CToMP: a cycle-task-oriented memory protection scheme for unmanned systems

Memory corruption attacks(MCAs) refer to malicious behaviors of system intruders that modify the contents of a memory location to disrupt the normal operation of computing systems, causing leakage of sensitive data or perturbations to ongoing processes. Unlike general-purpose systems, unmanned systems cannot deploy complete security protection schemes, due to their limitations in size, cost and *** in unmanned systems are particularly difficult to defend against. Furthermore, MCAs have diverse and unpredictable attack interfaces in unmanned systems, severely impacting digital and physical sectors. In this paper, we first generalize, model and taxonomize MCAs found in unmanned systems currently, laying the foundation for designing a portable and general defense approach. According to different attack mechanisms,we found that MCAs are mainly categorized into two types — return2libc and return2shellcode. To tackle return2libc attacks, we model the erratic operation of unmanned systems with cycles and then propose a cycle-task-oriented memory protection(CToMP) approach to protect control flows from tampering. To defend against return2shellcode attacks, we introduce a secure process stack with a randomized memory address by leveraging the memory pool to prevent Shellcode from being executed. Moreover, we discuss the mechanism by which CTo MP resists the return-oriented programming(rOP) attack, a novel variant of return2libc attacks. Finally, we implement CTo MP on CUAV V5+ with Ardupilot and Crazyflie. The evaluation and security analysis results demonstrate that the proposed approach CTo MP is resilient to various MCAs in unmanned systems with low footprints and system overhead.

Study on concentration and turbulence of solid-liquid FAE in dispersal process

This paper describes numerical simulation on dispersion of the solid-liquid mixed fuel driven by explosion load. A model used in numerical calculation for dispersion of solid-liquid mixed fuel was established in this study. The concentration and turbulent intensity in the multiphase cloud of the solidliquid mixed fuel were obtained by numerical simulation. It was found that the fuel concentration tended to be 0.15 kg/m^3, the turbulence intensity tended to be 7 in 90 ms. The numerical results agree with those measured in the experiment.

Given two Banach spaces E,F,let B(E,F) be the set of all bounded linear operators from E into F,and r(E,F) the set of all operators in B(E,F) with finite *** is well-known that B(rn) is a Banach space as well as an algebra,while B(rn,rm) for m = n,is a Banach space but not an algebra;meanwhile,it is clear that r(E,F) is neither a Banach space nor an ***,in this paper,it is proved that all of them have a common property in geometry and topology,i.e.,they are all a union of mutual disjoint path-connected and smooth submanifolds (or hypersurfaces).Let Σr be the set of all operators of finite rank r in B(E,F) (or B(rn,rm)).In fact,we have that 1) suppose Σr∈ B(rn,rm),and then Σr is a smooth and path-connected submanifold of B(rn,rm) and dimΣr = (n + m)r-r2,for each r ∈ [0,min{n,m});if m = n,the same conclusion for Σr and its dimension is valid for each r ∈ [0,min{n,m}];2) suppose Σr∈ B(E,F),and dimF = ∞,and then Σr is a smooth and path-connected submanifold of B(E,F) with the tangent space TAΣr = {B ∈ B(E,F) : BN(A)-r(A)} at each A ∈Σr for 0 r routine methods for seeking a path to connect two operators can hardly apply here.A new method and some fundamental theorems are introduced in this paper,which is development of elementary transformation of matrices in B(rn),and more adapted and simple than the elementary transformation *** addition to tensor analysis and application of Thom’s famous result for transversility,these will benefit the study of infinite geometry.

Nonadiabatic acceleration of plasma sheet ions related to ion cyclotron waves

The nonadiabatic acceleration of plasma sheet ions is important to the understanding of substorm energetic injections and the formation of ring current. Previous studies show that nonadiabatic acceleration of protons by magnetic field dipolarization is hard to occur at X>–10 rE because the time-scale of dipolarization(several minutes) is much larger than the gyroperiod of protons there(several seconds). In this paper, we present a case of nonadiabatic acceleration of plasma sheet ions observed by Cluster on October 30, 2006 at(XGSM, YGSM)=(-7.7, 4.7) rE. The nonadiabatic acceleration of ions is caused not by previously reported magnetospheric dipolarization but by the ultra low frequency(ULF) waves during magnetospheric dipolarization. The nonadiabatic acceleration of ions generates a new energy flux structure of ions, which is characterized by the usual energy flux increase of ions(28–80 ke V) and a concurrent energy flux decrease of ions in a lower energy range(10 e V–20 ke V). These new observations constitute a complete physical picture: The lower energy ions absorb the wave energy, and thus get accelerated to higher energy. We use a nonadiabatic model to interpret the ion energy flux variations. Both analytic and simulation results are in good agreement with the observations. This indicates that the nonadiabatic acceleration associated with ULF waves superposed on dipolarized magnetic field is an effective mechanism for ion energization in the near-Earth plasma sheet. The presented energy flux structures can be used as a proxy to identify the similar dynamic process.

Influencing mechanism of pre-existing nanoscale Al5Fe2 phase on Mg-Fe interface in friction stir spot welded Al-free Zk60-Q235 joint

Al-free Zk60 magnesium (Mg) alloy sheet was selected as substrate material of Mg-steel pinless friction stir spot welding (FSSW), avoiding the effect of the Al element in the substrate on the alloying reaction of Mg-iron (Fe) interface. The sound FSSW joint of Zk60 Mg alloy and Q235 steel with a hot-dipped aluminum (Al)-containing zinc (Zn) coating was successfully realized. The detailed microstructural examinations proved that Al5Fe2 phase at the Mg-Fe interface came from the pre-existing Al5Fe2 phase in the coating and acted as the transition layer for promoting the metallurgical bonding of Mg and Fe. The interfaces with well-matched lattice sites among Fe, Al5Fe2 and Mg were formed during FSSW. A low energy interface with good match of lattice sites ((002)Al5Fe2//(110)Fe, [110]Al5Fe2//[113]Fe) between Al5Fe2 and Fe was identified. For the interface between Al5Fe2 and Mg, an orientation relationship of (622)Al5Fe2//(3112)Mgand[158]Al5Fe2//[2423]Mg was observed. The tensile-shear load of the Zk60-steel joint could reach 4.6 kN. Moreover, the joint fracture occurred at the interface between the Al5Fe2 layer and the Mg alloy substrate, suggesting the brittle fracture characteristic.
