An Intensive Mind and Body Therapeutic Program Leads to Alteration in Gene Expression Critical to Aging Process in Peripheral Blood Stem Cells

Objective: Waiting to look.young is not a new idea;the search for effective treatments prolonging youthfulness has been going on over many decades. Many scientific evidences have been suggestive of intensive or prolonged mind and body therapies (MBT) improving overall wellness and have anti-aging effects. However, the genetic basis of MBT-induced anti-aging and youthfulness are largely unk.own. It is also k.own that aging adversely affects hematopoiesis in human through controlling compromised hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMNC’s). In this paper, we focus on evaluating changes in the expression levels of a critical panel of genes that regulates aging in PBMNC’s isolated from participants from MBT program. Design: Here, we have investigated the effects of a short intensive MBT program on aging related gene expression changes in the peripheral blood stem cells using affymetrix DNA microarray platform. A total of 108 people selected form many ethnicities were enrolled in the study;38 men and 70 women (aged 18 - 90) randomly assigned for the study. PBMNC’s were collected from the volunteers before and after the completion of the MBT program and evaluated for meditation by examining gene expression patterns in peripheral blood stem cells. Results: Critical pathways k.own to regulate aging process such as pro-inflammatory TNF alpha/NF-k., IL-12 signaling pathway, hypoxic HIF-1-alpha, k.y regulator of programmed cell death, C-MYC, and P38 MAPk.(mitogen-activated protein k.nase) signaling pathway found to be dysregulated in the cohorts compared to subjects prior to MBT program. Furthermore, GATA-2 and Bmi1, k.y regulators of hemtopoiesis and adult stem cells numbers, went up in the mediated group. Erosive Wear Study of PPLSF/Glass Fiber Reinforced Hybrid Laminates

This work.is focused to examine the erosive performance of hybrid Palmyra palm leaf stalk.fiber(PPLSF)/glass polyester laminate against solid particle bombardment.A hand lay-up method was adopted for the fabricating four piles of five distinct laminates with different stack.ng order glass and PPLSF *** them,one group of pure PPLSF and pure E-glass laminates were *** hybrid laminates were exposed to high speed stream of solid sand particle at three distinct impact velocities(48,70 and 82 m/s)and four different angles of impingement(30°,45°,60°and 90°).The effect of particle velocity,angle of impingement and stack.ng order on both wear rate and efficiency were *** experimental assessment reveals a significant improvement in erosive wear resistance properties due to hybridization of PPLSF with ***,the laminates with PPLSF layer as sk.n and glass as core layer exhibited better erosive wear resistance properties than other types of ***,a maximum value of erosion at lower velocity(48 m/s)is also noticed at 45°impingement ***,at high velocity of impact 70 m/s and 82 m/s,the maximum rate of erosion has been shifted from 45°impact angle to 60°impact *** alternation of this semi-ductile character to semi-brittle character is evidenced by analyzing the experimental *** to justify the mode of erosion,the eroded surface samples were inspected by scanning electron microscope(SEM).

Performance Improvement of k.naf/Glass Polymer Hybrid Composites by Effective Application of Fish Scale Powder as Filler:A Novel Approach

Modern technology for developing new items made from renewable resources is becoming more and more popular as a result of rising environmental ***,contemporary polymer composites have included the hybridization of natural fibers with synthetic ones,along with the inclusion of a variety of biowaste filler for developing sustainable *** this work.the k.naf/glass hybrid polyester composites are strengthened by the addition of fish scale(FS),which is tak.n from the fish􀆳s outermost layer of *** different stack.d-order laminates,such as k.k.,k.k.,Gk.G,k.Gk.and GGGG,are fabricated by using the hand lay-up method with four different weight concentrations of filler content:0%,5%,10%,and 15%.Mechanical possessions such as tensile,flexural,impact strength and micro-hardness have been evaluated through experimentation in accordance with ASTM *** experimental findings revealed that,the tensile strength and micro-hardness value of k.k. laminates with 15wt% of FS filler are found to be maximum of 118.72 MPa and 17.82 HV respectively which are 39.67%and 26.11%greater than that of k.k. laminates without FS ***,the flexural and impact strength of same laminates with 10 wt% FS filler exhibited a maximum value of 142.77 MPa and 62.08 k./m^(2).In order to corroborate its applicability for structural and building materials in open environment,the dimensional stability of the composite has been studied through moisture absorption *** influences of FS filler loading on dimensional stability and resistance to moisture absorption capacity of laminates are also *** experimental results reflected that the addition of FS-filler has significantly improved the dimensional stability of the laminates in moist environment by reducing the moisture absorption *** further support the mode of failures,a fractography investigation of fractured surfaces was conducted.

Search for pulsations in the LMXB EXO 0748-676

We present here results from our search for X-ray pulsations of the neu- tron star in the low mass X-ray binary EXO 0748-676 at a frequency near the burst- oscillation frequency of 44.7 Hz. Using the observations made with the Proportional Counter Array onboard the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer, we did not find any pulsations in the frequency band of 44.4Hz to 45.0Hz and obtained a 3σ upper limit of 0.47% on the pulsed fraction for any possible underlying pulsation in this frequency band. We also discuss the importance of EXO 0748-676 as a promising source for the detection of Gravitational Waves.

Orbital X-ray modulation study of three supergiant HMXBs

We present the orbital X-ray modulation study of three high mass X-ray binary systems, IGR J18027-2016, IGR J18483-0311 and IGR J16318-4848, using data obtained with RXTE-ASM, Swift-BAT and INTEGRAL-ISGRI. Using the long term light curves of the eclipsing HMXB IGR J18027-2016, obtained with Swift-BAT in the energy range 15-50k.V and INTEGRAL-ISGRI in the energy range 22-40 k.V, we have determined three new mid eclipse times. The newly determined mid eclipse times together with the k.own values were used to derive an accurate value of the orbital period of 4.5693（4） d at MJD 52168 and an upper limit of 3.9（1.2）×10^-7d d-1 on the period derivative. We have also accurately determined an orbital period of 18.5482（88）d for the intermediate system IGR J 18483-0311, which displays an unusual behavior and shares many properties with the k.own SFXTs and persistent supergiant systems. This is a transient source and the outbursts occur intermittently at intervals of 18.55 d. Similarly, in the third supergiant system, IGR J16318-4848, we have found that the outbursts are separated by intervals of 80 d or its multiples, suggesting a possible orbital period.

Characterization of biofilms in biliary stents and potential factors involved in occlusion

AIM To quantify the components in biofilms and analyze the predisposing factors involved in occlusion of biliary stents. METHODS In a prospective study conducted from April 2011 to March 2014 at a tertiary care hospital, all consecutive patients who required endoscopic biliary stent exchange/removal were included. Etiology of the biliary disease was diagnosed by imaging, cytology and on follow-up. Clinical details of patients with biliary stent retrieval were noted. All extracted stents were collected in sterile containers and immediatelyprocessed for quantification of biofilm proteins and polysaccharides. Molecular identification of commonly k.own and unk.own bacteria was performed by polymerase chain reaction and density gradient gel electrophoresis methods. RESULTS Eighty one patients(41 males) with age range of 20-86 years were studied. The underlying causes for stent insertion were bile duct stones(n = 46; 56.8%) benign stricture(n = 29; 35.8%) and malignancy(n = 6; 7.4%) with cholangitis in 50(61.7%) patients. The retrieved stent sizes were 7 Fr(n = 62; 76.5%) and 10 Fr(n = 19; 23.5%) with 65 days median insertion duration. Polybacterial consortia were detected in 90.1% of the stents. The most common bacteria identified by polymerase chain reaction alone and/or sequencing were Pseudomonas(n = 38), Citrobacter(n = 23), k.ebsiella(n = 22), Staphylococcus(n = 20), Serratia(n = 16), Escherichia coli(n = 14), Streptococcus(n = 13), Enterococcus(n = 13), Aeromonas(n = 12), Proteus(n = 10) and Enterobacter(n = 9). Protein concentration according to gender(0.547 ± 0.242 mg/ml vs 0.458 ± 0.259 mg/ml; P = 0.115) as well as age > 60 years and < 60 years(0.468 ± 0.295 mg/ml vs 0.386 ± 0.238 mg/ml; P = 0.205) was non-significant. However, polysaccharide concentration was significant both according to gender(0.052 ± 0.021 mg/ml vs 0.049 ± 0.016 mg/ml; P < 0.0001) and age(0.051 ± 0.026 mg/ml vs 0.038 ± 0.016 mg/ml; P < 0.011). We present here the results of broadband spectral analysis of a low-mass X-ray binary and a black.hole candidate 4 U 1957+*** source was observed nine times with the Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope A rray(NuSTAR)between September 2018 and November *** these observations,the spectral state of 4 U 1957+11 evolved *** disc dominant spectra are described well with a hot,multicolor disc black.ody with disc temperature varying in the range k._(in)~1.35-1.86 k.V and a non-thermal component having a steep slope(Γ=2-3).A broad Fe emission line feature(5-8 k.V)was observed in the spectra of all the *** relativistic disc model was used to study the effect of distance,inclination and the black.hole mass on its *** indicate a higher spin for smaller distances and lower black.hole *** smaller distances and higher masses,spin is maximum and almost independent of the *** inverse correlation exists between the spin and the spectral hardening factor for all the *** system prefers a moderate spin of about 0.85 for black.hole masses between 4-6 M⊙for a 7 k.c distance.

Pulse profile stability of the Crab pulsar

We present an X-ray timing analysis of the Crab pulsar, PSR B0531＋21, using archival RXTE data. We have investigated the stability of the Crab pulse profile, in soft （2-20k.V） and hard （30-100 k.V） X-ray energies, over the last decade of RXTE operation. The analysis includes measurement of the separation between the two pulse peak. and the intensity and widths of the two peak.. We did not find any significant time dependency in the pulse shape. The two peak. have been stable in phase, intensity and width for the last ten years. The first pulse is relatively stronger at soft X-rays. The first pulse peak.is narrower than the second peak.in both soft and hard X-ray energies. Both the peak. show a slow rise and a steeper fall. The ratio of the pulsed photons in the two peak. is also constant in time.
