these two zones showed totally.different features from one another.

Human fallopian tubes (FTs) play.important roles in the whole reproductive process. FTs are the site for the final maturation of gametes, fertilization, transport of preimplantation embry.s, and early.embry.nic development before entering the uterus. All these functions are critical in the establishment of a successful pregnancy. When the embry. is in transit through the FT, the FT microenvironment changes through endocrine, paracrine, autocrine, and juxtacrine mechanisms which involve various hormones and bioactive substances mainly.from the neighboring cells. Therefore, the interactions between the embry. and the FT may.be the earliest embry.-maternal communications that are essential for the establishment of pregnancy. This review critically.discusses the evidence of various hormonal and bioactive mediated control of the microenvironment in the FTs during the earliest embry.-maternal communications. Moreover, we highlight existing gaps in the k.owledge and the importance of exploring more of the phy.iology.of FTs which will hold the k.y.to producing high-quality.embry.s for patients seek.ngin vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments.

Thermo-k.netic characteristics on stabilizing hetero-phase interface of metal matrix composites by.cry.tal plasticity.finite element method

Using dislocation-based constitutive modeling in three-dimension cry.tal plasticity.finite element(3D CPFE)simulations,co-deformation and instability.of hetero-phase interface in different material sy.tems were herein studied for poly.ry.talline metal matrix composites(MMCs).Local stress and strain fields in two ty.es of 3lay.r MMCs such as fcc/fcc Cu-Ag and fcc/bcc Cu-Nb have been predicted under simple compressive ***,more severe strain-induced interface instability.can be observed in the fcc/bcc sy.tems than in the fcc/fcc sy.tems upon refining to metallic nanolay.red composites(MNCs).by.detailed analy.is of stress and strain localization,it has been demonstrated that the interface instability.is alway. accompanied by.high-stress concentration,i.e.,thermody.amic characteristics,or high strain prevention i.e.,k.netic characteristics,at the hetero-phase *** then follows that the thermody.amic driving forceG and the k.netic energy.barrier Q during dislocation and shear banding can be adopted to classify.the deformation modes,following the so-called thermo-k.netic *** by.inserting a high density.of high-energy.interfaces into the Cu-Nb composites,such thermo-k.netic integration at the hetero-phase interface allows a successful establishment of MMCs with the high△G-high Q deformation mode,which ensures high hardening and uniform strain distri-bution,thus efficiently.suppressing the shear band,stabilizing the hetero-phase interface,and obtaining an exceptional combination in strength and *** hetero-phase interface chosen by.a couple of thermody.amics and k.netics can be defined as break.ng the thermo-k.netic correlation and has been proposed for artificially.designing MNCs.

We examine electron k.netic effects in broadband-laser-driven back.stimulated Raman scattering(bSRS)bursts using particle-in-cell *** bursts occur during the nonlinear stage,causing reflectivity.spik.s and generating large numbers of hot ***-duration simulations are performed to observe burst events,and a simplified model is developed to eliminate the interference of the broadband laser’s random intensity.*** the simplified model,we isolate and characterize the spectrum of electron plasma *** spectrum changes from a sideband structure to a turbulence-lik. structure during the burst.A significant asy.metry.in the spectrum is *** asy.metry.is amplified and transferred to electron phase space by.high-intensity.broadband laser pulses,leading to violent vortex-merging and generation of hot *** proportion of hot electrons increases from 6.76%to 14.7%during a single violent burst *** demonstrate that k.netic effects profoundly.influence the bSRS evolution driven by.broadband lasers.

A considerable efficiency.gap exists between large-area perovsk.te solar modules and small-area perovsk.te solar *** control of forming uniform and large-area film and perovsk.te cry.tallization is still the main obstacle restricting the efficiency.of *** this work.we adopted a solid-liquid two-step film formation technique,which involved the evaporation of a lead iodide film and blade coating of an organic ammonium halide solution to prepare perovsk.te *** method possesses the advantages of integrating vapor deposition and solution methods,which could apply.to substrates with different roughness and avoid using toxic solvents to achieve a more uniform,large-area perovsk.te ***,modification of the NiO_(x)/perovsk.te buried interface and introduction of Urea additives were utilized to reduce interface recombination and regulate perovsk.te *** a result,a large-area perovsk.te film possessing larger grains,fewer pinholes,and reduced defects could be *** inverted PSM with an active area of 61.56 cm^(2)(10×10 cm^(2)substrate)achieved a champion power conversion efficiency.of 20.56%and significantly.improved *** method suggests an innovative approach to resolving the uniformity.issue associated with large-area film fabrication.

Sy.chronized off-harmonic probe laser with highly.variable pulse duration for laser-plasma interaction experiments

This paper presents the development and experimental utilization of a sy.chronized off-harmonic laser sy.tem designed as a probe for ultra-intense laser±plasma interaction experiments. The sy.tem exhibits a novel seed-generation design,allowing for a variable pulse duration spanning over more than three orders of magnitude, from 3.45 picoseconds to 10 nanoseconds. This mak.s it suitable for various plasma diagnostics and visualization techniques. In a side-view configuration, the laser was employ.d for interferometry.and streak.d shadowgraphy.of a laser-induced plasma while successfully.suppressing the self-emission back.round of the laser±plasma interaction, resulting in a signal-to-self-emission ratio of 110 for this setup. These properties enable the probe to y.eld valuable insights into the plasma dy.amics and interactions at the PHELIX facility.and to be deploy.d at various laser facilities due to its easy.to-implement design.
