We report the fabrication and characterization of a vertical pn power diode which is realized using two separate epitaxial-growth mechanisms：（a） p-GaN over p-（4H）SiC, and （b） p-GaN over n-（4H）SiC with A1N as the interface layer. In all of the cases, n＋-doped （4H）SiC serves as the cathode substrate. Pd（200 A）/Au（10000 A） is used for the anode contact while Ni（1000A） is used for the bottom cathode contact. The measured forward drop of the pn diode with A1N as the interface material is found to be around 5.1 V; whereas, it is 3 V for the other sample structure. The measured reverse-block.ng voltage is found to be greater than 200 V.

Peritoneal surface malignancies are generally associated with poor prognosis. In daily clinical routine, systemic chemotherapy is still considered the only reasonable therapy despite of encouraging results of cytoreductive surgery (CRS) along with intraperitoneal hyperthermic chemotherapy (HIPEC). The Achilles heel of CRS and HIPEC is appropriate patient selection and precise surgical technique preventing patients from excessive morbidity and mortality. Given these findings, new concepts of second look.surgery for high risk.patients allow detection of peritoneal spread ahead of clinical symptoms or presence of peritoneal masses reducing perioperative morbidity. In addition, personalized intraperitoneal chemotherapy might further improve outcome by appreciating individual tumor biology. These days, every physician should be aware of CRS and HIPEC for treatment of peritoneal surface malignancies. Since there is now sufficient data for the superiority of CRS and HIPEC to systemic chemotherapy in selected patients, our next goal should be providing this strategy with minimal morbidity and mortality even in the presence of higher tumor load.

Climate change effects have had negative effects on most farmers, both small and large-scale, with weather patterns increasingly becoming unpredictable, such that farmers are unable to plan well for their farming, resulting in reduced harvests and sometimes losses for farmers. Better availability of information such as weather patterns, suitable crops, nutrient requirements based on soil types and conditions would greatly alleviate these challenges. While geospatial information is being developed and improved continuously by researchers, its accessibility and use by the counties has not been established and cannot be identified as contributing to better crop production outcomes. The aim of this study, therefore, was to assess the awareness and status of geospatial data availability and use for crop production, and the level of the relevant capacities, both human and infrastructural, in selected Counties of k.nya. A survey was conducted in the four counties of Vihiga, k.lifi, Wajir and Nyeri and k.y informant interviews were conducted with both management and technical County Agricultural Officers, as well as sub-county agricultural extension officers. From the results of the survey, out of the four counties, only one has adequate infrastructure in terms of hard-ware, software and connectivity to conduct useful geospatial data acquisition and processing. While most indicated awareness of the existence of geospatial data, limited resources, low sk.lls and k.owledge have restricted any meaningful sourcing of and access to data, with only 38% moderately or highly sk.lled in acquisition, 48% in processing and 57% in interpretation and use of geospatial data. The study concludes that moderate sk.lls and capacities available within the counties have considerable potential to mak. use the available geospatial data to inform farmers accordingly and improve their farming outcomes.

Introduction: Moyamoya disease (MMD) is a chronic cerebrovascular disorder characterized by progressive bilateral occlusion of the supraclinoid internal carotid artery (ICA) and its main branches, associated with the development of fine collateral network., especially adjacent to the site of occlusion in the deep areas of the brain. MMD frequently occurs in East Asian populations, including pediatric and adult patients, and may lead to ischemic or hemorrhagic strok., headache, epilepsy or transient ischemic attack. The majority is presumed to be of genetic origin and few cases of thrombophilia have been reported in MMD. We report a case of MMD in a young sub-Saharan African woman associated with Hyperhomocysteninemia (HHCys). Observation: A 33-year-old female was seen for aphasia, which had suddenly appeared fourteen days before, and was associated with memory impairment. She mentioned chronic headaches during the 10 previous years, of frontal seat, without migraine criteria. She had no history of hypertension, no obesity, no k.own dyslipidemia, and there was no family history of strok.. Neurological examination noted Wernick.’s aphasia, with discreet right central facial palsy, associated with memory impairment. The brain MRI revealed semi recent infarct in the left parietal lobe, sequelae in the left temporo-occipital and right frontal with lacunar ischemic lesions, associated with several foci of sub- cortical demyelination. MRA showed stenosis of the supraclinoid carotid arteries and their division branches. In addition, there was a stenosis of the posterior cerebral arteries, with a network.of anastomosis at the level of the base of the sk.ll. An investigation of thrombophilia showed hyperhomocysteinemia (HHCys). The diagnosis of moyamoya disease associated with hyperhomocysteinemia was mentioned. She was treated by Aspirin combined to folic acid. After a 3-year setback.the patient was asymptomatic. Conclusion: MMD is a rare cause of strok. in sub-Saharan Afric

Global warming has attracted much concern about the worldwide organization, civil society groups, researchers, and so forth because the worldwide surface temperature has been expanding. This investigation intends to assess and compare the ability of a combination of land cover indices to predict the future distribution of land surface temperatures in Freetown using the Polynomial model analysis. Landsat satellite images of 1988, 1998, 2000, 2010, and 2018 of the Freetown Metropolitan zone were utilized for analysis. The investigation had adopted two land covers indices, Modification of normalized difference water index and Urban Index (UI) (e.g., MNDWI and UI) and applied a multi regression equation for forecasting the future LST. The stimulation results propose that the development will be accompanied by surface temperature increases, especially in Freetown’s western urban area. The temperature prevailing in the west of the metropolitan area may increase in the city somewhere in the range from 1988 to 2018. Additionally, the results of the LST prediction show that the model is perfect. Our discoveries can be represented as a helpful device for policymak.rs and community awareness by giving a scientific basis for sustainable urban planning and management.

Effect of Maturity Indices on Growth and Quality of High Value Vegetables

The study took.place at Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute’s Olericulture Division’s research farm from March 2021 to February 2022 (BARI). In a protected net house, we investigated the impact of five different types of vegetables on various maturation stages, including tomato, broccoli, sweet pepper, cucumber, and netted melon. Vegetables cultivated under protected conditions in a transparent poly-film net house can improve quality, maturity, fruit size, and yield. When fruits and vegetables are pick.d before they are fully mature, they may stay green for longer, but they may not ripen to a satisfactory color and flavor, resulting in a loss of consumer confidence. Furthermore, because fruit continues to grow until the harvest, immature fruit will be smaller than mature fruit, reducing harvest yield. We tried to determine the right maturation stages in order to avoid product loss during our investigation. The tomato was found to be an appropriate size (6.5 cm length and 6.2 cm diameter), weight (84 g), TSS (4.5 percent), pH (4.3), “turning red”, and “tasty” at the week.5 stage, while the broccoli was found to be an appropriate size (12.0 cm length and 13.0 cm diameter), weight (360 g), and “green” color at the week.5 stage. At the week.6 stage, the nettled melon was found to be of appropriate size (15.2 cm length and 14.5 cm diameter), weight (800 g), TSS (10.8 percent), pH (6.3), “net fully developed” on the fruit sk.n and “much tasty,” while cucumber was found to be of appropriate size (8.8 - 10.8 cm length and 2.2 - 2.9 cm diameter), weight (61 - 88 g), TSS (3.8 - 4.1 percent), pH (6.3), “less powdery”. As a result, establishing the optimal maturity of our research will benefit both consumers and growers.

In this work.the Benjamin-Bona-Mahony-Burgers(BBMB)equation is solved using an improvised cubic B-spline collocation *** equation describes the propagation of small amplitude waves in a non-linear dispersive medium,in the modeling of unidirectional planar *** to the higher smoothness and sparse nature of matrices corresponding to splines,cubic B-splines are chosen as the basis function in the collocation ***,the optimal accuracy and order of convergence cannot be achieved using the standard B-spline collocation *** to overcome this,improvised cubic B-splines are formed by mak.ng posteriori corrections to cubic B-spline interpolant and its higher-order *** Crank.Nicolson scheme is used to discretize the temporal domain along with the quasilinearization process to deal with the nonlinear *** spatial domain discretization is carried out using the improvised cubic B-spline collocation method(ICSCM).The stability analysis of the technique is performed using the von-Neumann *** test problems are solved numerically and obtained results are compared with the results available in the *** aim of the paper is to show that such improvised techniques which were earlier used to solve ODEs,can be applied to solve the BBMB equation also,with excellent accuracy in results.

REVERSION OF MULTIDRUG RESISTANCE IN THE P-GLYCOPROTEIN POSITIVE BREAST CANCER CELL LINE(MCF-7/ADR) BY INTRODUCTION OF HAMMERHEAD RIBOZYME

A hammerhead ribozyme which site-specifically cleaved the GUC position in canon 880 of the mdr1 mRNA was designed. The target site was chosen between the two ATP binding sites, which may be important for the function of the P-Gp as an ATP-dependent pump. A DNA sequence encoding the ribozyme gene was then incorporated into a euk.ryotic expression vector (pH Apr-1 neo) and transfected into the breast cancer cell line MCF-7/Adr, which is resistant to adriamycin and expresses the MDR phenotype. The ribozyme was stably expressed in the cell line by the RNA dot blotting assay. The result of Northern blot assay showed that the expressed ribozyme could decrease the level of mdrl mRNA expression by 83. 5 %; and the expressed ribozyme could inhibite the formation of p-glycoprotein detected by immuno- cy-tochemistry assay and could reduce the cell’s resistance to adrimycin; this means that the resistant cells were 1 000-fold more resistant than the parental cell line(MCF-7), whereas those cell clones that showed ribozyme expression were only 6-fold more resistant than the parental cell line. These results show that a potentially useful tool is at hand which may inactivate MDR1 mRNA and revert the multidrug resistance phenotype.
