Jamun(Syzygium cumini Skeels)is a nutritious fruit and has historically been used as both as an edible and a traditional *** jamun seed is an inedible by-product of the ***,their high concentration of phytochemicals makes them valuable components of *** studies on diverse biological activities of jamun seeds have warranted their application in human health and biomedical *** review paper discusses critically the phytochemical composition of jamun seeds and the bioactivities,including their antioxidant,anti-inflammatory,anti-cancer,antidiabetic,anti-microbial,anti-obesity,hepato-protective,cardio and gastro-protective *** bioactivity of jamun seed is related to the presence of phenols,flavonoids,steroids,alkaloids,triterpenoids,tannins,and *** research in vivo,and in vitro experiments with human and animal cell models support the idea that jamun seed extract can be valuable additions in food and biomedical fields due to the diverse bio-functional ***,in-depth and systematic in vivo clinical trials using human subjects must be conducted to confirm the safe consumption limit and establish other therapeutic roles of jamun seeds for their abundant utilization as a nutraceutical or pharmacological ***,research is required to understand the exact mechanisms of the bioactivities exhibited by jamun seeds.

A comparative study between haemocoagulase and adrenaline in type 1 tympanoplasty

Introduction: Haemostasis is a critical component of ear surgeries, which can be achieved by topical methods including simple manual pressure with gauze or cotton balls soaked with adrenaline, administration of haemostatic agents or vasoconstrictive materials. Objective: To compare efficacy of haemocoagulase and adrenaline in attaining middle ear haemostasis in type - 1 tympanoplasty with or without cortical mastoidectomy. To study the effect of haemocoagulase in middle ear. Materials and method: This is a prospective comparative study conducted in a tertiary care hospital from January 2013 to June 2014. Patients undergoing type 1 tympanoplasty with or without cortical mastoidectomy were divided into two groups. In group A (50 cases), cotton balls soaked in 2ml Haemocoagulase was used and in group B (50 cases) cotton balls soaked in 2 ml Adrenaline (1:1000 dilution) was used for middle ear haemostasis. The efficacy of haemocoagulase and adrenaline was compared. Results: The mean number of cotton balls used in haemocoagulase group in cases with congested middle ear mucosa was more than those used in the adrenaline group. Duration of surgery was more in haemocoagulase group (65 min) with congested mucosa, compared to adrenaline group (50 min). The mean blood pressure was significantly higher in adrenaline group compared to haemocoagulase group. Postoperative hearing improvement in both groups showed no significant difference with p value 0.694. Conclusions: Adrenaline is a better middle ear haemostatic than haemocoagulase. However, haemocoagulase can safely be used in patients with hypertension.

The structural diversity of different tree-crop associations were studied at Gachabari Sal forest area of Madhupur Garh on Buffer and Peripheral Zone during 2006. The total density, basal area of trees in the Buffer and Peripheral Zone were 155.5 trees·hm^(-2), 795.4 trees·hm^(-2) and 3.9 m2·hm-2, 5.8 m^2·hm^(-2), respectively. No regeneration and natural trees were found in Peripheral Zone and the Zone is totally occupied by exotic species where the Buffer Zone comprised of both natural and exotic trees. The Peripheral Zone belonged to younger and smaller trees whereas the Buffer Zone belonged to mixture of smaller, taller, younger and mature trees simultaneously. For the practicing of different agroforestry systems both Zones have lost their original characters of Sal forest.

This paper is comprised of the modeling and optimization of a multi objective linear programming problem in fuzzy environment in which some goals are fractional and some are linear. Here, we present a new approach for its solution by using α-cut of fuzzy numbers. In this proposed method, we first define membership function for goals by introducing non-deviational variables for each of objective functions with effective use of α-cut intervals to deal with uncertain parameters being represented by fuzzy numbers. In the optimization process the under deviational variables are minimized for finding a most satisfactory solution. The developed method has also been implemented on a problem for illustration and comparison.

This paper gives a statistical view about important contributions and advances on semiconductor metal oxide （SMO） compounds based gas sensors developed to detect the air pollutants such as liquefied petroleum gas （LPG）, H2S, NH3, CO2, acetone, ethanol, other volatile compounds and hazardous gases. Moreover, it is revealed that the alloy/composite made up of SMO gas sensors show better gas response than their counterpart single component gas sensors, i.e., they are found to enhance the 4S characteristics namely speed, sensitivity, selectivity and stability. Improvement of such types of sensors used for detection of various air pollutants, which are reported in last two decades, is highlighted herein.

The study aims to afford a deeper knowledge on reproductive biology of Mystus bleekeri from Surma River,Bangladesh in a multidisciplinary ***,the species is in demand as food and ornamental fish in Bangladesh but still now comprehensive details on reproductive biology of this species is *** 600 fish samples were derived from commercial catches from July 2018 to June *** differences in sex ratio,size distribution,condition factor(Kn),fecundity,gonadosomatic index and gonadal maturation cycle were *** results showed 384(64%)female and 216(36%)male with an overall sex ratio of 1.77:1(female:male).Mean total length(TL)and body weight(BW)of all fish studied were 14.85±3.38 cm TL and 27.54±15.76 g,*** Kn varied with length groups,the highest(1.45±0.23)and lowest(0.89±0.18)values obtained in 16.0-16.9 and 10.0-10.9 cm TL groups,*** highest Kn was documented in October while the lowest was in *** GSI values showed two peaks in July and November for both the *** fecundity was found to vary from 1120 to 14790 eggs with average value of 4968±3047 with 14.4-18.3 cm in TL and 19.97-34.7g in *** relationship of fecundity with TL and BW was F=1.385TL13.405,r^(2)=0.885 and F=5.201BW^(4.827),r^(2)=*** behavior of spawning together with allochronic oocytes development has also been found through *** results of this study could be used for predicting the response of populations of fish in Surma River and/or other where to human interferences and environmental change.

Background Cystatin C(Cys-C)is an emerging biomarker of renal diseases and its clinical use,particularly for screening the communities affected by chronic kidney disease of unknown etiology(CKDu),is hindered due to the lack of reference intervals(RIs)for diverse ethnic and age *** present study aimed to define RIs for urinary Cys-C(uCys-C)for a healthy pediatric population in Sri Lanka and in turn compare the renal function of the residential children in CKDu endemic and non-endemic regions in Sri *** A cross-sectional study was conducted with 850 healthy children(10-17 years)from selected locations for reference interval establishment,while a total of 892 children were recruited for the comparative *** samples were collected and analyzed for Cys-C,creatinine(Cr)and ***-adjusted uCys-C levels were partitioned by age,and RIs were determined with quantile regression(2.5th,50th and 97.5th quantiles)at 90%confidence *** The range of median RIs for uCys-C in healthy children was 45.94-64.44 ng/mg Cr for boys and 53.58-69.97 ng/mg Cr for *** median(interquartile range)uCys-C levels of children in the CKDu endemic and non-endemic regions were 58.18(21.8-141.9)and 58.31(23.9-155.3)ng/mg Cr with no significant difference(P=0.781).A significant variation of uCys-C was noted in the children across *** Notably high uCys-C levels were observed in children with elevated ***,uCys-C could be a potential biomarker in identifying communities at high risk of CKDu susceptibility.

胶原的稳定机理是一个重要的研究领域。众所周知,金属离子与胶原作用并且给予胶原一定的稳定性。本试验研究了锆(Ⅳ)络合物与胶原的相互作用。探究了锆(Ⅳ)络合物,即氯氧化锆,草酸锆对胶原耐酶降解和耐热稳定性的影响。研究表明锆可以使鼠尾腱(RTT)的天然胶原的湿热稳定性提高8～10℃。锆(Ⅳ)络合物的稳定性顺序是:氯氧化锆>草酸锆。这是由于与胶原反应的类型不同,同样也反映在两种络合物带给胶原构象变化的不同。氯氧化锆在溶液中形成四聚体,从黏度研究看到它的表面与胶原有较强的交联作用,所以比在溶液中形成单体的草酸锆对胶原的耐酶降解稳定性更强。
