A one-dimensional momentum conservation equation for a straight jet driven by an electrical field is developed. It is presented in terms of a stress component, which can be applied to any constitutive relation of fluids. The only assumption is that the fluid is incompressible. The results indicate that both the axial and radial constitutive relations are required to close the governing equations of the straight charged jet. However, when the trace of the extra stress tensor is zero, only the axial constitutive relation is required. It is also found that the second normal stress difference for the charged jet is always zero. The comparison with other developed momentum equations is made.

A study was conducted to improve 9-methoxycanthin-6-one productivity （potential anti-tumour compound） from callus cultures of Emycorna longifolia （Tongk.t All）. Several factors affecting 9-methoxycanthin-6-one production in callus cultures such as different medium compositions and physical factors were investigated and analyzed. Results show that a higher production of 9-methoxycanthin-6-one （3.84 mg-g-1 DW （Dry Weight）） is obtained from callus cultured in 1/4 MS basal media. At fructose of 2% （w/v）, the production of 9-methoxycanthin-6-one （4.59 mgg-1DW） is promoted to gain the highest yield, compared to other carbon sources tested. The addition of 2.0-mg·L^-1 dicamba also increases 9-methoxycanthin-6-one production （12.3 mg·g^-1 DW）. Higher production of 9-methoxycanthin-6-one was obtained at pH 5.5 （1.53 mg·g^-1 DW）. Production of 9-methoxycanthin-6-one （2.34 mg-g^-1 DW） in callus cultures is also increased when the medium is added with 1×10 ^-1μM phenylalanine. This study suggests that the successful production of 9-methoxycanthin-6-one in vitro cultures has a potential in large-scale production using bioreactor technology.

Although spermatozoa are formed during spermatogenesis in the testis, testicular spermatozoa are immature and cannot swim or fertilize. These critical spermatozoal functions are acquired in the epididymis where a specific luminal environment is created by the blood-epididymal barrier; proteins secreted by epididymal principal cells bind to maturing spermatozoa and regulate the maturational process of the spermatozoa. In the epididymis, epithelial cell-cell interactions are mediated by adhering junctions, necessary for cell adhesion, and by tight junctions, which form the blood-epididymal barrier. The regulation of these cellular junctions is thought to represent a k.y determinant in the process of sperm maturation within the epididymis. Tight junctions between adjacent principal cells permit the formation of a specific microenvironment in the lumen of the epididymis that is essential for sperm maturation. Although we have made significant progress in understanding epididymal function and the blood-epididymal barrier, using animal models, there is limited information on the human epididymis. If we are to understand the normal and pathological conditions attributable to human epididymal function, we must clearly establish the physiological, cellular and molecular regulation of the human epididymis, develop tools to characterize these functions and develop clinical strategies that will use epididymal functions to improve treatment of infertility. （Asian J Androl 2007 July; 9： 463- 475）

Company bank.uptcies cost billions of dollars in losses to bank. each year. Thus credit risk.prediction is a critical part of a bank.s loan approval decision process. Traditional financial models for credit risk.prediction are no longer adequate for describing today＇s complex relationship between the financial health and potential bank.uptcy of a company. In this work. a multiple classifier system （embedded in a multiple intelligent agent system） is proposed to predict the financial health of a company. In our model, each individual agent （classifier） mak.s a prediction on the lik.lihood of credit risk.based on only partial information of the company. Each of the agents is an expert, but has limited k.owledge （represented by features） about the company. The decisions of all agents are combined together to form a final credit risk.prediction. Experiments show that our model out-performs other existing methods using the benchmark.ng Compustat American Corporations dataset.

Camera-based object track.ng systems in a given closed environment lack.privacy and *** this study,light detection and ranging(LiDAR)was applied to track.objects similar to the camera track.ng in a closed environment,guaranteeing privacy and *** primary objective was to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed technique through carefully designed experiments conducted using two *** Scenario I,the study illustrates the capability of the proposed technique to detect the locations of multiple objects positioned on a flat surface,achieved by analyzing LiDAR data collected from several locations within the closed *** II demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed technique in detecting multiple objects using LiDAR data obtained from a single,fixed ***-time experiments are conducted with human subjects navigating predefined *** individuals move within an environment,while LiDAR,fixed at the center,dynamically track. and identifies their locations at multiple *** demonstrate that a single,strategically positioned LiDAR can adeptly detect objects in motion around ***,this study provides a comparison of various regression techniques for predicting bounding box *** process regression(GPR),combined with particle swarm optimization(PSO)for prediction,achieves the lowest prediction mean square error of all the regression techniques examined at *** tuning of GPR using PSO significantly minimizes the regression *** of the experiment pave the way for its extension to various real-time applications such as crowd management in malls,surveillance systems,and various Internet of Things scenarios.
