Effects of synthesis parameters on the performance of crosslink.d Co-polymers with clays for conformance control

Conformance control or water shut-off is a technique used to improve oil *** conformance control,polymers block.high permeability water areas and redistribute water drive toward unswept oil *** this study,co-polymers(denoted ATP-PGV/AM-co-AMPS)were synthesized using acrylamide(AM)and 2-acrylamide-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid(AMPS)as the monomers,polyethylene glycol(PEG)-200 and methylenebisacrylamide(MBA)as the crosslink.rs,attapulgite(ATP)and bentonite(PGV)as the clay types,and ammonium persulfate(APS)as the initiator,in addition to paraffin oil and *** were synthesized using inverse emulsion polymerization with different concentrations of monomers,crosslink.rs,and clays,and they were characterized using Fourier-transform infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX).FTIR spectra of the samples confirmed the existence of sulfonate and hydroxyl groups,which are important for polymer ***-EDX images indicated that the morphology and elemental composition were different before and after swelling,confirming the occurrence of ***,samples were placed in sodium chloride solution(20,000 ppm)for 7 days to evaluate swelling at both room temperature and 90°*** analysis(TGA)and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)were used to determine the thermal characteristics of the ***,rheological measurements were used to assess the deformation and rheological behavior of the *** results showed that after 1 day,good swelling without loss of mechanical strength was achieved with the composite synthesized using 10%AM,15%AMPS,6%PGV,and 10%ATP.

Psychological consequences of a diagnosis of infertility in men:a systematic analysis

Almost half of infertility cases involve male *** the consequence of a diagnosis of male infertility,as a sole or partial contributor to the couples'infertility,to the mental health of men is required to ensure clinical care meets their psychological *** aim of this systematic analysis was to synthesize the evidence regarding whether men diagnosed with male factor infertility experience greater psychological distress than(1)men described as fertile and(2)men in couples with other infertility *** databases were searched using a combination of Medical Subject Headings(MeSH)headings and k.ywords relating to male infertility and psychological *** search yielded 1016 unique publications,of which 23 were included:8 case-control,14 prospective cohort,and 1 data link.ge *** aspects of psychological distress were identified depression,anxiety,self-esteem,quality of life,fertility-related stress,general psychological stress or well-being,and psychiatric ***-control studies reported that men with male factor infertility have more symptoms of depression,anxiety and general psychological distress,worse quality of some aspects of life,and lower self-esteem than *** men with male factor infertility were compared to men in couples with other causes of infertility,there were few differences in the assessed aspects of psychological *** methodological limitations within the studies,this systematic analysis suggests that the experience of infertility,irrespective of its cause,negatively affects men's mental health and demonstrates the need for assisted reproduction technology(ART)providers to consider men undergoing assisted reproduction as individuals with their own unique support needs.

Star-forming processes strongly influence the ISM ***,many high-quality databases are available at millimeter *** them,it is possible to carry out studies that review and deepen previous *** these studies involve large samples of sources,it is preferred to use direct tools to study the molecular *** the aim of testing these tools such as the use of the HCn/HnC ratio as a thermometer,and the use of H^(13)CO^(+),HC_(3)n,n_(2)H^(+) and C_(2)H as "chemical clock.," we present a molecular line study toward 55 sources representing massive young stellar objects at different evolutionary stages:infrared dark.clouds(IRDCs),highmass protostellar objects(HMPOs),hot molecular cores(HMCs) and ultracompact H II *** found that the use of the HCn/HnC ratio as a universal thermometer in the ISM should be tak.n with care because the HCn optical depth is a big issue that can affect the ***,this tool should be utilized only after a careful analysis of the HCn spectrum,check.ng that no line,neither the main nor the hyperfine ones,presents absorption *** point out that the analysis of the emission of H^(13)CO^(+),HC_(3)n,n_(2)H^(+) and C_(2)H could be useful to trace and distinguish regions among IRDCs,HMPOs and *** molecular line widths of these four species increase from the IRDC to the HMC stage,which can be a consequence of the gas dynamics related to the starforming processes tak.ng place in the molecular *** results not only contribute with more statistics,acting as a probe of such chemical tools,useful to obtain information in large samples of sources,but also complement previous work. through the analysis of other types of sources.

Directed x-rays produced in the interaction of sub-picosecond laser pulses of moderate relativistic intensity with plasma of near-critical density are investigated. Synchrotron-lik. (betatron) radiation occurs in the process of direct laser acceleration (DLA) of electrons in a relativisticlaser channel when the electrons undergo transverse betatron oscillations in self-generated quasi-static electric and magnetic fields. In anexperiment at the PHELIX laser system, high-current directed beams of DLA electrons with a mean energy ten times higher than the ponderomotive potential and maximum energy up to 100 MeV were measured at 10^(19) W/cm^(2)laser intensity. The spectrum of directed x-raysin the range of 5–60 k.V was evaluated using two sets of Ross filters placed at 0°and 10°to the laser pulse propagation axis. The differential x-ray absorption method allowed for absolute measurements of the angular-dependent photon fluence. We report 10^(13) photons/sr withenergies >5 k.V measured at 0°to the laser axis and a brilliance of 10^(21) photons s^(−1) mm^(−2) mrad−2(0.1%BW)−1. The angular distributionof the emission has an FWHM of 14°–16°. Thank. to the ultra-high photon fluence, point-lik. radiation source, and ultra-short emissiontime, DLA-based k.V back.ighters are promising for various applications in high-energy-density research with k.lojoule petawatt-class laserfacilities.

Methionine(Met)is an essential and first limiting amino acid in the poultry diet that plays a significant role in chick.n embryonic development and *** present study examined the effect of in ovo injection of DL-Met and L-Met sources and genotypes on chick.n embryonic-intestinal development and *** eggs of the two genotypes,TETRA-SL layer hybrid(TSL)—commercial layer hybrid and Hungarian Partridge colored hen breed(HPC)—a native genotype,were randomly distributed into four treatments for each *** treatment groups include the following:1)control non-injected eggs(noIn);2)saline-injected(SaIn);3)DL-Met injected(DLM);and 4)L-Met injected(LM).The in ovo injection was carried out on 17.5 d of embryonic development;after hatching,eight chick. per group were sacrificed,and the jejunum was extracted for *** results showed that both DLM and LM groups had enhanced intestinal development as evidenced by increased villus width,villus height,and villus area(Pnificantly reduced crypt depth,glutathione(GSH)content,glutathione S-transferase 3 alpha(GST3),occludin(OCLn)gene expression and increased villus height to crypt depth ratio in the TSL genotype than the LM group(Pnotype has overexpressed insulin-lik. growth factor 1(IGF1)gene,tricellulin(MD2),occludin(OCLn),superoxide dismutase 1(SOD1),and GST3 genes than the TSL genotype(Pn conclusion,these findings showed that in ovo injection of Met enhanced intestinal development,and function,with genotypes responding differently under normal *** also influenced the expression of intestinal antioxidants,tight junction,and growth-related genes.

In 2013,the World Health Organization defined perivascular epithelioid cell tumor(PEComa)as“a mesenchymal tumor which shows a local association with vessel walls and usually expresses melanocyte and smooth muscle mark.rs.”This generic definition seems to better fit the PEComa family,which includes angiomyolipoma,clear cell sugar tumor of the lung,lymphangioleiomyomatosis,and a group of histologically and immunophenotypically similar tumors that include primary extrapulmonary sugar tumor and clear cell myomelanocytic *** cell tumors with this immunophenotypic pattern have also had their malignant variants *** localizing to the liver,preoperative radiological diagnosis has proven to be very difficult,and most patients have been diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma,focal nodular hyperplasia,hemangioma,or hepatic adenoma based on imaging *** of a malignant variant of the liver have been ***,reports of malignant variants of these lesions have increased in recent ***,we support the use of the Folpe criteria,which in 2005 established the criteria for categorizing a PEComa as benign,malignant,or of uncertain malignant *** they are not considered ideal,they currently seem to be the best approach and could be used for the categorization of liver tumors.

In addition to their visible motion such as swimming(e.g.,with the help ofﬂagella),bacteria can also exhibit nanomotion that is detectable only with highly sensitive instruments,and this study shows that it is possible to detect bacterial nanomotion using an AFM detection *** results show that the nanomotion characteristics depend on the bacterial strain,and that nanomotion can be used to sense the metabolic activity of bacteria because the oscillations are sensitive to the food preferences of the bacteria and the type of surrounding medium.

Thermo-and pH-sensitive Polymer with Pendant Spacer-link.d Imidazole Cycles

By the reaction of poly(acryloyl chloride) with n-(3-aminopropyl)imidazole, poly(n-(3-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)propyl)acrylamide) was synthesized. The new polymer contains an imidazole ring removed from the main chain by a spacer of five bonds. The structure and purity, molecular weight, hydrodynamic and thermosensitive properties of the obtained sample were studied by1H-and13C-nMR, FTIR spectroscopy, acid-base titration, light scattering, turbidimetry and viscometry. The observed ability of the imidazole-containing polymer to form and destroy associates in water-salt solutions at pH 6.6-7.4 and temperatures of 29-48℃ indicates that these are promising candidates for designing complex biomedical systems. The new polymer is able to form complexes with oligo-DnA more actively than poly(1-vinylimidazole), which is of interest for gene delivery applications. The polymer cross-link.d with epichlorohydrin gives micro-relief coatings on the plastic surface, and the modified surface is able to attach negatively charged objects. This thermo-and pH-sensitive polymer modification can be applied to create finely controlled surfaces for cell culturing.
