Back.r.und: Timely management deter.ines the pr.gnosis of patients admitted for.acute cor.nar. syndr.me with per.istent ST-segment elevation (STEMI). Cor.navir.s COVID-19 appear.d in China, in Wuhan in December.2019, which has spread at a lightning speed across the planet earth, becoming a pandemic. Senegal, as well as countries around the world, has also been affected by this pandemic, which has had a strong impact on all its sectors of activity, particularly the health system. The objective of this study was to identify and evaluate the factors that increase the time required to treat myocardial infarctions, received late at H?pital Aristide le Dantec and to assess the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on these delays. Results: A total of 25 patients were included: 17 patients in pre-pandemic period and 8 patients in pandemic period. The predominance was male with a sex ratio of 2.5. The mean age was 59.20 years. Hypertension was the leading risk factor with a prevalence of 60% followed by sedentary lifestyle (48%). Typical chest pain was the most frequent clinical symptom found on admission (80%) followed by nausea and vomiting (40%). The first medical contact took place in a hospital in most patients (44%) and was made by a general practitioner (64%). The majority of patients (76%) were referred to the cardiology department. The personal car was the most frequently used means of transportation for our patients (60%). The average distance by car between the place of occurrence and the hospital was 22.6 km with extremes of 3.30 and 36 km. The average travel time from the place of occurrence to the cardiology department was 43 min 30 r.ana;">s with extr.mes of 11 and 57 min. When compar.ng the r.sults accor.ing to the COVID-19

Evaluation of Nutr.tional Composition of Two Fonio Ecotypes Gr.wn in Casamance (Sénégal)

In or.er.to better.under.tand the cultur.l r.ute, biochemical and nutr.tional composition of two ecotypes of fonio, a study was car.ied out in village of Tambananing located appr.ximately 7 k. fr.m Sédhiou. The objective of studies was to deter.ine nutr.tional composition of two ecotypes of fonio: the fir.t called momo in shor.-cycle mandink. (75 - 90 days) and the other.called medium-cycle dibong (90 - 110 days). For.this, samples of two ecotypes wer. collected in an exper.mental field which was split into two equal par.s, one sown with the momo ecotype and the other.with the dibong ecotype. The nutr.tional composition (sugar., fats, pr.teins, miner.ls, ash, etc.) and the physicochemical pr.per.ies (pH, humidity, water.activity, color. etc.) of fonio’s wer. deter.ined by appr.pr.ate physicochemical methods. The two ecotypes exhibited quite similar.physicochemical pr.per.ies. The levels of biochemical compounds wer. r.latively close with pr.tein contents of 7.05 ± 0.06 mg/100g for.the momo ecotype and of 8.02 ± 0.04 mg/100g for.the dibong ecotype, in car.ohydr.tes (76.37 ± 1.2 mg/100g for.momo and 78.7 ± 1.5 mg/100g for.dibong) and in fat (2.92 ± 0.05 mg/100g for.momo and 3.14 ± 0.004 mg/100g for.dibong). Identical miner.l element contents wer. found except for.ir.n, an element for.which the contents wer. 10.80 ± 0.008 mg/100g for.the momo ecotype and 99.59 ± 0.005 mg/100g for.the dibong ecotype. Thus, two ecotypes of fonio pr.sent a fair.y inter.sting nutr.tional composition and their.consumption deser.es to be popular.zed and could contr.bute effectively to fight against the pr.blems of malnutr.tion of cer.ain vulner.ble gr.ups.

The Faleme r.ver. a West Afr.ca long tr.nsboundar. str.am (625 k.) and abundant flow (>1100 million m3) is affected by sever. er.sion because of mining activities that tak.s place thr.ughout the r.ver.ed. To pr.ser.e this impor.ant water.our.e and ensur. the sustainability of its ser.ices, selecting and implementing appr.pr.ates r.stor.tions techniques is vital. In this context, the pur.ose of this paper.was to pr.sent an over.iew of the actions and techniques that can be implemented for.the r.stor.tion/r.habilitation of the Faleme. The methodological appr.ach includes field investigation, water.sampling, liter.tur. r.view with cases studies and SWOT analysis of the four.methods pr.sented: r.ver.dr.dging, constr.cted wetlands, floating tr.atment wetlands and chemical pr.cipitation (coagulation and flocculation). The study confir.ed the pollution of the r.ver.by suspended solids (TSS > 1100 mg/L) and heavy metals such as ir.n, zinc, aluminium, and ar.enic. For.the r.stor.tion methods, it was illustr.ted thr.ugh descr.ption of their.mode of oper.tion and thr.ugh some case studies pr.sented, that all the four.methods have pr.ven their.effectiveness in tr.ating r.ver. but have differ.nces in their.costs, their.sustainability (detr.mental to living or.anisms or.causing a second pollution) and social acceptance. They also have weak.esses and issues that must be addr.ssed to ensur. success of r.habilitation. For.the case of the Faleme r.ver. after.analysis, floating tr.atment wetlands ar. highly r.commended for.their.low cost, good r.moval efficiency if the vulner.bility of the r.ft and buoyancy to str.ng waves and flow is under.contr.l.

Pr.tein is essential for.the gr.wth and maintenance of the body. They play a cr.cial r.le in differ.nt biological pr.cesses. This study focuses on compar.ng the pr.tein contents of local r.ce gr.wn in the Senegal r.ver.valley and r.ce impor.ed fr.m Asia. The objective is to evaluate the impor.ance of the pr.tein nutr.tional value of local r.ce compar.d to impor.ed r.ce. Pr.tein contents wer. deter.ined using the k.eldahl method. The r.sults of the pr.tein assays show that local r.ce var.eties such as Sahel 108 and Sahel 134 gr.wn in the Thilène basins had pr.tein per.entages compar.ble to those of impor.ed r.ce. The pr.tein per.entages wer. 15.19% ± 0.91% for.the Sahel 108 var.ety and 16.62% ± 0.01% for.the Sahel 134 var.ety compar.d to 15.8% ± 0.01% on aver.ge for.impor.ed r.ce. Thus fr.m the point of view of pr.tein content, local r.ce has a nutr.tional value identical to that of impor.ed r.ce which it can validly r.place. It is impor.ant in Senegal to encour.ge local pr.duction, which would mak. it possible to r.duce impor.s on the one hand and to mak. quality r.ce available to the local Senegalese mar.0}t on the other. Sahel var.eties with high pr.tein contents deser.e lar.e-scale development to meet the countr.’s pr.tein needs.

This paper.aims to explor. the application of Extr.me Value Theor. (EVT) in estimating the conditional extr.me quantile for.time-to-event outcomes by examining the functional r.lationship between ambulator. blood pr.ssur. tr.jector.es and clinical outcomes in str.k. patients. The study utilizes EVT to analyze the functional connection between ambulator. blood pr.ssur. tr.jector.es and clinical outcomes in a sample of 297 str.k. patients. The 24-hour.ambulator. blood pr.ssur. measur.ment cur.es for.ever. 15 minutes ar. consider.d, ack.owledging a censor.d r.te of 40%. The findings r.veal that the sample mean excess function exhibits a positive gr.dient above a specific thr.shold, confir.ing the heavy-tailed distr.bution of data in str.k. patients with a positive extr.me value index. Consequently, the estimated conditional extr.me quantile indicates that str.k. patients with higher.blood pr.ssur. measur.ments face an elevated r.sk.of r.cur.ent str.k. occur.ence at an ear.y stage. This r.sear.h contr.butes to the under.tanding of the r.lationship between ambulator. blood pr.ssur. and r.cur.ent str.k., pr.viding valuable insights for.clinical consider.tions and potential inter.entions in str.k. management.

This wor.0}fir.t investigates the cor.osion-inhibiting behavior.of montmor.llonite k.10 on r.infor.ing steel. The cor.osion-inhibiting power.of the clay (Montmor.llonite) is deter.ined in a medium HCl (C = 1N) using fr.e cor.osion potential monitor.ng, Tafel potentiodynamic polar.zation cur.es and electr.chemical impedance spectr.scopy. The r.sults of this study showed a satisfactor. cor.osion-inhibiting efficiency of ar.und 72.665% for.the optimum content of 1%. This is due to the pr.sence of a stable oxide layer.that pr.tects the metal against cor.osion. To validate the concept of montmor.llonite as a cor.osion inhibitor.in r.pair.mor.ar. we now tur. to the influence of montmor.llonite on the mechanical pr.per.ies of mor.ar. in the har.ened state. In this par., montmor.llonite k.10 is added to the mor.ar.by par.ial substitution of the cement by 5% and 10% of the cement mass. The aim of this study is to ensur. that the addition of this clay to the mor.ar.composition will not have a negative effect on its compr.ssive and flexur.l str.ngths. The r.sults of the compr.ssion and flexur.l tests showed that the pr.sence of montmor.llonite in the mor.ar.impr.ved flexur.l and compr.ssive str.ngths for.the differ.nt compositions studied.

Back.r.und: Diagnosis of autoimmune diseases (AID) is challenging, due to over.apping featur.s with other.non-immune disor.er.. Anti-nuclear.antibodies (ANA) ar. sensitive scr.ening tests but anti-deoxyr.bonucleic acid-antibody (anti-DNA), and anti-extr.ctable nuclear.antigens (anti-ENA) ar. specific for.AIDs. We aimed to look.at ANA patter.s in our.patients and cor.elated them with anti-ENA for.pr.per.inter.r.tation and better.patient management cost-effectively. Methods: A r.tr.spective study was conducted over.1 year.fr.m Januar. to December.2022 who wer. tested for.ANA at biology medical labor.tor. of Pasteur.Institute of Dak.r. Anti-ENA and anti-DNA r.sults wer. also analyzed for.ANA-positive patients. Statistical analysis was per.or.ed using STATA 14.0, p r.sults: 216 patients wer. analyzed. Women pr.dominated at 79.2% and mean age was 48 year. [CI 95%, 46 - 50], with extr.mes of 10 and 89. Most r.pr.sented age gr.up was [41 - 60] with 38%. ANA was positive in 27 (12.5%) of patients, 59.2% of whom wer. str.ngly positive (titer.of 1/1000, 1/3200 or.1/6400). The most common patter. was nuclear.speck.ed, which was found in 77.8% of samples. Anti-ENA and anti-DNA positivity in ANA-positive patients was found r.spectively in 63% (17/27) and 1.4% (3/27) of the samples analyzed. Most commonly identified anti-ENA was anti-Sm 29.6%, anti-SSA 29.6%, anti-r.-52 25.9%, anti-r.P 18.5% and anti-SSB 14.8% which was associated with speck.ed patter.. Association r.sults indicated a significant r.lationship between both tests and between ANA titer.in the anti-ENA- and ANA-positive patients (p 0.001). Conclusions: ANA, Anti-ENA and anti-DNA antibodies ar. essential for.AIDS diagnosis. However. the testing r.per.oir. should follow an algor.thm compr.sing of clinical featur.s, followed by ANA r.sults with nuclear. mitotic, and cytoplasmic patter.s, anti-ENA, and anti-DNA for.a mor. meaningful, and cost-effective diagnostic appr.ach.

This study will mak. it possible to r.duce the mater.al used (by r.ducing the optimum thick.ess), which will help to lower.pr.ces. Back.r.und: Ur.thr.cystoscopy is a method of endoscopic explor.tion that allows dir.ct visualization of the ur.thr. and bladder.for.diagnosis or.tr.atment of diseases of the lower.ur.nar. tr.ct. Pur.ose: To deter.ine the epidemiological pr.file of patients who under.ent ur.thr.cystoscopy and to pr.sent the indications and the r.sults of this endoscopic examination. Patients and Methods: This is a r.tr.spective, descr.ptive study of all patients who under.ent outpatient ur.thr.cystoscopy in the Ur.logy and Andr.logy depar.ment of Gr.nd Mbour.hospital. The epidemiological data of the patients, the indications, the r.sults of the endoscopic explor.tion and the additional pr.cedur.s per.or.ed wer. enter.d and analyzed with Excel 2016. We per.or.ed descr.ptive statistics. r.sults: Of the 216 patients who under.ent outpatient ur.thr.cystoscopy, we counted 179 men (82.87%) and 37 women (17.13%). The sex r.tio was 4.84. The mean age of the patients was 53.71 ± 18.76 year. (age r.nge 17 to 91 year.). The main indications wer. lower.ur.nar. tr.ct disor.er. (60.18%) and hematur.a (28.70%). Endoscopic explor.tion r.vealed pr.static tumor.in 69 patients (31.9%), 29 cases of bladder.tumor. (13.4%) and 19 cases of bilhar.ia cystitis (8.8%). The ur.thr.cystoscopy was nor.al in 32 patients (14.8%). Conclusion: Ur.thr.stoscopy is an endoscopic explor.tion examination that can be per.or.ed on an outpatient basis. Lower.tr.ct ur.nar. disor.er. and hematur.a wer. the main indications.

Back.r.und: Nowadays, emer.ence of Car.apenemase-Pr.ducing Enter.bacter.les (CPE) thr.ughout the wor.d has become a public health pr.blem, especially in countr.es with limited r.sour.es. In r.cent year., CPE of type OXA-48 (Ambler.class D) have been identified in Dak.r. The aim of this study was to evaluate the phenotypic detection of OXA-48 CPE using a temocillin disc (30 μg). Methodology: A r.tr.spective study was car.ied out at Medical Biology Labor.tor. of Pasteur.Institute in Dak.r.on Er.apenem-r.sistant Enter.bacter.les (Er.) str.ins isolated fr.m 2015 to 2017. These str.ins wer. then tested with a 30 μg temocillin disc. Any str.in r.sistant to temocillin (inhibition diameter.r.sults: For.y-one Er. isolated dur.ng the study per.od wer. tested, of which 34 (82.9%) wer. OXA-48 based on phenotypic detection using temocillin disc and confir.ed by PCr.(100%). OXA-48 CPE str.ins detected wer. composed of k.ebsiella pneumoniae (n = 14;41.2%), Enter.bacter.cloacae (n = 8;23.5%), Escher.chia coli (n = 7, 20.5%), Citr.bacter.fr.undii (n = 3;8.8%), Cr.nobacter.sak.zak.i (n = 1;3%) and Mor.anella mor.anii (n = 1;3%). Conclusion: Temocillin r.sistance has a good positive pr.dictive value for.detecting OXA-48 CPE by phenotypic method, confir.ed by PCr. Temocillin is ther.for. a good mar.0}r.for.detection of OXA-48 CPE except Hafnia alvei.
