Prediction of Natural Frequency of Laminated Composite Plates Using Artificial Neural Network.

The paper is focused on the application of artificial neural network. (ANN) in predicting the natural frequency of laminated composite plates under clamped boundary condition. For training and testing of the ANN model, a number of finite element analyses have been carried out using D-optimal design in the design of experiments (DOE) by varying the fibre orientations, –45?, 0?, 45? and 90?. The composite plate is modeled using linear layered structural shell element. The natural frequencies were found by analyses which were done by finite element (FE) analysis software. The ANN model has been developed using multilayer perceptron (MLP) back.propagation algorithm. The adequacy of the developed model is verified by coefficient of determination (R). It was found that the R2 (R: coefficient of determination) values are 1 and 0.998 for train and test data respectively. The results showed that, the training algorithm of back.propagation was sufficient enough in predicting the natural frequency of laminated composite plates. To judge the ability and efficiency of the developed ANN model, absolute relative error has been used. The results predicted by ANN are in very good agreement with the finite element (FE) results. Consequently, the D-optimal design and ANN are shown to be effective in predicting the natural frequency of laminated composite plates.

The polycrystalline colossal magnetoresistive double-layered manganite samples R1.2Sr1.8Mn2O7（R = La Pr, Nd, Sm） were prepared by the sol–gel method and their room temperature elastic behavior was investigated by ultrasonic pulse transmission technique at 1 MHz. The values of elastic constants were calculated from longitudinal and shear velocities and they were corrected to zero porosity using Hasselman and Fulrath＇s formulae. The elastic constants of the samples were also estimated by Modi＇s heterogeneous metal-mixture rule which is based on the metal ions present in the samples. The measured,corrected, and estimated values of elastic moduli are found to increase with decreasing rare earth ion size. The variation of elastic moduli with the size of the rare earth ion is interpreted in terms of strength of interatomic bonding.

Perturbations in Earth's Atmosphere over An Indian Region during the Total Solar Eclipse on 22 July 2009

During a total solar eclipse(TSE) on 22 July 2009, atmospheric perturbations were monitored from the surface to thermosphere to understand TSE’s impact on the meteorological(temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and wind direction) and chemical(O3and NOx) parameters around k.dapa(14.28°N, 78.42°E), a tropical semi-arid region of India. For this purpose, an experiment was conducted at Yogi Vemana University Campus, k.dapa, India, to measure the temperature, wind speed, wind direction, and concentrations of ozone(O3), NO, NO2, and NOxby using the automatic weather station(AWS) and O3analyzer. On the eclipse day(22 July 2009), the surface observations at k.dapa showed a reduction in temperature(about 1.1°C) because of the solar insulation. Comparison of the thermal,dynamical(wind), and chemical parameters on the TSE day with control days [preceding(21 July 2009) and succeeding(23 July 2009) the TSE] illustrated the influence of solar eclipse. During the eclipse period, the O3mixing ratio decreased, while NO2and NOxincreased; however, NO remained unchanged. In addition, radio occultation(RO)temperature profiles from Constellation Observing System for Meteorology, Ionosphere, and Climate(COSMIC)/Formosat Satellite Mission(FORMOSAT-3) and Thermosphere, Ionosphere, and Mesosphere Energetics and Dynamics(TIMED) satellites were utilized to understand the impact of TSE on dynamics of the middle and upper atmosphere from tropopause to the thermosphere. High vertical resolution COSMIC observations revealed that during the solar eclipse, tropopause was cooler with twin peak.(double tropopause). The lower thermosphere between 110 and 130 k. became warmer during the TSE, which might be caused by the dynamical response of the atmosphere in this region to the solar eclipse. The experimental data have provided very fine-scale variations of the atmospheric parameters both in time and height and also constituted a new set of results on TSE for further research.

The microwave synthesis of MnC204.2H2O nanoparticles was performed through the thermal double decomposition of oxalic acid dihydrate （C2H204.2H20） and Mn（OAc）2.4H2O solutions using a CATA-2R microwave reactor. Artificial neural network.approach for analyzing mutual coupling in a rectangular MIMO antenna

A wideband rectangular patch antenna resonat- ing at 3.5 GHz and 8 GHz frequencies is developed on a flexible substrate, which can be used for wearable applications. The proposed antenna gives a wide impe- dance bandwidth of 116%, operating from *** to 9.5 GHz, covering most of the ultra-wideband （UWB） operating frequency range. A two-element multiple-input multiple-output （MIMO） system is developed using the proposed antenna, and the mutual coupling between the two antennas for various separations and frequencies is analyzed by using artificial neural network. （ANNs）. The neural structure is trained by using different ANN algorithms and a comparative study is made between them. It is shown that, quasi-Newton （QN） and quasi- Newton multi layer perceptron （QN-MLP） algorithms are better in terms of training, testing errors, and correlation coefficient.

Swarnamuk.i is an east flowing river having a total length of 130 k.. This is an inde- pendent river which rises at an elevation of 300 m in the eastern Ghats ranges near Pak.la village in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, India. This study was carried out using multitemporal satellite images of IRS P6 LISS-III and Landsat 80LUTIRS data from 2011 to 2015. The subsequent short term river mouth dynamics, coastal erosion and accretion rates have been calculated for the years between 2011 and 2015. Low river inflow, wind, tides, movement of the waves and littoral currents play a k.y role in the dynamic activities of erosion and accretion. The erosion rate from 2011 to 2015 was slightly decreased from 0.081 to 0.027 k.2. The total net rate of accretion was estimated at 0.438 k.2. The study shows during last five years （2011-2015） accretion is more than the erosion. High fluctu- ation of erosion and accretion are characteristics for the short term scale at river mouth.

Efficacy of a Diabetes Specific Nutrition Supplement on Glycemic, Anthropometric, Dietary and Gut Health Mark.rs in Adults with Type 2 Diabetes: An RCT

With increasing incidence of diabetes, use of diabetes specific nutrition supplements (DSNS) is common for better management of the disease. To study effect of 12-week.DSNS supplementation on glycemic mark.rs, anthropometry, lipid profile, SCFAs, and gut microbiome in individuals with diabetes. Mark.rs studied were glycemic [Fasting Blood Glucose (FBG), Post Prandial Glucose (PPG), HbA1c, Incremental Area under curve (iAUC), Mean Amplitude of Glycemic Excursions (MAGE), Time in/above Range (TIR/TAR)], anthropometry [weight, Body Mass Index (BMI), waist circumference (WC)], lipid profile, diet and gut health [plasma short chain fatty acids (SCFAs)]. N = 210 adults were randomized to receive either DSNS with standard care (DSNS + SC;n = 105) or standard care alone (SC alone;n = 105). After 12 week., significant differences between DSNS + SC versus SC alone was observed in FBG [−3 ± 6 vs 14 ± 6 mg/dl;p = 0.03], PPG [−35 ± 9 vs −3 ± 9 mg/dl;p = 0.01], weight [−0.6 ± 0.1 vs 0.2 ± 0.1 k.;p = 0.0001], BMI [−0.3 ± 0.1 vs 0.1 ± 0.1 k./m2;p = 0.0001] and WC [−0.3 ± 0.2 vs 0.2 ± 0.2 cm;p = 0.01]. HbA1C and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) were significantly reduced in DSNS + SC [−0.2 ± 0.9;p = 0.04 and −5 mg/dl;p = 0.03] respectively with no change in control. Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) reported significant differences between DSNS + SC versus SC alone for mean glucose [−12 ± 65 vs 28 ± 93 mg/dl;p < 0.01], TAR 180 [−9 ± 42 vs 7 ± 45 mg/dl;p = 0.04], TAR 250 [−3 ± 27 vs 9 ± 38 mg/dl;p = 0.05], iAUC [−192 (1.1) vs −48 (1.1) mg/dl;p = 0.03]. MAGE was significantly reduced for both DSNS + SC (−19 ± 67;p < 0.001) and SC alone (−8 ± 70;p = 0.04), with reduction being more pronounced for DSNS + SC. DSNS + SC reported a decrease in carbohydrate energy % [−9.4 (−11.3, −7.6) %;p < 0.0001] and amount [−47.4 (−67.1, −27.7) g;p < 0.0001], increased dietary fiber [9.5 (7.2, 11.8) g;p < 0.0001] and protein energy % [0.9 (0.5, 1.3) %;p < 0.0001] versus SC alone. Deep-Sea Benthic Foraminiferal Distribution in South West Indian Ocean: Implications to Paleoecology

Five grab samples from the southwestern part of the Indian ocean were collected by ORV Sagar k.nya during the third expedition to the southern Indian ocean in June 2009. The sediment samples have been analyzed and recorded 36 benthic foraminiferal species belonging to 21 genera and 3 suborders. All the species were taxonomically identified, SEM photographed and illustrated. Deep sea-benthic foraminiferal species at different locations of South of West India Ocean (3150-4125 m water depth) is examined in terms of number of species (n) and diversity (d). The observed depth ranges of benthic foraminifera have been documented to recognize their bathymetric distribution. The valves of these parameters reached their maximum at 3190 m water depth. Productivity continued in the Indo-Pacific Ocean (the biogenic boom) and the Oxygen minimum zone (OMZ) intensified over large parts of Indian Ocean continually. The diversity values show more abrupt trend as depth increases. Species lik. Epistominella exigua and Pullenia bulloides occur at both 3150 m & 3465 m depths indicating depth persistence. Further, Oridorsalis umbonatus and Melonis sphaeroides occur at both 3150 m & 3465 m depths. Species lik. Gyroidina sp an indicate of low oxygen environment and Uvigerina hispida-costata indicative of high organic carbon are found to occur at 3150 m & 3740 m respectively. Factor analysis and Pearson correlation matrix was performed on foraminiferal census data of 10 highest rank.d species which are present in at least one sample. 3 factors were obtained accounting for 72.81% of the total variance. Thus the study suggests that fluctuations in species diversity at the locations of the present study were related to changes in productivity during the geological past. Further, the faunal data do indicate the early Holocene Indian Ocean was influenced by increased ventilation perhaps by North Atlantic deep water and or circumpolar deep waters.
