New empirical scaling equations for oil recovery by free fall gravity drainage in naturally fractured reservoirs

Gas-oil gravity drainage is a recognized major contributor to production in fractured reservoirs. While various empirical and analytical methods have been proposed to model this process, many of them contain assumptions that are questionable or require parameters that are not accessible at the field level. The aim of this work is to provide new, easy-to-use scaling equations for estimating the recoverable oil through gravity drainage in naturally fractured reservoirs, considering the effects of resistance capillary pressure. To accomplish this, data from four oilfields undergoing gravity drainage, including rock properties (eight sets), block height (three sets), and fluid properties (four sets), were used to generate a wide range of recovery curves using a single porosity numerical simulation model. Aronofsky's and Lambert's functions were then utilized to match the generated recovery curves. Statistical analysis revealed that the Aronofsky's function is more accurate in replicating the recovery patterns, while the Lambert's function tends to overestimate the early-time oil recovery and underestimate the oil recovery at a later stage in the majority of cases. A sensitivity analysis was subsequently performed, revealing that parameters such as absolute permeability, viscosity of oil, height of block, gas and oil density, characteristics of relative permeability and capillary pressure curves and interfacial tension (IFT) influence the amount of time taken to achieve the final recovery. Of these parameters, absolute permeability has the most significant effect on the amount of time needed to attain the final recovery, while the effect of difference between oil and gas densities is the lowest. Consequently, two different expressions were developed using nonlinear multiple regression analysis of simulated gravity drainage data which can be combined with the Aronofsky model to substitute the rate convergence constant. DTLM-DBP:Deep Transfer Learning Models for DNA Binding Proteins Identification

Early Cretaceous succession of the Oued Fodda Formation in the Ouarsenis Mountains(northwestern Algeria) is mainly composed of marl—limestone alternations, which are subdivided into four informal units(Units 1 to 4), based on distinct lithological, stratonomical, and ichnological features. The ichnological analysis reveals a low diversity of the trace-fossil assemblage, which is exclusively reported from Units 2 and *** ichnoassemblage contains six ichnotaxa(Chondrites intricatus, Ophiomorpha isp., Planolites isp., Thalassinoides isp., Zoophycos brianteus, and Zoophycos cauda-galli), among which Zoophycos and Chondrites are the most common elements of the assemblage and occur in distinct mud-rich substrates showing different bioturbation intensities. The development of Zoophycos in the middle part of Unit 2 shows a high degree of bioturbation(bioturbation index(BI) = 4). Zoophycos specimens are of large size, between 45 cm and 75 cm in width, which were interpreted to have formed in a lower offshore environment where the oxygenation amount was optimal, the sedimentation rate was low, and the benthic food was abundant on the seafloor. Toward the upper part of Unit 2, Zoophycos-bearing levels exhibit a less intense degree of bioturbation(BI between 1 and2) in contrast to Planolites-and Chondrites-bearing levels which have a bioturbation index(BI) between 3 and4. At these levels, Zoophycos displays relatively small, coiled to U-shaped spreiten, probably in response to stressful and dysoxic conditions prevailing in the water bottom. With improved oxygenation in a quiet lower offshore to shelf margin environment in Unit 3, the benthic organisms recovered, as represented by medium to large size Zoophycos in association with Ophiomorpha and scarce Chondrites burrows, even if the overall bioturbation intensity is very low. Mapping surface water erosion potential in the Soummam watershed in Northeast Algeria with RUSLE model

The present study aims to estimate the annual soil loss in the Soummam watershed in the northeast of Algeria,using the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation(RUSLE),geographic information system(GIS),and remote sensing(RS).RUSLE model has been used for modelling the main factors involved in erosive *** Soummam watershed covers a surface area of 9108.45 km^2 of irregular shape,northeast–southwest towards *** is characterized by an altitude varying between 2 m in the northeast and 2308 m in the *** showed that the average erosivity factor(R)is 70.64(MJ·mm)/(ha·h·year)and the maximum value reaches 140(MJ·mm)/(ha·h·year),the average soil erodibility factor(k)is 0.016(t·h·ha)/(MJ·ha·mm)and maximum values reach 0.0204(t·h·ha)/(MJ·ha·mm)in the southeast regions of the watershed,the average slope length and steepness factor(LS)is 9.79 and the mean C factor is estimated to be *** maps integration of different factors of RUSLE in GIS with their database,allowed with a rapid and efficient manner to highlight complexity and factors interdependence in the erosion risk *** resulting map for soils losses,with an average erosion rate of 6.81 t/(ha·year)shows a low erosion(k exceeding 32.18 t/(ha·year)cover more than 3.54%of the basin *** results can certainly aid in implementation of soil management and conservation practices to reduce the soil erosion in the Soummam watershed.

Highly selective separation of CO_2 from its methane-containing binary gas mixture can be achieved by using Poly(ether-block-amide)(PEBAX)mixed matrix membranes(MMMs).According to FESEM and AFM analyses,silica-based nanoparticles were homogenously integrated within the polymer matrix,facilitating penetration of CO_2 through the membrane while acting as barrier for methane *** membrane containing 4.6 wt% fumed silica(FS)(PEBAX/4.6 wt%FS)exhibits astonishing selectivity results where binary gas mixture of CO_2/CH_4 was used as feed *** detected by gas chromatography,in the permeate side,data showed a significant increase of CO_2 permeance,while CH_4 transport through the mixed matrix membrane was not ***,PEBAX/4.6 wt%FS greatly exceeds the Robeson *** to data reported on CO_2/CH_4 gas pair separation in the literature,the results achieved in this work are beyond those data reported in the literature,particularly when PEBAX/4.6 wt%FS membrane was utilized.

The marl and limestone alternations of the Lower Jurassic Ain Ouarka and Ain Rhezala formations(Pliensbachian-Toarcian)in the western Saharan Atlas,Northwest Algeria,yield a diverse micro-and mac-rofauna,including moderately numerous crinoids,which are represented by remains of isocrinids,i.e.,Bal-anocrinus ticinensis Hess and columnals of the genus *** far,the latter genus has been observed from the Upper Jurassic-Lower Cretaceous strata of Eurasia,North America,and the African ***,the present find is the oldest record of this crinoid genus,and the second one from the southern Tethyan *** this paper,it is shown that Percevalicrinus,which is traditionally regarded as a representative of the subfamily Balanocrininae,displays several features of the subfamily *** crinoid assemblage and associated facies and invertebrate fauna are typical of a low-energy deep outer shelf/ramp(below the storm wave-base)setting.

The remarkable evolution of metal halide perovskites in the past decade makes them promise for next-generation optoelectronic *** particular,nanocrystals(NCs)of inorganic perovskites have demonstrated excellent performance for light-emitting and display ***,the presence of surface defects on the NCs negatively impacts their performance in ***,we report a compatible facial post-treatment of CsPbI_(3) nanocrystals using guanidinium iodide(GuI).It is found that the GuI treatment effectively passivated the halide vacancy defects on the surface of the NCs while offering effective surface protection and exciton confinement thanks to the beneficial contribution of iodide and guanidinium *** a consequence,the film of treated CsPbI_(3) nanocrystals exhibited significantly enhanced luminescence and charge transport properties,leading to high-performance light-emitting diode with maximum external quantum efficiency of 13.8%with high brightness(peak luminance of 7039 cd m^(−2) and a peak current density of 10.8 cd A^(−1)).The EQE is over threefold higher than performance of untreated device(EQE:3.8%).The operational half-lifetime of the treated devices also was significantly improved with T50 of 20 min(at current density of 25 mA cm^(−2)),outperforming the untreated devices(T50~6 min).

Assessment and Evaluation of Band Ratios, Brovey and HSV Techniques for Lithologic Discrimination and Mapping Using Landsat ETM<sup>+</sup>and SPOT-5 Data

This study aims to assess and to evaluate band ratios, brovey and HSV (Hue-Saturation-Value) techniques for discrimination and mapping the basement rock units exposed at Wadi Bulghah area, Saudi Arabia using multispectral Landsat ETM+ and SPOT-5 panchromatic data.?FieldSpec instrument is utilized to collect the spectral data of diorite, marble, gossan and volcanics, the main rock units exposed at the study area. Spectral profile of diorite exhibits very distinguished absorption features around 2.20 μm and 2.35 μm wavelength regions. These absorption features lead to lowering the band ratio values within the band-7 wavelength region. Diorite intrusions appear to have grey and dark grey image signatures on 7/3 and 7/2 band ratio images respectively. On the false color composite ratio image (7/3:R;7/2:G and 5/2:B), diorite, marble, gossan and volcanics have very dark brown, dark blue, white and yellowish brown image signatures respectively. Image fusion between previously mentioned FCC ratio image and high spatial resolution (5 meters) SPOT-5 panchromatic image is carried out by using brovey and HSV transformation methods. Visual and statistical assessment methods prove that HSV fused image yields best image interpretability results rather than brovey image. It improves the spatial resolution of the original FCC ratios image with acceptable spectral preservation.
